Chapter 93

Jasper’s POV

Dark Shadow Pack

I would have never thought that when I got requested at the gate, it would be for them to deliver my dream girl to me. I still wanted Peyton, she had grown into a beautiful woman, and I would be glad to take her as my Luna. I don’t know why they were here, but King Sebastian did appear to be surprised at my condition when he saw me. He knows something about what is going on, and I wish he would tell me what is going on, as I do feel terrible. I have been feeling bad since two days after the ambush occurred. I swear if I thought that someone from Ever Green could have gotten on my packland without being found, I would take the matter up with the Council members. I don’t know if they were trying to kill me, but I have not taken in anyone new, not since I allowed Stephanie to enter my pack. I know for a fact that it isn’t her, as she is even sicker than I am. She declined quickly and has been in the hospital for the last two days. The pack doctor had tried everything that he could think of illness-wise, but nothing is coming back as the cause. He has been my pack doctor for a while now, and I see the concern, and fear, in his eyes.

I was in my Office talking with Cameron about my mysterious illness when he got the mindlink. I was weak but I didn’t want to show how bad this illness was affecting me, I know that I just ended up doing so anyway. I hated being so weak, I had to hold onto the gate to keep from falling down. Stephanie was just an Omega, and she went down fairly quickly. I think that the only reason I am not hospitalized yet is the fact that I am an Alpha. I was bred to be strong, but I am really actively worse every single day. I was amused at first that King Sebastian acted like I was about to die. But after listening to what he said, I suddenly remembered that both my Luna’s had acted like Stephanie is acting right before they died. I no longer took it as a joke. The king and the Leader of the Council both knew something, and if my life really was in danger, I needed to know it too. I was very concerned as I really just assumed that we were sick, not that death was imminent for either one of us.

We arrived at the pack hospital, and I am having to lean on the counter while we wait for the doctor. I hated looking so weak, especially in front of Peyton, but I am spent. Walking at the gate, and from the packhouse to the hospital has drained me. My Beta hurries to go get me a wheelchair to get me to the room when it is ready. The King and Council Leader Miller are speaking with the head nurse about my condition, and she goes and pages my doctor to the front desk again, this time with more intensity. What in the hell is going on here? Since when does King Sebastian not want me dead? He has been furious since he found out I was planning on taking Peyton when she was 13. I wasn’t going to hurt her, mate, or mark her. I was going to try to get her to fall in love with me, by having her live here with me. I knew it would be a matter of time before she fell for my handsome looks, she wouldn’t be able to help herself. I have done this successfully numerous times.

I had it all planned out, I knew I would just have to be patient, and kind to her. To take it slowly and then when she turned 16, she could come out to be trained with my men, and I would just happen to be out there training too. There was a reason I had such a success rate with the ladies. I trained all the time, I am cut and in peak condition and I have never had to chase any of them. I have never had to try to get a woman, they always threw themselves at me, coming to me willingly. I have to thank my parents for that because it is solely because of them that my face is the perfection that it is. Well, it was perfection, until Heath grazed me with that bullet. It healed well, but my face is no longer perfect anymore. I owe Heath the same, I will make sure that he gets the payback that he deserves before he leaves here. I will just have to be very careful about it. The doctor approaches the nurse, who is still with King Sebastian and Council Leader Miller, and they all have a hushed discussion. The doctor looked surprised and then starts yelling out a lot of instructions to the nurses at the nurse’s station.

I have no idea what was relayed, but from the sound of it, I was going to die, if they hadn’t come here. Maybe I will rethink my vengeance on Heath if they can save my life. I did go after him first, so I will call it a draw if what they came here to tell me ends up saving my life. My Beta hurries down the hallway with the nurses to get me in a room, and I am put in the room next to Stephanie’s. I guess they wanted to keep us together even though she is not officially anything to me. We just slept together, a lot at first, but after seeing her true colors, I get helped onto the bed by my doctor and my Beta, as I am a lot bigger than they are and a solid 230 lbs. The nurses get right to work and get me set up with IVs and then bring in a large bowl as they were giving me Ipecac syrup to induce vomiting. I have no idea what is going on, but if they know this will help, I don’t mind doing it. They are doing the same thing in Stephanie’s room, but due to the large number of people in the hallway, I heard exactly when Stephanie saw Percy, and then Peyton.

