Chapter 99

Heath’s POV

Dark Savage pack

We are finally getting somewhere. I am glad that this is almost over actually. This has been a draining two days, and I am just glad that we are at the end of it. Alpha King Sebastian has spoken to Beta Cameron, with both Lead Miller, and I present for the interview process. We need to make sure that we are not putting another bad Alpha in place of the bad Alpha that we are removing from Dark Savage. I know that Royal Beta Harrison Burns and his wife would rather stay at the Royal Knight pack, but if King Sebastian asked them to, they would indeed come here to take over the pack, if only temporarily, for him to be trained.

We didn’t want them to have to do that, as they had been loyal to the King all these years and wanted to stay where they were. I have to say that I was impressed by him, he had good answers, and could quickly come up with answers to the questions that we gave him as we tested him. We are looking for good men, with a respect for the laws, that want their pack to be successful and strong. We want our people to be treated fairly and he seemed receptive to starting to pay the omegas here at Dark Savage. He had thought that way previously, but Jasper had shot him down on it. Cameron clearly had a good head on his shoulders, and he was a strong leader. None of us had a bad feeling about appointing him to the Alpha position, and none of the Omegas had anything bad to say about him. In fact, they seemed to admire him as they said that they have never had an instance where he was disrespectful, or harmful to any of them. The only thing against him was the fact that he was not mated. But the Omegas helped us out with that too. He stayed to himself and didn’t try to get with random she-wolves. He was waiting on his mate, and that was all I needed to hear about that. He is a great candidate, and I was voting for him to succeed Jasper.

I was surprised that Cameron was voted in by all three of us. It is rare for all three to make the decision to all vote for the Alpha, it is usually a 2 to 1 vote. So, I felt very good about how he was going to do as Alpha. I even told him that he can come to visit me at Ever Green or call me at any time to help him when he got to things that he didn’t know what to do. I also told him that I was about to turn Ever Green over to Percy soon and that I could come with Von and spend a week at Dark Savage, to help him sort out everything, and be able to be a successful Alpha. I also told him that after he found his Luna, Von and I could return so she could help train his Luna. It was going to take time, but I had faith in him. He was young, at 21 years old, but it was his lack of training that was going to get him. He was a strong Beta and would only get stronger after the ceremony. He would indeed get Alpha strength at that time, most Alphas were getting their packs at about the same age, but they had already received years of training. They had done a lot of the work, and Jasper had kept the harder work away from Cameron, only giving him the Beta work, and only recently allowing him to even see the Alpha work, now that he was sick. I know Jasper did it to keep Cameron from knowing too much. Knowledge makes you stronger, and the lack of keeps you from being able to advance. Jasper knows this, and his entitled thinking was the main reason he was such a bad Alpha.

We all head out to the hospital now, for the last thing that we need to do here at Dark Savage. It is our whole group, as well as Beta Cameron. We will deal with Stephanie first. I am almost excited to watch this play out tonight. I cannot stand either of them, frankly, I would love to kill Jasper with my bare hands if I could. I will have to volunteer as the person to carry out his sentence if they will allow me to. Him having the nerve to shoot me, at my own pack like that. The disrespect to me and my family, and in front of my daughter when it happened, the fear he gave Von. I could feel the fear that both Gabi and Von had, and rightly so, they thought I was about to be killed, and I hate that it even happened. Jasper is obviously deranged if he thinks that will not be answered. I cannot wait for him to be stripped of his title tonight.

“Well, great. What do I owe the honor of this visit for?” Stephanie bemoans when she sees us arrive. Her expression is one of disgust as she looks at us at her doorway.

“We are here to visit you, Stephanie. We thought you would want to tell us all goodbye” Gabi said in a sarcastic tone. Stephanie didn’t realize that she was messing with her and got visibly excited about the possibility of our leaving and sat up in her bed. She got even more excited about seeing Percy in the hallway, until noticing Peyton next to him. Then she tried to start something to get his attention. Stephanie threw her hospital blanket off of her and then goes to swing her legs over like she was going to get out of bed. Moving slowly to do it in her hospital gown and exposing her thighs to the group. I am sure she was moving like she was still feeling bad to garner sympathy, but it wasn’t working, on any of us. We had put a camera in here an hour ago, it was in between some medical machines, and she had been up and around in the room. She was almost totally healed now that they knew what the issue was with them. She just didn’t need to know that we knew she was fine.

“You absolutely have no shame at all in you, do you?” Peyton’s voice rings out.

“He was mine first” Stephanie replies back in anger, before changing her tone and cooing, “Percy, can you help me stand and go to the bathroom?”

“Sure can,” Percy said and then disappears from her view of him in the hallway. Stephanie frowns at the door, wondering where he went.

“How can I help you, Stephanie?” a nurse asks as she enters the room putting on gloves. Percy was right behind the nurse and his grin cracked us all up. I am proud of him, that was quick thinking.

“Percy, you know I meant you silly. Stop playing and help me, please. I can barely walk because of the poison I was given” Stephanie pouts to him and holds her hands out towards him like she is reaching for him to come and help her.

