Chapter 19 You're our precious daughter

Sophia's phone rang, it was her mother. She picked up the phone and said, "Mom."

Laura was a straightforward person. As soon as Sophia answered the phone, she said angrily, "The Riley family is disgusting. How could they slander you like that? Do they have a death wish?" Warmth flooded in Sophia's heart. "Mom, do you believe in me?"

"You are my daughter, of course I believe in you."

"But aren't you afraid those rumors might be true?"

"They can't be." Laura didn't even think about it and believed her. "You are my child. I know you better than anyone."

Sophia was relieved. She had been worried that her family might not believe her.

After all, she had been in a relationship with Drake for three years ago and it was pretty normal that they might have had sex already since they were already grownups when they started dating. But the fact was that they hadn't.

"Thank you, Mom!" Sophia said heartily.

"The Riley family has gone too far this time. Sophia, do you need my help?"

"No!" Sophia hurriedly said, "Mom, just watch how I'm going to win the fight."

Laura felt sorry for her. "Your father saw the news and was pissed. He said he would kill the Rileys. Sophia, you are our precious daughter, how can we just stand by and watch?"

The Riley family had humiliated Sophia before, and now they were slandering her.

"Mom, believe me, let me deal with it. If I can't handle it, I will ask you for help, okay?" Laura finally said, "Fine."

The two chatted for a while before they hung up.

Someone reported to Drake that Sophia was here, which surprised Drake.

Sophia would come to him? That was new. He calmly asked to confirm, "She's here?"

Paul said respectfully, "Yes, she's here."

"Let her in!"

"Yes, sir!"

Paul then walked out of the office.

Drake straightened his clothes and looked at himself in the mirror to make sure that he looked fine.

Before long, Sophia stepped into the office in high heels, following Paul.

Paul knew they needed to talk alone, so he walked out and closed the door for them.

Drake sat there, glanced at her, and said, "Miss Lawson, what brings you here?"

Sophia walked up to him and threw the document at him, looking at him in contempt.

"Listen, I will give you some time to clarify the rumors, or I will sue the Old Riley for slandering. He'd better behave himself if he wanna live out his days peacefully."

Drake had read the news, and he was very dissatisfied with what the Old Riley had done. He was going to talk to the Old Riley when Sophia came.

"You'd better take my words seriously. If the Riley family keeps playing such dirty tricks, I will not let you go."

Turning around, she was about to leave.

"Sophia!"

Drake stopped her.

Sophia turned her head, "Mr. Riley, is there anything else?"

They locked eyes.

"Is this what you came for?"

Sophia sneered. "What else do you want to hear from me? In your eyes, I'm a whore pregnant with other men's child and even have an abortion. You wanna sleep with me, huh?"

Since her return, everyone around Drake had been telling him that Sophia was a woman willing to sleep with any man for money. He didn't buy a word of it, not to mention the rumors this time! If she was that kind of woman, she would not have rejected him again and again!

His gentle voice reminded Sophia of the time they were together.

Instantly, Sophia realized that they couldn't go back to the old days anymore. 'Sophia, wake up!'

"I want to apologize to you on behalf of my grandpa."

Sophia looked at him in disbelief. "You believe me?"

When Drake was about to say something, Sophia said sarcastically, "You don't need to do this. If the Old Riley couldn't clarify the rumors and apologize in front of everyone, I won't let it go." She walked out in her high heels.

Drake frowned, reading the document.

Drake returned with a long face, his eye filled with anger.

The Old Riley looked at him, "You are supposed to be at work now. Why are you home?"

"Why am I home? Grandpa, shouldn't you know the answer?"

He questioned the Old Riley.

The Old Riley was unhappy to hear his words. "What do you mean? Are you home for the news?"

"Grandpa, you have gone too far this time!" Drake knew that one had to be decisive cruel when facing his rivals in business, but the Old Riley was now using such dirty tricks to deal with a weak woman like Sophia. He couldn't stand it anymore.

"Gone too far?" the Old Riley asked, "You think the news are fake?"

"Grandpa, you know the truth."

The Old Riley could not believe it. "Drake, I am your grandfather but you chose to believe that bitch?"

Drake frowned, "Grandpa, I don't want you to say that about her."

"What? She left you once for money and we showed you the video of her being with another man. In these three years, we have been hoping you to marry someone who's worthy of you, but you kept refusing. And now, are you telling me you still love her?"

"Grandpa, you told me she left me for the money. I didn't see her being with other men with my own eyes! As to the video, I don't think it proves anything."
