Richest Mogul -
Chapter 1370
Half an hour later, Stephen stood outside the hospital, trying to reach Simona on the phone. He had missed her call earlier, and now he needed to explain.
"I ran into an elderly woman on my way. She was feeling a bit unwell, so I took her to the hospital and didn't have time to answer your call. Are you upset? I'll come back and make it up to you." Stephen joked, trying to lighten the mood while hailing a cab on the side of the road.
Simona's expression softened at his words. She had been a little mad, but now she felt her irritation melt away. "Oh, I see. I was a bit upset earlier, but now I forgive you. You did a good deed, so as your girlfriend, I also get to bask in your glory."
"Who doesn't know that you're my girl at school? I'll work hard to make you proud," Stephen teased, effortlessly winning her over with his charm.
He completely understood Simona's sweet, innocent mindset. "I believe that day will come," Simona replied, her heart fluttering with happiness at his words. After hanging up, Stephen's smile vanished almost instantly. He glanced at a new contact he had just added on WhatsApp and couldn't help but smile again.
He couldn't deny it. Rosa, whom he had encountered earlier, seemed easier to manipulate.
The designer clothes and the expensive bag she carried were worth several hundred thousand dollars combined.
She looked vulnerable and in need of help, making it the perfect opportunity to achieve his goals.
Stephen had a good habit of never limiting himself to a single option. He preferred to prepare multiple paths for himself. When it came time to make a choice, he would always select the best one.
He would never allow himself to have only one option to choose from. It wasn't that Simona wasn't good enough. It was just that she had a brother who could easily become an obstacle.
With those thoughts in mind, he sent Rosa a message. "Take care and rest well. Listen to your doctors, and if you need any help, feel free to reach out."
...
Skylar pushed her suitcase into Galaxy Villa. The atmosphere was dim inside, so Skylar flipped the lights on.
Edgar had informed her that Joe had been staying there for the past couple of days, coming and going at all hours while staying busy with various matters.
In Jipsburg, most people were unaware that Joe had returned. Consequently, there weren't any news stories targeting him.
He hadn't come back yet at this hour.
Skylar had initially planned to invite Gloria to stay with her at the Galaxy Villa, but Gloria insisted on returning to Pearlhall Residence. She playfully remarked that she didn't want to be a third wheel. Sometimes, Gloria's personality resembled that of a child. Skylar couldn't help but chuckle.
As she unpacked her suitcase and prepared to cook some pasta, she heard some noises.
She immediately poked her head out from the kitchen to see what was happening at the door. Just then, her gaze locked with Joe's.
Skylar froze. Joe had clearly anticipated that Skylar would be there. "You... You're back? I'm cooking some pasta. Have you eaten dinner yet? Would you like me to make you a plate too?" Skylar asked hesitantly. After speaking, she felt a wave of nostalgia wash over her. She remembered how they had been just like this when they got their marriage certificate a few years ago.
Joe looked at her intently and replied, "Sure."
Within ten minutes, Skylar had the pasta ready.
It was a simple dish-Pasta Primavera.
Edgar had prepared the pasta and stored it in the fridge, so all she needed to do was boil it and add some sauteed vegetables.
She quickly whipped up a basic tomato sauce and a refreshing side salad, which perfectly complemented the pasta.
Joe had not been eating regularly since arriving in Jipsburg. He often grabbed quick bites at various restaurants.
