The old woman signed, “My granddaughter has been kidnapped! Can someone help me find her? Please, kind–hearted people, she’s been taken by bad. people! My granddaughter just turned 18. She went out with her classmates to have fun. On her way home, she said she was going to buy me some desserts, but then she was kidnapped!

“I saw it with my own eyes! I was on a video call with her when it happened! I saw someone cover her mouth and drag her into a car!!!

The old woman grew more and more distressed as she gestured, eventually pounding her chest and sobbing uncontrollably, her frail body trembling. Witnessing this, even those who couldn’t understand her stopped laughing. A few kind bystanders stepped forward to support her while others called the police.

The crowd became chaotic, with people milling about. Meanwhile, the camera zoomed in closer, capturing a clear image of the photo in the old woman’s trembling hands.

Felicia enlarged the photo and froze.

This woman. Wasn’t she the same one from that remote hospital’s parking lot? She was the young woman who had approached her to offer assistance and even called a doctor over to help out.

The video ended, and the screen went black. Felicia sat there in stunned silence until a small piece of cake was offered near her lips. She turned to see Scarlet gesturing with her chin, saying, “Want a bite?

Felicia lowered her head and took a bite. The cream melted in her mouth, sweet but not cloying, momentarily easing her heavy mood.

Scarlet moved her fork to offer another piece. “Want more?”

Felicia shook her head, declining. She reopened her tablet and messaged the video uploader, asking for the old woman’s address and the location where the young woman was kidnapped.

The uploader quickly responded with details that surprised her. The location was in Seldvale!

The uploader added a pre–written message, likely prepared for the flood of inquiries.

“Here’s a follow–up. Someone called the police, and a sign language interpreter was brought in. The old woman filed a report and provided several leads. However, there’s no evidence to back her claim that she witnessed the kidnapping during the video call.

“Additionally, there are no surveillance cameras or witnesses in the area where the young woman was allegedly kidnapped. She’s only been missing for less than 12 hours. That’s all I know, so please don’t ask me for more.”

Felicia replied with a “Thank you.”

Having a time and location made it a lot easier for her to work with the case.

With limited time, Felicia skimmed through the footage, speeding up the playback. The rapid visuals almost gave her a headache, but her focus paid off when she spotted a fleeting glimpse of Jennifer in one of the videos in the bottom window.