“Sorry, I knew what you meant, and I got you help as you asked. I will never touch you again. I know you for exactly who you are now, and I am absolutely disgusted at myself for falling for your tricks. I am not under the influence of your lies and manipulation anymore” Percy told her, and she is seething in anger. She deserved it with how she treated him. She tricked him and led him at every turn. She is older than him and had used her body to try to take the Luna position from his mate.

“I don’t think that there is any help for you, Stephanie,” Peyton said in a light tone.

“Who are you to speak to me? I had him first, you just got my nasty seconds. Don’t get a big head about it. You think that just because you are the Alpha King’s daughter that you can get away with anything. But you can’t. I just want to remind you that you are his mate, he is unwillingly drawn to you because of it. I got him to come to me on my own, by my own merit. You couldn’t do that, so keep your smug tone to yourself. The way I see it, I had him attracted to me, naturally. Not because the Goddess forced him to like me” Stephanie said, and I heard several gasps with both Tanner reached out to grab Gabi, as King Sebastian grabbed Luna Queen DeAnna, to stop them from entering the room. They were furious with Peyton and were going to take care of Stephanie right now.

“See, you are weak Peyton, case in point. You can’t even fight your own freaking battles. You are just gonna let your mommy, and future mother-in-law fight them for you. You know, it might not even get that far, as Percy could come to his senses and come back to me” Stephanie said with a smirk. She then winked at Percy and then waved off the nurse that she didn’t need help before putting her legs back up on the bed. She just laid there, uncovered looking directly at Percy, waiting to see if he was going to glance her way. Disappointed as he hugged Peyton and sniffed her neck to keep him calm, never looking in Stephanie’s direction.

‘You disgusting little b***h” we heard being yelled out and Cassidy slipped into the room and punched Stephanie in the face. I could have stopped her, but I was actually OK with whatever punishment Cassidy wanted to dole out to her. Stephanie deserved it, she had caused both Peyton and Cassidy a great deal of pain. She had earned much more than just a black eye as far as I was concerned.

“Percy, she hit me. Please do something” Stephanie held her face, pouting. I am sure it hurt because Cassidy packed a pretty good punch.

“There is nothing that can be done about a black eye except a cold compress. I will go get that nurse back for you” Percy told her, and I heard Peyton laugh. Her laugh made me laugh and that made Stephanie even angrier. So, this has been a pretty good visit so far.

“Does it hurt?” Gabi asked with a smile on her face.

“You people shouldn’t even be here. You are trespassing here at Dark Savage. You all need to leave” Stephanie told us as she pressed the button for the nurse, as no one had moved to go and get a nurse.

“Well, we didn’t want to leave without telling you and Jasper goodbye. That would be rude, and we are nothing if not people who do the right thing” I told her.

“Yea, speaking of the right thing, when are you going to repay the money that you took from Ever Green? I had to pay back all the Omegas that actually did your work for you, while you signed paperwork that said that you had done it. Doesn’t seem fair for you to steal from your co-workers, and make them do your work for over a year. You don’t deserve to get off scot-free and then leave Ever Green with no punishment at all. It really seems like you should pay it back, as you took it. When will you start making payments to get that money back to me?” Peyton said to her.

“Wow, you really are dumber than you look. That is not my fault that they were willing to do my work for me. The work got done, and I got paid. That is on you all for not realizing it sooner. But I won’t be paying it back, there is nothing that you can do to make me either. Gabi said that I could either pay it back or get out of the pack. I chose to get out. There is nothing that you can do to me about it now. Go cry for your money back somewhere else, it is not my problem” Stephanie said and started laughing.

“Actually, stealing from your pack, in any amount in excess of $5,000 is punishable as embezzlement. They have signed statements of you coercing your fellow Omegas to do your work by threatening them if they didn’t. You need to take this seriously, Stephanie. This is a serious charge levied against you” Council member Phillips said to Stephanie. Stephanie looked at her with a sneer on her face and said, “Who the hell are you? I don’t have to answer you. Mind your own freaking business and stay out of mine.

“So, you didn’t threaten your fellow Omegas to do your work for you, for over a year?” Council member Phillips said.

“What if I did? So what? I don’t live there anymore. I don’t answer to them anymore, and if they thought my joking around with them was an implied threat, then that is on them too for being dumb. They should have said something sooner. I was just messing with them. I wasn’t serious, but hey, if they want to do me a favor by taking on one of my duties a day, then that is up to them. I was just messing with them. They need to be able to take a joke better. It was just a misunderstanding between us is all this was. Why are you harping on this now, you just need to let it go and move on. I don’t have the money to pay it back anyway. There is nothing that can be done about it now” Stephanie told us and then sneered at Peyton again, mumbling, “b***h” before turning over in her bed so she would be looking at us anymore.

