Chapter 98

Percy’s POV

Dark Savage pack

I came into the kitchen with my dad and Heath, after we watched in horror as Cassidy just picked up the teacup and downed it all at once. She didn’t even know what they were going to say to her. She was just so overcome with guilt at what she had done, that she didn’t want to live anymore. The Council had been speaking with King Sebastian about what options they had for Cassidy and I was glad that Council Member Phillips had experience in this. Council Member Phillips had been rejected and knew the pain that Cassidy and my mom had talked about. She knew what kind of toll it took on you. She had cried hearing what Jasper had done to her. The pain that Cassidy went through, and even though she didn’t know the pain of having your mate mark another, she has done hundreds of investigations as a member of the Council. She knew what kind of trauma the rejected mate felt when that happened. She said that it was the ultimate betrayal.

I could feel how upset Peyton was though out bond. She is heartbroken, and she wanted to try to help Cassidy and was asking them if there was a reason for her to do it. We all knew what she was asking, and I am glad that he father told her quickly to save her. I think that with each passing moment we are losing her. Peyton had me help her lay Cassidy on her back on the floor. Cassidy gives Peyton another smile and whispers, “I am sorry, Peyton” before she slumps to the floor.

Peyton goes to work quickly. She puts her hands on Cassidy and she is concentrating so hard. Her eyes are now closed, and she has Cassidy’s limp hands in hers. She took a lot of poison at one time, and I know that Peyton has her work cut out for her, as I don’t see Cassidy breathing anymore. Cassidy is lying still on the floor, and I look up and across the bar to where my mother sits with a horrified look on her face, and my dad is right behind her with his hands on her shoulders and his head on the top of hers. He is trying to wrap her up, so he can provide comfort to her, and I don’t know if I need to do that for Peyton or not. I don’t know if my providing comfort to Peyton will help her or hamper her while she is trying to heal Cassidy.

I looked at King Sebastian, who is currently standing and watching over Peyton as she tries to take the poison from Cassidy. He feels my gaze and looks at me, he knows I need to ask him something, so I just blurt out, “Does Queen DeAnna get strength from you while she is doing this? Will it help Peyton, or hurt her, if I try to give her my strength and comfort?”

“I don’t know, usually DeAnna is healing, not bringing them back from the dead. I will have to ask her” King Sebastian said, and then his eye glazed over to mindlink Queen DeAnna. We all wait breathlessly for his answer, and I see Peyton start to glow. I know she is using so much of her power right now. She is so focused on what she is doing, and I have never seen her do anything like this. She is radiating so much power as she tries to heal Cassidy.

“She may need you to help her, Percy. DeAnna is on her way with Christian right now. They are bringing the helicopter to get her quickly, it should only take about 15 minutes for them to arrive. We need to get some flares ready for them at a flat surface for them to land” King Sebastian said. I quickly get behind Peyton and took in a deep breath before I put my arms around her waist and laid my chest against her back.

I heard gasps around the room, but I kept my eyes closed and just focused on giving Peyton the support she needs while she does this. I can feel how much she cares for this woman, and if Peyton believes in her, and she is a good judge of character, I have faith in her as well. We stay like this with no one speaking in the room. It is quiet and about 10 minutes later, I hear coughing coming from in front of us. I just keep focusing on Peyton and her needs as I keep my arms tightly wound around her. I am keeping myself calm by taking deep breaths at Peyton’s neck. I need her as much as she needs me. I just focus on her, and she is letting me know how much she appreciates me through the bond. I heard the sound of someone getting sick, and I open my eyes to see the tea that Cassidy drank on the floor next to her. Peyton had tilted her head to the side so she wouldn’t choke on it, or swallow it again when it was coming up. I loosen my grip on Peyton and watch as Cassidy’s eyes flutter open and she seems surprised at waking up.

I guess she would know that she took a massive amount of it, so she knows that she shouldn’t be alive. I bet they forgot that Peyton was a healer. I see someone putting down a towel to cover the tea on the floor, and the omegas that had been in the kitchen earlier making dinner earlier had now returned. I bet they were wondering what was going on, I know I would if I hadn’t been watching what was happening from the meeting room this whole time. The Omegas all look stunned, and I released Peyton and went to stand up, but my legs are too weak to lift me. I am drained. I decide to wait a minute before I try again. Peyton falls back into me, and I put my legs out to pull her onto my lap. She can’t even lift her head from expending her power in order to save Cassidy.