“Percy, thank the Goddess you came for me. I knew that you would finally come to your senses and want me back. I love you. Why did you take so long to come to me? Please don’t leave me again” Stephanie starts by saying to him. She is loud, and she has been having a lot of hallucinations in the last week. She was weak but seeing Percy, she perked right up. I am glad to give her back to him, he can leave Peyton here in exchange if he is dumb enough to make one.

“Stephanie, I am a mated wolf. Do not speak to me, we are nothing to each other, and I curse the day I met you. You are nothing but a user, and all you wanted was the Luna position. You only love yourself, no one else. You won’t be getting back with me. I have my Luna, I do not need you at all. You are never allowed back at Ever Green, as you have been banished, you can continue to stay here for the rest of your life if Alpha Jasper still wants you” Percy said in a cold hard tone. I knew it wasn’t going to be that easy. Stephanie was with me within hours of arriving here, she just wants to be a ranked wolf, and shop. That is her goal. She is not willing to do her job assignments or help anyone else out. She spends her time trying to con other Omegas into doing her work for her.

She is a real piece of work. She even tried to take Cassidy’s head Omega position away from her, and it worked for a week, but she ended up messing everything up in the kitchen area. I had to set it right again, I cannot have things so disorganized. I need things done just like Cassidy does them. I feel guilty about what I have done to Cassidy in the last 10 years. She was my mate, and before I could keep Bain from doing it, he slept with her. He knew my plan, and having an Omega as my Luna, was NEVER part of my plan. I would only accept rising in power, not losing it. I laid back on my bed and tried to rest. I am very weak right now, and I would like to get well, I know I need to rest to get better, but I have things that have to be completed like most of the paperwork and approving all the orders for the pack. I already knew that Stephanie was not done, because she had only seen Percy. She hadn’t seen Peyton yet, probably because he was most likely blocking her from Stephanie’s view. I didn’t want to hear her speak, her voice is annoying as hell. I need to see if I can get moved to anywhere else in the hospital. I cannot rest with her near me.

“What the hell are you doing here Gabi? This isn’t your pack, and you need to leave right now. Heath too, neither of you belongs here at Dark Savage. You people can’t just bully your way in here. You really have some nerve” Stephanie yells out to them, and I see King Sebastian’s head raise up to listen. Council Leader Miller looked at him, with a questioning look on his face, and King Sebastian put his finger to his mouth, and Council Leader Miller nods. Now, this should be getting interesting.

“You have no authority here Stephanie. You need to just lay back, rest, and shut your mouth. I will not have you talk any kind of way to my family. It will not end well for you. You need to heed my warning because this is the only one that you will get” I heard Gabi reply back, in a calm tone. I heard it, the threat implied in what she had just said. I know why too, all of us do. Stephanie will be going bananas when she sees Peyton. I allow a smile to cross my face, I just realized that I am OK with staying here now. I have a ringside seat for the show that is about to begin. I don’t have to see it to know what is about to happen here. They came to help, and all that i***t woman can do is talk s**t to them, even I am keeping my mouth shut, and I am the Alpha here.

“You have no authority here either Luna” Stephanie fires back, saying the word Luna in a sarcastic manner. She probably did a stupid expression along with it, and I suddenly wish I could see what was going on too. Man, Stephanie is even more ignorant than I gave her credit for. I hope she doesn’t ask me for help, or any of my men because I won’t be allowing it. She probably thinks that because she is sick that she will get a pass, but she would be wrong.