“I am afraid that there is something that can be done about it, Stephanie. You signed paperwork each week to get your paycheck, that said that YOU did the work that you were getting paid for. You didn’t. It should have been paid extra, to the people who actually physically did the work. They had to make it right for the people who were bullied by you into taking on your work on top of theirs. This just occurred Ms. Turner, this is still a live case, despite your running away. You took money for work that you allegedly did, but you never actually did the work. You lied on the legally binding documents asking if you had done said work. I am afraid that it is a punishable offense, especially in the amount we are speaking of” Council Member Phillips told her. I was working hard to keep the smile off my face.

“Look, I don’t even know who you are lady, but I do know that none of you are welcome to be here. So, you need to pack up, and get out. Don’t make Jasper get the warriors after you. Beta Cameron, why are you allowing them to stay here? You know we do not get along with Ever Green, and B***d Rose. Please escort them out” Stephanie said, and then arched an eyebrow when Beta Cameron didn’t move to do what she had said.

We all heard a strong voice ring out, “She does not speak for me. You knew what the problem was, and you helped us to be able to get better, so I don’t have an issue with you being here at this time. You can take Stephanie with you, she does not have any kind of role here that allows her to kick you off MY packland. So, if you want to take her back with you to punish her, I am totally OK with it” Alpha Jasper called out from the next room. He had clearly been listening to the entire conversation. Stephanie growls out in frustration and anger, Jasper didn’t back her up like she thought he would. She is quite annoying, I am not surprised.

“Then let me tell you who I am, Ms. Turner. I am the third member of the Werewolf Council, Teresa Phillips. I am hereby notifying you that we are putting you under arrest for the theft of $42,078,21, for receiving payment for work that you did not complete at Ever Green. You were paid for 58 weeks, you signed each week guaranteeing that you had completed the work yourself, when in fact you did not complete any of your assigned tasks. Since your illness is no longer life-threatening at this time, you will be coming with us and secured in jail, until the time that your hearing is held. Your crime will be punished according to our laws, and the judgment on your case will be decided by the Werewolf council” Council Member Phillips announced.

Stephanie’s mouth opened and closed several times before she managed to say, “I was never warned that was wrong of me to do. You can’t punish me for that. I didn’t realize. You have no proof against me.”

Actually, we can punish you, and we do have proof. Plus, I must remind you that our laws are very different than human law. Since you are able to just leave the pack in wolf form, and with that the chance it gives you to run away and disappear, we will be arresting you tonight. We can, and did, use the technology at our disposal to record your admission of theft. We don’t really need it as you admitted it in front of me, the Leader of the Werewolf Council, Anthony Miller, as well as the Alpha King, and Queen. But we like to cover our bases and it allows us to show the other three members of the Council what you admitted to us. We WILL be allowing it. Don’t worry, we will assign you a lawyer to help you be defended for your crime, but I doubt anyone will be able to help you beat the charges against you. We already have statements from the Omegas you bullied into doing your work. We also have your own acknowledgment of the crime on the fifty-eight signed sheets that said that you did the work that you were being paid for, when you clearly hadn’t. Each count stands alone, so you will have 58 counts against you, as you did this for over a year” Council Member Phillips told Stephanie who was so outraged now, that she couldn’t speak.

Nurses entered the room and assisted Stephanie into the bathroom to change into her clothes. Stephanie, as predicted, tried to give them a hard time and tried to refuse to change clothes. She wouldn’t be able to wear her hospital gown in the cells overnight. We were not going to give her an inch to be able to lure a guard to have s*x with her, in exchange for her freedom. We all knew that she would do it, plus cells are not usually the nicest or cleanest of places. Stephanie was still stunned by the turn of events until she was escorted out of the room and saw three warriors, only one of them from this pack, waiting to escort her to the cells. Then she found her voice.

“I hate you so much right now Peyton. If it is the last thing that I do, I will kill you” Stephanie said as she looked at Peyton with malice in her eyes as she has mixed handcuffs, with both silver and steel in them. The silver is on the inside of the steel, so it doesn’t burn her, but it does keep her from being able to phase into her wolf or mindlink anyone. There were several growls in response to the threat.

“Am I mistaken, or was that a death threat? To the soon-to-be Luna of Ever Green, and the Alpha King’s daughter?” I asked the group.

“You are correct, Alpha Heath, and it will be on the recording, and admitted into evidence as well. That carries the death penalty, as Stephanie is still a member of your pack at Ever Green. She was never formally made a member of Dark Savage, it will be noted as a threat to her Luna, which carries a higher charge with it. It seems that Stephanie wants as many charges as we can give her” Leader Miller said, and Stephanie started screaming even louder and threatened all of us as she was escorted down the hallway to the elevators.

“Please let the audio have caught the fact that she threatened the Alpha King, Luna Queen, Percy, Council Member Phillips, Alpha Heath, Luna Gabi, Alpha Tanner, and me, in her threat of death, before she was escorted out of the hospital by the warriors” Leader Miller said to be caught on video. We all nodded in response, and this can be used to document it. It would show that she was a potential threat to many high-ranking wolves. Even if it weren’t fully heard on the audio, due to the distance, we were all witness to it.

“Well, let’s go get this over with,” King Sebastian said, and then walked into the next room.