The back door flies open, and I see King Sebastian entering with Queen DeAnna who comes across the room straight to Peyton. Christian is right behind her, also concerned for Peyton. Queen DeAnna wastes no time in dropping down and putting her hands on Peyton. I see the same glow that Peyton had and watched in amazement as she heals Peyton, and I notice that both Peyton and I are glowing with her power. She was helping us both out, but I was just worried about Peyton. I will get my strength back eventually with rest. Peyton did the work, I was just there to support her while she did it. If I can take any of her pain away, I will do it. She is so important to me. I don’t think Peyton will even understand the depth of it.

Queen Deanna stands after a minute, and she smiles down at me. She has a lot of love in her eyes as she looks at Peyton and then me, and said, “My daughter is lucky to have you, Percy. She does know how much you love her. I know you wanted it to be just her being healed, but you gave her what she needed to be able to save this woman. Her strength alone couldn’t have done it, as she was dead. It is a lot harder to save someone who is dead, than when they are alive. Much, much harder. You played a part in this, and I felt your love for Peyton. I am so happy the Goddess made you, her mate.”

King Sebastian is also smiling at me, as well as her brother Christian. They know that Queen DeAnna was speaking the truth to me. The whole room is looking at us as Cassidy sits up and is then helped up by her team and assisted to a chair, while the rest of them clean up the mess on the floor. I feel Peyton squeezing my hands with hers, and when I looked down at her, she was smiling up at me. She seems fine now, weak, but fine. She puts her hand on the back of my head and pulls my face forward to give me a k**s. I grab the back of her head to deepen the k**s, and I couldn’t care less who is watching us. This is my mate, and I love her. They should all know the power of the mate bond, and I am OK with them all knowing that I will do anything to help her, anything.

“DeAnna, I have never seen anything like it. Percy went to help Peyton while she was healing Cassidy. He wrapped his arms around her and then bent to cover her and it was like an explosion of light in here. Peyton’s light went from like a dim light to almost blinding us with the brightness of it. I have never had any doubts about Percy’s love for Peyton after him being so upset in my office and wanting to go leave to hunt for her, even while thinking she was an Omega. He just wanted her, for her. I am pleased with their bond and wish that everyone thought as he did. The Goddess always knows who to put together. If only Jasper had done the same, he would have become a great Alpha. Instead, he decided that he deserved more than the Goddess wanted for him. His planning and treachery will be his downfall, and we need to go take care of that very soon. Cassidy, we were not here to pass judgment on you. We could all tell that you have been dealing with the guilt of your actions this whole time. Council Member Phillips has done extensive work on the trauma associated with your mate marking another, while still bound to you. It is amazing that you managed to survive the first time, let alone the second. It is undocumented and completely unheard of that happening to another she-wolf. I am quite sure that your pain caused a break and although you did commit crimes, we know that you were driven to it, by him, on both occasions. You have suffered so much in the last 10 years, and we will not be punishing you any further. But we do need your help” King Sebastian told Cassidy and both of the Council members nodded in agreement.

Cassidy was clearly stunned, and then asked, “What do you need me to do?”

We were all curious as to what they were going to ask, and you could have heard a pin drop in the room while everyone waited to hear what they needed. What does the Alpha King need Cassidy to do, the Omegas in the room were surprised by the most powerful Alpha needing help from an Omega. They were all stunned and happy that they were recognized as being valued and needed. None of the people in the group had treated them badly, and they had all treated them with respect, so they had already decided that whatever needed to be done, they would be helping with it as well.

“We will need you to go and accept Alpha Jasper’s rejection. He has caused you nothing but pain and heartache. He does not deserve to have you here giving him more strength because his mate is here with him. He will also be answering for crimes he has committed. We need you to speak of it, and what you know that he has done. He has done enough wrong, so you don’t have to embellish anything. Just tell us what you know to be true, on the record, and sign statements that it is true as you know it. We will then go and take care of Jasper. I will also be speaking to his Beta, Cameron, to see if he is up to the task of running Dark Savage. As Beta, he will be the one to take over this pack, but if he is the same as Jasper, I don’t want to leave it to him. I have people who can come and take over here if needed. But if you know something that we should know about Cameron, now is the time to tell us. I want you to all be taken care of here, and respected in your own home” King Sebastian told them, and I can see how much they respected him for it. He is showing them all that he really does care, and they all start talking at once, with Cassidy smiling at them.