“Stephanie, I think you need to just calm down, and give your body, and your mouth an opportunity to rest. No one here wants to hear you speaking anymore. If you have an ounce of intelligence in you, you need to use it now. No one spoke to you first, you are starting something with people that you cannot beat. Do not take us giving you grace for anything more than it is. I can still have you brought up on embezzlement charges. You are WELL over the Werewolf Council’s $5,000 mark for stealing from packs. You are, in fact, over eight times that amount, so if you don’t stop, I will exercise my rights to have you imprisoned for that theft. It is up to you, please think before you speak again, because when you have gone too far, I doubt Alpha Jasper will step in to protect you” Heath tells her in a hard tone. He is trying to warn her, but she is not smart enough to get the message. He is correct, they can have her, I am done with her. She was a nice distraction for about a month, but I wasn’t planning on her staying here forever. She is more of a problem here at my pack than a benefit. She has overstayed her welcome and needs to leave Dark Savage because she only causes problems here. She thinks too highly of herself, and refuses to work, we all have to work here, she dodges, hides, and cons others into taking some of her workload. Her passing off her daily list to others overworks them, but it did make it seem like she was working here, at least at first it did. I know better now, and Cassidy was sick of it, so she is on her all the time to do her assigned duties. Stephanie is complaining all the time about having to clean the bathrooms, but I think it is fitting for her, so I backed Cassidy when she started giving Stephanie that job. She deserves it.

Leader Miller seemed very interested in the embezzlement talk and looked to King Sebastian about it. King Sebastian nodded to him and then mouthed, “I will tell you later”. I see the second Council member, the only female on the Council, moving from my door over to Stephanie’s to watch what was happening. I smiled again when I heard, “What the hell are you looking at lady? You can stay out of my room. You don’t belong here, and I don’t want any members of Ever Green to come around me. I don’t trust anyone from there but Percy. Percy baby, why won’t you come and sit with me? I am so sick, I need some comfort. I know you can hear me, Percy” Stephanie’s voice gets even louder as he ignores her. She is almost crying in her frustration, but I know why. We have been having the same issues with hallucinations, delirium, trouble breathing, and a painful irritation in our mouths. I am suddenly glad that I hadn’t asked to be moved away from here. They are forgetting how much they don’t like me and now focusing on how much they ALL don’t like her.

What the hell did I ever see in her? Oh, yea, she has a pretty face and a smoking hot body. But that is all, just a pretty shell. She is not nice, kind to anyone, or loving, she is only greedy and manipulative. All her positives are only on the outside, she has no content of character. I close my eyes, in an effort to hear better as if that will work. But I do not want to miss anything that is said in the next room. Two minutes later I smiled as apparently, Percy shifted, and Peyton came into Stephanie’s view. “Why are YOU here?” the fury in Stephanie’s voice is chilling. She blows right past hate, straight into loathing, all because Stephanie wanted what wasn’t hers. Well s**t, I guess I did it too. I try to fight back the guilt that I have for what I was trying to do, and I can’t excuse my actions. She was a young teenager, and I was so focused on getting what I wanted, that I almost ruined Peyton’s life. I have been battling the guilt that I have struggled with, having heard some of the rumors of what she had been forced to endure, all because I did the same thing that she tried to do. I tamper down my guilt, but I know that it won’t go away. I had gotten a good report of what they had done to her at the B***d Claw pack, and after I heard I almost went back to attack them. I wish I had known then when that b***h came by here to get money from me for information on Peyton. I would have gotten the information, and she would have never left here. She was the reason for all of Peyton’s suffering. I remember her being the one to tell us where Peyton was, if they hadn’t tried to fight my team that day, no one would have died that day. I never wanted anyone hurt by my getting Peyton in my possession, I just wanted to start getting her used to me, so she could fall in love with me.

