Return Of The Prodigy
Return of the Prodigy Chapter 136

The three dazzling stars blinded the onlookers.

Is this badge real?

Is he really a general, and a three-star general on top of that?

Everyone looked at Adam in disbelief as if they were looking at an alien.

However, their shock was understandable because a three-star general in his twenties was something unheard of.

The reporters were stunned, and Silas was no exception. The man almost wet his pants from the fright. Not even the Camdens had the guts to go against a general unless they wanted to bring about their destruction.

How is this possible? I investigated Adam Drake's background, and everything seemed normal. There was nothing suspicious-looking or out of the ordinary!

Besides, if he were a general, he wouldn't stoop so low as to be the live-in son-in-law of the Hartleys, nor would he need the Hamiltons to cover for him.

Yeah, there is no other explanation... That badge must be fake!

"Heh, I have to admit that this badge is very well crafted and almost identical to a real one. I nearly got fooled. Adam Drake, you sure are bold. Even if I let go of this grudge and forgive you, the police will not. Forgery is a big deal, and you were stupid enough to impersonate a three-star general on top of that!"

Silas laughed out loud, stopping only when his abdomen started aching again.

The stunned police officers heard Silas' explanation and heaved a sigh of relief. "You're now accused of forgery as well. Take this guy away!"

"You motherfucking..." Black Dragon was about to lose his temper again.

"Black Dragon." Adam hinted at him to stop and said with a sneer, "Fine, I'll go to the police station with you guys. I want to see which one of your leaders is in cahoots with the Camdens."

Black Dragon quieted down and no longer spoke.

The police officers handcuffed Adam and Black Dragon, escorting them outside.

Silas walked up to Katie and grinned. "Do you want to ask the Hamiltons for help? I'm curious to see if they'd be willing to lend you a hand this time!

"Wait, do you even have their number? I believe I can help you with that!"

Silas dialed Chet Hamilton's number.

"Chet, it's me, Silas Camden. There was something I wanted to tell you. The police just took Adam Drake away for a drink!"

On the other end, Chet kept silent for a few seconds before answering. "It has nothing to do with us."

Then, he hung up the call.

Silas smiled smugly. It was all a tactic to see how close the relationship between Adam and the Hamiltons was. Given Chet's attitude, it seemed that the Hamiltons were willing to help Adam, but to a certain limit. With the Hamiltons out of the picture, Silas had nothing to fear.

"Did you hear? The Hamiltons don't want to help you anymore. What are you going to do now? Haha..." Silas left while snickering.

In the capital, at the Hamiltons' residence.

Chet and Andrew sat opposite each other, playing chess.

Andrew moved a piece and asked with a smile, "Do you know why I told you not to help him?"

Chet replied calmly, "I already know the answer."

Andrew nodded in satisfaction. "Let's hear it then."

Chet knew that his grandfather was testing him, so he replied, "First, if he wanted to, he could easily find a way to avoid getting dragged to the police station. Since he agreed to go there, it means he has something in mind.

"Second, the reach of his influence far outclasses the Hamiltons'. We can help him a bit when it comes to business, but this kind of matter is better left to him."

After a short pause, Chet added, "Finally, I wanted to see the Camdens bring about their own destruction."

Chet moved a piece, gobbling up one of Andrew's.

Andrew laughed and said, "Not bad, that was a good move. You must have noticed that Enrico Morales has started to take action in secret. Did you forsee his actions as well?"

Chet said humbly, "It's all thanks to you, Grandfather. You taught me well."

Andrew smiled. "Remember, don't become impatient when things go wrong, and make a move only after careful planning. I'm sure you'll surpass me in another two years. However, there's something you must always remember. You can borrow Master's influence, but you must never betray him." Chet kept silent for a few seconds and nodded solemnly.

Andrew put down the piece in his hand and grabbed a cup of coffee nearby, taking a sip. "Those old codgers are always thinking of ways to deal with me, forgetting that the youngsters are the future.

"Heh, none of their sons or grandsons are more qualified than mine. Do they think that the Hamiltons are the richest family in the capital due to sheer luck? Haha..."

-

Inside Lisle's police station.

Adam and Black Dragon were brought to different interrogation rooms.

One of the police officers asked, "What's your name?"

Adam replied, "Didn't you see it on the badge?"

The police officer pounded the desk and snarled, "Stop talking rubbish and reply to my question! Moreover, are you still trying to impersonate a general with that fake badge of yours?" Adam sneered, "Who told you that it's fake?"

"Are you still trying to argue about that? It seems you won't cooperate until you're given a lesson!"

The two police officers grinned and took out their batons.

Adam narrowed his eyes. "I advise you to stop while there's still time, or you might get hurt."

"Shut the fuck up!" The two police officers cursed and rushed up to Adam.

Soon after, a series of loud noises echoed in the interrogation room.

At the same time, a blue sports car sped toward the police station's entrance.

Silas said with a smile, "James, thank you for your help."

James Pratt held a cigarette with his right hand, exhaling a mouthful of smoke. "You're welcome. I still have some say in Lisle."

Silas said, "You're young and talented. I'm sure you'll find your way to the police department in the capital sooner or later."

At that, James lowered his head and said, "For that, I'm afraid I'll have to trouble the Camdens. If not, I might never go that far no matter how skilled I am."

James Pratt was the deputy director of Lisle's police department, and he was often at odds with the mayor, Jake Allen. For this reason, he wanted to get transferred to the police department in the capital. However, he was going to need the connections of the Camdens to achieve his objective.

"Haha, don't worry. I'll organize a dinner party and introduce you to a few big shots," promised Silas.

James nodded gratefully.

Silas glanced at the police station and asked, "Are you sure everything will be fine? That guy might be an idiot, but he's an incredible fighter."

James gave his assurance. "Fear not, I'm acquainted with the commissioner here, so there will be no problems." Silas nodded, satisfied.

James asked out of curiosity, "You said that this guy was going around with a fake badge. What was that about?"

Silas laughed and explained, "That fellow is an idiot. The problem isn't that he forged a badge, but that he chose to impersonate someone of too high a rank. Do you know who he was impersonating? A three-star general!" James was stunned. "He sure loves to brag. No way he can get that rank at his age."

Silas agreed, "Yeah, it's no wonder that people call him a madman around here."

While they were discussing, several Growlers sped over. As the vehicles stopped, the soldiers on board jumped down and rushed into the police station.

Silas and James were dumbfounded. Before they could say anything, a heavily armored car rushed over.

Then, the governor of the county also rushed to the police station.

Silas and James had a bad feeling. They felt anxious for some reason.

At this time, another vehicle came over, and Jake Allen alighted from it.

Silas blinked his eyes in confusion.

What the fuck is happening?

James frowned and said, "I feel like things might not be as simple as they seem. Wait here, I'll go inside and take a look."

Silas nodded and said, "Yes, hurry!"

In the next moment, a shocking thought flashed through Silas' mind.

Don't tell me that the badge is real...
