Chapter 121

Percy’s POV

Royal Knight pack

I wish I had thought this through when I told Peyton that I was going to be here to support her. I am getting roasted here because even though my name has not been brought up, they are all aware she was after Peyton, and I am Peyton’s mate. It was not hard to figure out that I was the i***t who she was trying to get on the hook. Apparently, every single person in this room can tell who Stephanie was talking about though. She was a user and a manipulator, that used her body to lure people into doing what she wanted. I am just hoping that my face is not totally red right now. I feel humiliated, and ashamed, because she did lead me around by the nose. She told me that she got picked on at the pack house by the other Omegas and I got her workload decreased because of it. So, she could go in later as we were up late, so she got the easier jobs, and now I know why she wanted the easier jobs. So she could pawn them off on the other girls, who didn’t know what she was doing. It is much easier to pawn off an easy job than a hard one, and I fell for her tricks completely. It was not my finest hour.

Stephanie was smart, for a long time, none of the girls knew about the others doing Stephanie’s work. She was able to fly right under the radar for over a year because of it. I wished I had listened to my parents about this. I could have totally skipped over this particular part of my life, which seems to have a life of its own. It seems like it has come back and shamed me, over and over again, because of the dumb choices that I made. I have to say that I am a little impressed that for a girl who isn’t the brightest, she had a great plan. She had me convinced that she loved me, that we were exclusive, and that she didn’t want to be the Luna, she just wanted to be with me. That was the best one, and the one that Heath showed me was the biggest lie of all. Stephanie couldn’t wait to drop me after she found out that I would be returning back to B***d Rose, and that I would lose my ranking. When she found out that I was going to be demoted to a warrior, and have to work my way back up, she dropped me like a hot potato. That was also when I found out that she had found her mate, a warrior, and rejected him, to try to get a higher rank wolf as her mate.

It was humiliating that I fell for her plan, I thought I was using her when actually she was using me, and I had no clue at all about it. I also hate that so many in the pack knew what was going on between us, especially Heath and Von. I disappointed them with my choice to do this, and they tried to warn me, but I refused to listen. I made a mental note to make sure I tell my children to wait for their mates. I grimaced at that, I was also warned myself, and I didn’t wait. I thought I knew more than my parents did at the time, and so I did what I wanted to do. It bit me in the a*s, and I know I need to start even earlier with drilling that point into our own kids. Mom and dad started it when we were like 10 years old, so I am going to make sure that we get it nailed down and start at 5 years old. I don’t want them to ever make the same mistakes that I did, and that was the whole reason that my parents had warned me. It was to prevent me from doing exactly what I ended up doing. Hopefully, my own children will learn from my mistakes, and not duplicate what I did.

“Look, the work got done, does it really actually matter who did it? I mean no one was really hurt by doing 1 extra chore and they got off on time, so it was within their work hours. It shouldn’t be this big of a deal. I mean, isn’t this a petty problem and a waste of all of our time here?” Stephanie said to the Council, and her voice grates my nerves hearing her speak. How did I find anything at all about her attractive? I love Peyton’s soft soothing voice, it makes me happy to hear it each and every time. What the hell was I thinking? I had to have just been wanting to get out and experience all that I thought my parents had been keeping from me, not realizing that they were indeed protecting me.

“Actually, it isn’t petty at all, you took over $42,000 from the Ever Green pack, for work that you never did. More so, the incoming Luna felt compelled to make it right. She didn’t feel like your fellow co-workers should have to wait on you to give the money back. We are all aware that you don’t want to pay it back. But they did the work and should have been paid the benefit of it. That is something that a Luna does, Ms. Turner. She takes care of and protects her pack. She doesn’t steal from her pack, or abuse her power, by trying to force others into doing their assigned work for them. A true Luna nurtures and takes care of her people. You need to keep that in mind when you think that this was a victimless crime. Those women did numerous jobs for you, you pulled this for over a year, yet you sit her in front of us like it was no big deal. You are absolutely shameless, and I just wanted to get that on record. We can move on to the bigger matter now” The fifth council member said, and Stephanie shifted in her seat. We could all see that she was really nervous about the threat that she made. Her lawyer started to speak to her, and she kept shaking her head no to everything that he told her. He was getting angry with her, and before he could stop her, she stood up to speak.