“You stupid slut, you just popped in and took my boyfriend of over two years away from me. There is no way that your weak a*s was mated to him. I could beat you up, and I don’t even train. You are nothing compared to me. You are barely even passingly pretty. You are in no way competition to me. If I hadn’t been forced to leave the packlands, I WOULD have gotten him back. I still can get him back. He has wanted me for years, you may have him now, but I WILL get him back. I will make you suffer like you made me suffer by getting me booted from Ever Green. There is NOTHING special about you, and I could snap my fingers and get him back now, if I wanted to” Stephanie yells at Peyton. Oh s**t, now the real show begins.

King Sebastian exits my room with Council Leader Miller right behind him. I was right she IS an i***t, and I can’t wait to hear this play out. “Stephanie Turner, are you serious? Who the hell are you speaking to her like that? You are nothing but a pack slut who got mad because the man she tried to lead and trick for over two years, knew better than to actually sleep with you. I thank the Goddess for that every day. You are not worth one tear from Peyton. Percy got caught up in your web of lies, deceit, and you begging him to make you his chosen Luna for Ever Green. Since that didn’t work, you decided to cause a scene when she arrived, telling her lies and making yourself look pretty bad in the process. I wish that she had called me, or mindlinked, me the moment that she knew. I wish that I had been given the opportunity to be there before you managed to run away with your tail between your legs. You would be rotting away in a cell, preferably at my pack so I could know that my daughter was safe from your evil tricks. I am just thankful that you are a moron, or else your plan might have worked. Peyton is a quality she-wolf, not because she is my daughter, but because she cares for others, she is kind and willing to help anyone. Even when they have done her wrong, she gives grace. She also tries to do all that she can to make sure that no one ever suffers like she had to for so many years. She ended up using her own money to pay back all of the people that you forced to do your work, while you still reaped the benefits from it. There is nothing about her, that you can even try to compare to, you are a vile person, and have absolutely no redeeming qualities in you” King Sebastian told her in a cold tone, and I already know what the expression on his face will be. He is not one to be messed with, he is very imposing.

“She, she, is your daughter?” Stephanie asked, and now she has fear in her voice.

“Yes, she is. She is my only daughter. I was glad that Heath, Von, Gabi, and Tanner were there to help her out with this. You knew he wasn’t your mate and yet you still conspired to try to take him from his mate. You do not know better than the Goddess herself. You just wanted the title, and money to shop with. You never loved him, you just wanted something that you didn’t deserve. I will not allow you to speak against her again. If you chose to do that, I will make sure that you are charged with embezzlement, as is my right. You had disappeared to avoid being punished, but you did take money for work that you never did. Just because you ran away doesn’t mean that your crime is forgiven. The women that did your work all filled out statements about how you coerced them to do your work. Heath and Von still have all the sheets that you signed to state that you had done the work that you were getting paid to do. I will make sure that you get punished for your crime against Ever Green. Maybe having the time to think about your actions will help mould you into a better she-wolf. I will make sure that all who have committed a known crime will be punished for it” King Sebastian told her.

I had to contain my laugh at her being silenced. I am glad she was going to be punished. Then it hit me, he had threatened her and then had a follow-up sentence after it. Who else was he talking about? Me? I thought that I was past this, he can’t prove anything, or he would have been here sooner. I am starting to worry. King Sebastian landing here, with two members of the Council, is not a good thing. If my memory is correct the two members that he has with him are the sticklers for the laws being followed. I mean, the whole Council fully follows the letter of the law, but the two Members that are here, are the ones who enjoy looking for, finding, and tacking on additional crimes if they apply. Maybe they knew what was going on here, and who they were after, it might not be about me. But doubt is creeping in on me now, I know that King Sebastian is not stupid, he knew this whole time. I know I am not in the clear here, and now I am concerned. I will just focus on getting stronger and trying to take advantage of the situation. I mean, Peyton got delivered here, maybe she will end up staying. I will see what I can do to make that happen.
