Return Of The Prodigy -
Return of the Prodigy Chapter 126
Adam drove Gemma to the hospital after the little fiasco and unexpectedly ran into Owen in the corridor.
Owen had been poisoned at the Five-Poison Society, and Black Dragon had brought him to the hospital for treatment. Owen looked excited as he walked with confidence holding a bouquet of flowers. He was clearly on his way to profess his love to the girl of his dreams. He had recovered from the poisoning.
Adam was certain Owen liked Fannie.
Adam shook his head powerlessly. He did not go over and say hi. He did not know what to make of Owen. Although he was very green and had a questionable IQ, he was genuinely chivalrous at heart.
For what it was worth, he was kind at heart and did not think twice about helping the abductees even if he had to do it single-handedly.
Adam stood in the corridor waiting for Gemma. Sure enough, Owen opened the door and entered Joseph's hospital ward. However, he left the room awkwardly in less than two seconds.
"Fannie, I really like you," Owen said toward the room. "Please give me a chance. We were destined to meet and be together forever."
"Shut up!"
Fannie's voice could be heard coming from the hospital ward. She pulled out a dagger and pointed it at Owen forcing him out of the ward.
Fannie was dressed in something different today. Her black hair was long and straight with bangs. She was wearing a black sweater and her chest looked ample. She matched it with micro shorts and black stockings accentuating her long slender legs. She finished the outfit with a pair of low-heeled leather shoes. On the whole, she looked exquisite and cute.
"Haven't you learned anything after losing your wallet? Do you want me to cut you up?" Fannie glared at him as she spoke threateningly.
Owen kept retreating but refused to give up. "You don't like me because you don't know me. I'm from Divine Gate, so I'm a chivalrous martial artist. Last night, I wanted to save the abductees, so I entered the place alone and fought four men single-handedly..." Owen's words stopped abruptly as he was awash with embarrassment.
However, he had successfully made Fannie curious. She asked, "Where did you go? What happened? How could you stop at the exciting part?"
Owen sighed. "I feel embarrassed. Even though I was on par with them in terms of martial arts, they cunningly poisoned me and made me lose."
Fannie could not suppress her laughter. She said mockingly, "You failed. How could you have the cheek to brag about it? Didn't you get poisoned last night? How did you escape?"
A look of admiration appeared on Owen's face. He said candidly, "I failed, but I was saved by someone. He also took out all those men. He's my idol. One day, I will become a hero just like him. Fannie, you have to have faith in me. When the day comes, we can travel the world and help people in need."
Fannie pursed her lips and rejected him without a second thought. "No, thanks. Are you crazy? I want to live the high life, okay?"
Owen felt disappointed. He looked at Fannie in disbelief and said, "How could you be so materialistic?"
Fannie scoffed, "Get this straight. I'm not interested in saving the world. Get lost. I don't ever want to see you again."
Owen opened his eyes wide as he retreated three steps. He had trouble accepting this harsh reality and seemed hurt. As he turned to leave, he loosened his grip on the bouquet of flowers letting them fall to the ground. Why?
He loved her, but she refused to see the world with him. Instead, she was just as materialistic as the other women.
The divination said they were fated to meet, and she would bring him good fortune. However...
Never mind. The woman would just hold him back. Why should he give up everything for a woman like her?
It was far better to stay single!
After consoling himself, Owen walked away.
Fannie suddenly shouted, "Hang on."
Owen promptly halted and said excitedly, "Have you changed your mind about dating me?"
Fannie rolled her eyes coolly and said heartlessly, "I have some questions for you. Do you know who saved you?"
These martial artists were even more resourceful than Divine Gate, so Adam was the first person who popped into Fannie's mind. However, it was just speculation, and she needed more proof. Owen shook his head and replied stiffly, "I don't know the guy. He was wearing a mask, so I didn't get a clear look at his face."
Fannie raised her brow and asked, "How did you escape and end up in the hospital then?"
Owen said dispiritedly, "A bunch of people came to the village and saved me."
Fannie frowned. "A bunch of people? What kind of people? What were they wearing?"
Owen contemplated and said, "All of them were martial artists and they were good. They didn't look like regular folks, but they were dressed normally. Oh yes. They came with two choppers." Fannie narrowed her eyes deviously, she had an inkling about their identity.
If she was not mistaken, Black Snake Brigade must be behind it. Also, Adam was in charge of the Black Snake Brigade, so the masked man had to be Adam!
Owen did not quite understand why Fannie was asking these questions. He said quizzically, "Fannie, why are you asking so many questions? Do you know the masked man?"
Fannie nodded.
Owen's eyes lit up promptly. He was in a bad mood when Fannie rejected him, but it instantly lifted. He asked excitedly, "Who is he? Where can I find him?"
Fannie was about to speak when she noticed someone turning to leave at the end of the corridor from the corner of her eye.
Fannie promptly recognized Adam. She shouted hurriedly, "Stop right there!"
Adam was out of luck, and there was no avoiding them now.
Fannie was much smarter than Owen. Considering her intelligence, she could probably tell that Adam was the man in black last night. Other than the police force, only Black Snake Brigade was capable of using a helicopter without leaving any tracks. Fannie happened to know Adam was in charge of the Black Snake Brigade!
Fannie went up in front of Adam. She cast him a knowing look as she smiled coldly. "It was you, right? It must've been you, right?"
Owen quickly followed behind her and said in disbelief, "Him? Are you sure?"
Fannie chuckled and said, "If you want to test the theory, you just have to fight him."
Owen bowed and said solemnly, "I'm Owen Robinson from Divine Gate. I'd like to exchange some pointers with you!"
A cunning look swept across Fannie's eyes as she watched from the sidelines.
Considering Owen's martial arts, he was probably able to force Adam into using Dragon-Snake Switch. If Adam was able to execute the move, it would mean he was from the Drake family! This time, Adam had to admit the truth!