“Hey, I didn’t mean it, it is just something people say. I wasn’t actually going to kill her. I was just jealous of her stealing my man away from me, and I let my anger get the best of me, that was it. Plus, she isn’t actually a Luna yet, so it doesn’t really count. I am not a member of the Ever Green pack, so she wouldn’t be my Luna anyway. So, I should just get a warning or something like that, because I didn’t mean it how it sounded” Stephanie said and then nodded like we should all just take her word for it. Like since she said she didn’t mean it, that should be good enough for the Council. I had to put my hand to my mouth to stop myself from laughing out loud at her thought process. She was not joking at all when she said it at the Dark Savage hospital, she meant what she had said. Everyone here who heard her say it on that recording knew that she meant it when she said it, she is just blowing smoke, and we all knew it.

“Ms. Turner, what pack are you a member of?” one of the council members asked her.

“The Dark Savage pack,” Stephanie told them.

“Wrong, she is NOT a member of my pack. She had been there for a little while, but she is not a member of Dark Savage” Jasper called out loudly and then gave Stephanie a hard look.

“Actually, Dark Savage now belongs to Alpha Cameron, but we are aware that she is not a member of Dark Savage. Ms. Turner, did you stop at the border of Ever Green when you were leaving and denounce your allegiance with the pack?” Leader Miller asked her.

“No, I was just getting the hell out of there as I was told I would be arrested if I wasn’t gone in one hour’s time” Stephanie said and then turned around to look at Gabi and glare.

“You are still a member of Ever Green, Ms. Turner. So, she is indeed your incoming Luna. Before you go to argue with us again, it doesn’t matter if you were a member or not. Peyton is the daughter of the current Alpha King. His children, who are always exposed to potential harm were protected by the same laws that a Luna is protected. It is to make sure that someone thinks twice before harming them, as the penalty is steep for making that choice. You have already been made aware of this fact and there are numerous witnesses to the fact that he had told you that Peyton was his daughter, before these threats were made. You were aware of the fact that she was his daughter when you made the threat, Ms. Turner. The sentence that is carried with this threat, is the same, you just kind of duplicated it. You threatened the incoming Luna of Ever Green, who IS your soon-to-be Luna, as well as the daughter of the current Alpha King. The end result is the same. You are documented saying it, and the penalty for it is death” Leader Miller said.

“That wasn’t me, that was someone else on that video. You can’t prove it was me. I would never say something like that to Peyton. We may not see eye to eye about my losing Percy, but I wouldn’t try to kill her. I have never hurt anyone before in my life” Stephanie cried out in her defense. I guess she suddenly forgot the part when she admitted that it was her, but she was just joking around about it.

“Ms. Turner, you already admitted it, in front of this whole courtroom. You can’t backpedal now with it. You said, it, we all know it was you, and we can bring up witnesses to that effect as well. I was there, I was in the hallway. I saw you screaming your head off and I was looking right at you when you said it. You did it, I can have 5 witnesses up here to testify to it, but it is a documented fact. I can have the audio verified as being you, but you will not be able to refute this fact. Council member Phillips and I both eye witnessed you saying this. As did the Alpha King and Queen, Alpha Heath Poe, Alpha Cameron Adkins, Alpha Tanner Luna Gabi, Percy, and Peyton, were also there, and eye-witnessed it as well” Leader Miller told Stephanie.

“Everyone that you mentioned has someone who is involved with or loves Peyton, of course, they will all lie for her. I am just an Omega nobody cares about, so naturally I will be the one to be punished for something that I never said” Stephanie yelled out into the court.

“Stephanie, I saw you, another Council member saw you, Alpha Cameron saw you. None of us are related to or lying to the court, about this” Leader Miller said.

“I heard you too. I was looking at you screaming your fool head off as you were being taken away because Percy found his mate. You hated losing him, but you lost him the second he found her. You weren’t pining for long because you came right to Dark Savage and hooked up immediately with Jasper, I would know, I felt it. So don’t play like your heart was broken. You don’t have one. You just have an agenda and will do anything to get a higher rank. You are an absolutely disgusting person, and I can’t stand to even look at you. You threatened the nicest person that I have ever met, and I wish I could punch you all over again for your comments” Cassidy told Stephanie as she looked at her with contempt.

“You should talk, you tried to kill me. Because you were mad that I wanted your position as Lead Omega, and with me sleeping with Jasper. You’re just jealous of me. Because he loved me and wanted me. You don’t have anyone who wants you, Cassidy. Peyton just lucked out getting mated to Percy. That is the ONLY reason that he wants her. He liked being with me, he wanted me and came to me on his own. He didn’t have to be made to do it by the Goddess forcing him to want me by making me his mate. He saw me, and he wanted to have a relationship with me. You need to shut the hell up because you don’t have anything to talk to me about. You are the real criminal here, you almost killed me” Stephanie told Cassidy.

