Return Of The Prodigy -
Return of the Prodigy Chapter 139
Black Dragon pulled out his gun and pointed it at Priscilla the moment she challenged him.
"Do you know who you're talking to?"
In an instant, the atmosphere in the hall felt murderous. Priscilla narrowed her eyes coldly as she leveled her gaze at Black Dragon, while he kept his gun trained on her. Neither was willing to back down or show the slightest weakness. However, Adam interrupted the stalemate. "Black Dragon, step back."
Black Dragon sneered coldly before pulling back his gun and stepping back.
Adam then looked at Priscilla and said mildly, "Reverse psychology doesn't work on me. You're no match for me."
"We haven't even fought yet. How could you be so sure?" Priscilla said stubbornly.
Adam did not bother explaining and simply said, "What's it going to take to stop this farce?"
"I will only give up when I find the Drake family," Priscilla answered coolly.
He was right before her, but she was oblivious to it.
Adam sighed inwardly and asked quizzically, "Why do you insist on finding them?"
Does the Lotus Sect have anything to do with the Drake family's massacre six years ago?
Adam looked at Priscilla and studied her expression in an attempt to discern something from her reaction.
"I just need to resolve something," she said expressionlessly.
Adam paused briefly and frowned in puzzlement. What do you need to resolve with me? Unfortunately, he could not say this out loud.
He turned to look at Owen. "Do you want to find the Drake family as well?"
Owen scoffed and in disdain, "I don't care about the family. I just want to find the person who saved me. I want to become his disciple."
Adam was irritated. Don't you have anything better to do?
"I told you, he saved you... but you refuse to believe me, you dumbass," Fannie said in exasperation.
Owen promptly asked, "Was it really you?"
Yes, it was me!
Initially, Adam did not mind telling Owen the truth so that the guy would stop pestering him. However, after Owen had declared he wanted to become his disciple, he changed his mind. He had no interest in accepting stupid disciples. Adam did not answer Owen and turned to look at the other girl instead. "What's your name? I owe you a favor now."
If the young woman had not saved the young man at Phoenix Mountain, Hartley Group would never have managed to obtain footage of Carl Mann's murder.
The young woman looked at Adam curiously before saying crisply, "My name is Arianna Medici. I'm looking for someone."
Arianna Medici?
Adam raised his brow. An image of a young girl following behind him asking for candy came to mind.
Is it her? She's all grown up now. Adam sighed nostalgically to himself before snapping out of his momentary daze. He said, "If you don't do as I say, then you have to leave town." Priscilla raised her brow yet again.
"What do you suggest then?" Fannie was quick to ask.
"Since you refuse to call off the fight, let's follow the rules and hold a professional match," Adam said. "Let people sign up for the match and win through elimination. It has to be absolutely professional. If we want to hold a match, we have to ensure everyone knows about it. That way, it'll be far easier to find whoever you are looking for."
Fannie's eyes instantly lit up since it sounded fun. "Okay then, I just want the gambling rights for taking bets."
Owen contemplated and nodded in agreement. "I don't mind."
Arianna pondered briefly too before saying softly, "I don't mind either."
Adam now turned to Priscilla.
Priscilla frowned slightly and replied in a cool tone, "Why do I have to do as you say?"
"Don't you want me to fight? If you come out a champion, I'll agree to your request and fight you," Adam said.
Priscilla glanced at Adam coldly. Her gaze was undoubtedly saying he was overestimating himself.
"I don't care if you fight me, I just want to find the Drake family."
She still keeps insisting on finding my family!
Adam did not know how to get her to change her mind. If the match went smoothly, people involved in the family massacre would show up. The moment they showed their faces, he would settle scores with them. He did not care if people found out he was a Drake as it was just a matter of time before they did.
"Okay. I promise to help you find them after the match is over," Adam replied.
Priscilla, Fannie, and Arianna's eyes lit up in anticipation the moment Adam's words fell.
"Deal!" acknowledged Priscilla with a nod.
Adam continued, "Since we have come to an agreement, I will make the arrangements. Fannie's in charge of taking down all the participants' information. Considering the number of members you have, I'm sure you can handle the task, right?" Fannie agreed without a second thought. "Sure. Just make sure I get the gambling rights."
Adam did not care about the gambling rights for the match. He simply continued, "Owen will be in charge of security during the match since he is an honest young man." Owen instantly raised his chin proudly. "Anything you need. Anyone who dares to flout the rules we'll get a taste of my blade."
When are you going to wake up?
Adam at a loss for words. He turned to say to Arianna, "As for you, you are a brilliant doctor, so I want you to put together a medical team for the match. Is that okay?" Arianna nodded gently.
Adam finally looked at Priscilla. "You're in charge of looking after the fights. This is the most important task we have."
"Don't forget what you promised me!" Priscilla said with a deadpan face.
Priscilla, I also promise that you won't be this cool after discovering my true identity, Adam thought to himself.
"Black Dragon will help you handle the rest. Tell those people to leave. I have somewhere to go. Oh yes, Hartley Group will be the designated sponsor for the match." Fannie glared at him. "Well done! Did you do all this so that your wife's company can get publicity? You are shameless!"
Adam could not be bothered explaining himself and simply left.
Before long, Priscilla went in to announce the match was over and asked the crowd to disperse. The people were caught by surprise and were instantly annoyed.
"It must be that guy. He must have won and stolen our goddess. If I knew this would happen, I would've stopped him at all costs."
"You make it sound as though you can stop him."
Adam was taking a cab back to the Hartley Group when his phone suddenly rang. The moment he answered, Katie's anxious voice sounded.
"Adam, Sofia is reaching soon, but I'm busy. Can you pick her up from the train station?"
Adam promptly recalled the young woman. She had remarked he was a bad match for Katie. However, she was close friends with Katie and wished her well, so she was not half bad. "Sure. Send me her number," said Adam.
He hung up and told the cab driver to take him to the train station.