“I will be glad to tell you what I know, I already mentioned it to Peyton. I felt terrible knowing that he was making plans to take someone, but I didn’t know exactly who they were. I also didn’t know that he was making plans to take a young teenager from her home, let alone that it was the Alpha King’s daughter. He kept that from me, and only the 4 men in the room with him knew the whole story. Jasper has thought himself much more important than other people, and that he was destined to be more than an Alpha. He tried to force that happening, and he deserves what he is about to get. I do not feel bad for him, at all. I will help you in any way that I can, but I do not want to stay here any longer. I don’t have a place to go. I don’t have family left, but if I could get some travel money or a ride to another pack, I would appreciate it” Cassidy told us, and I already knew what was going to happen and was smiling before the words came out of Peyton’s mouth.

“Nonsense, you are coming to Ever Green with us. You will stay with me. I already care very much about you, and I would love to have you there with us. Now we already have a lead Omega, but our team gets paid for what they do, and I think we need to talk to Beta Cameron about implementing that here. Our Lead Omega is ready to retire and was waiting for a good replacement before she did it. Plus, it is time for an overhaul in our kitchen, I help them in there often, and the setup there is old, and needs to be revamped. I think we need a setup there just like you have here. I would love for you to decide to come with us to Ever Green” Peyton told her, and I watched as Cassidy’s eyes teared up again. Cassidy nodded in agreement and said, “Yes, please, I would love that too.”

I heard the kitchen door open and shut again and looked over to see who it was. I watched as Jerry entered the room slowly sniffing the air. Oh, yes, we had forgotten about his mate being here. It didn’t take long before Aubrey’s head snapped up and looked in his direction. They walked slowly to each other before they whispered, “Mate” at each other. I can see the joy on both their faces and they were ecstatic at finding each other and then kissing each other passionately. I see Heath and mom looking at them both with a grin on their faces, and I am glad for him. He has had a tough time of it, and I am glad for her as well. Hearing her story about being rejected was hard to hear, but I know that Jerry will be accepting her, and we now have another new pack member. Peyton is right, we do need a larger, more efficient kitchen. I think that we can get the kitchen at the old packhouse done first, and then tweak the new one so they can both run more efficiently. I know that Cassidy and Peyton will make the same changes that are here at Ever Green as well.

“Jerry, go ahead and take your mate up to pack, we will be leaving first thing in the morning. You are not needed by us tonight” Heath’s voice rang across the room, and they didn’t need any other invitation to take off together hand in hand. I am happy for them both and am glad that they found each other.

“So, are you up to finish this tonight, so you can go pack as well? Cassidy?” I heard King Sebastian ask her. I know I am because he has done enough damage already. It will be my pleasure to get this done.

“I am, King Sebastian” Cassidy’s strong voice rang out, and I am glad that she was willing to do this with us. This was the last step to freeing Peyton from all who wanted to harm her, and I was so glad it was almost over.

“OK, let us finish up here with the others who want to testify against him, and then I will send my tech out to the hospital to set up a camera in Jasper’s room. While we are at it, I think that we should go ahead and get Stephanie on audio and video too, about her willfully stealing from Ever Green. I think her seeing Peyton, and Peyton mentioning to her that she owes her over $42,000 to pay back what she owes, will be all that is needed to get the ball rolling on it. Stephanie was never a criminal mastermind, she is just a petty she-wolf who wanted to take Percy away from his Goddess-given mate. She and Jasper can both be punished for their actions. I think that would be highly fitting for them both” King Sebastian said.

The Omegas then started prepping rooms for the visitors, and the packhouse becomes full quickly. They knew that we would be needing to spend the night, and then leave early in the morning. I hate that my parents got backed up when they wanted to be back home tonight, and I was going to go tell them that if they needed to go, I think we have it under control, but as I went to walk towards them, they stopped me.

“We have spoken to Dawson and Sloan. Anna and her friends have been avoiding them. Plus, Dawson comes down and speaks to the lead Omega and makes sure nothing happens to their food. Anna and her friends are not allowed in the kitchen, and they are fine with us returning tomorrow. Plus, we will get with Sloan’s father when we go to head back tomorrow. We will give him a time frame for him to arrive at B***d Rose, to turn Luna Meghan into the Werewolf Council. Leader Miller and Council Member Phillips have agreed to come with us to deal with her. King Sebastian will be having Jasper, and Stephanie, as his guests in the cells at the Royal Knight pack, until arrangements are made to transport them to where they will receive their punishment. Stephanie will be imprisoned, and Jasper if we can get enough on him, and he is slippery, should get the death penalty” my dad said. And I am glad this is proceeding so quickly. I was really worried about Sloan. We had gone there to help when this happened. I know it was just yesterday morning, but it feels like a hundred things have happened since then. I will be glad when this is all of a done for our whole family.