“I wish I had started sooner on you Stephanie. You don’t deserve to live with how you act. Rejecting your mate, yea, Stephanie don’t look so shocked. I met him and I know you rejected him, he is still at Ever Green, and he was blessed with a second chance mate. They are perfect together and he realizes what a bullet he dodged with you, he has a nice family now. But you didn’t get a second chance mate, know why? When you abuse what the Goddess gives you as her blessing, she doesn’t give you a second chance. I have a second chance now, and I have never been happier. He didn’t judge me, he knows the pain that I went through, everything that Jasper has put me through. The Goddess finally gave me what I wanted most in my life. Someone who smiles when he sees me and wants to be with me. A mate who doesn’t want to “get something” out of the deal and is happiest when he is with me. Even if I only have a little time with him, I am thankful for the last week since I met him. I will be forever grateful that the Goddess forgave me for my actions and made up for getting Jasper as my first mate. If I had the chance again, I would have accepted his rejection, and run to find Trevor right then. I was just a stupid young girl who really thought that if I became who Jasper wanted, he would finally love me. The truth is, that was never going to happen, because of my rank” Cassidy told Stephanie and we can all see how emotional she is getting speaking her truth.

“Yeah, right, YOU got a second chance mate. After all that you have done. I am calling bullshit on that. There is no way that happened. How? How could you have been forgiven by the Goddess? You are a killer, the only one up here on trial, who killed not one, but two people. You are going to try to lay that bullshit down to us. I am not buying it, not one little bit. You go tell that to someone else because I am quite sure I am not alone in not believing it” Stephanie told her and then started laughing at her. Stephanie was going to lose that bet. Cassidy had found her second chance mate at Ever Green. Doctor Trevor Williams who had helped get Peyton out of B***d Claw was her second chance mate, and he couldn’t be happier about finding her. As a doctor, he knows the kind of trauma that Cassidy went through, the level of pain that she had felt when her mate willingly marked another woman as his chosen mate. He is here today, further back in the courtroom, with warriors around him, in case this goes badly for Cassidy. He agreed to comply with what the Council voted, but I know that it might kill him if she were put to death for her actions. I see her glance back at him and give him a smile before looking back at Stephanie.

“ Now that I have cut Jasper loose, I have a good mate. One who doesn’t cheat on me every time I turn around. One that doesn’t mark someone else while we are still bound together, not once but twice. That was the only regret that I have in life. That I punished the wrong people. I allowed the pain that was making me go out of my mind, allow me to knowingly kill two women who were only guilty of them wanting my mate. He didn’t tell them that he already had a mate, he lied to them, and to me. Telling me that we could be together after he made Carrie his Luna first. I was an i***t, and young, and fell for it. His marking Carrie almost killed me. I really think that was his goal. I bet he was actually counting on his marking her to kill me because we have all heard of cases where it has killed a few she-wolves before. He thought that I would die, because I am just a weak Omega, and then he would be free of our bond. But it didn’t kill me. It just broke my heart. The fact that he could do that to me, for him to want me dead, just because I wanted to keep him as my mate. I honestly don’t know how I made it through the second time when he marked Jasmine. I was told that I had been out for two weeks. Waking up in the hospital when someone found me passed out in my room when I didn’t show up for work the next morning. Jasper Alpha commanded me not to tell anyone that he was my mate, so I couldn’t tell them. Even when they both figured it out, and asked me directly, I couldn’t tell them. I wish that I had just agreed when he rejected me and left to go find my worthy mate, instead of taking it out on two women who never realized that Jasper was using them for their rank. He did them both wrong too, allowing them both to think that he loved them when he never did. Jasper loves himself, and only wanted to be Alpha King. He is a dangerous man, and I am glad that he got caught before he could put his plan into action. He has hurt so many in his quest for getting more, having more, and for him to be more. He aligned himself with men, and women, to get himself closer to his goal, all because he is power hungry, and he didn’t want to just be an Alpha. It wasn’t good enough for him” Cassidy told the courtroom, and I could tell how shocked everyone was by her words.

Everyone present was well aware that Christian was already confirmed to be the next Alpha King, he had been since birth. For Jasper to be able to take it over, let everyone present know that he had planned to kill not only Christian but Bryson as well, to take over the position he coveted so much. Gasps rang out all over the room as stunned expressions were seen, and the hall grew to an uproar of people that were angry that Jasper would even think that he was worthy to be the Alpha King. For Jasper to have that level of violence in him, to kill two young men, to take over as Alpha King, showed what kind of a man he really was to everyone here in the courtroom. Everyone is looking at him now, and I watch both Amanda and Luna Queen DeAnna stand up in the row in front of us. This is about to really go badly for Jasper.
