Richest Mogul -
Chapter 1397
Later, for reasons unknown, Kevin and Viola had a massive argument. After that, Kevin left Jipsburg and disappeared entirely. He never showed up again in any of their circles of friends. Initially, people speculated about what could have caused the fallout between Kevin and Viola. However, over time, everyone forgot about him.
Even when news broke a few years ago that Viola's younger brother was the mastermind behind the spread of cursed artifacts, no one connected it to Kevin.
If Gloria hadn't seen him in person today, she wouldn't have remembered him either.
"When you left Jipsburg back then, we were still friends. Why have you been hurting everyone these past few years?
"Do you know how many people have suffered accidents from the cursed artifacts you deliberately sent out? Some even lost their lives!" Gloria couldn't suppress her anger and confronted him directly. Thinking back, their interactions with Kevin had been pleasant, without any significant issues.
At that time, Kevin was already quite successful in his career. Under such circumstances, what resentment could he harbor that would drive him to harm his old friends decades later, even stirring up chaos across Jipsburg? Kevin remained smiling throughout her accusations, showing no trace of guilt or remorse.
"Friends? Did you really consider me a friend? At our age, there's no need to keep secrets.
"When you found out I liked Viola, you thought I wasn't worthy of her. I subtly asked you once-if I were Viola's brother, would you give us your blessing?
"But what did you say? You said Viola didn't like me. And besides, if I were her brother, she would never have feelings for me in this lifetime." As Kevin spoke, his eyes burned with hatred.
Even after so many years, every detail of those events was etched in his memory. The bitterness in his heart had not diminished in the slightest. Gloria was taken aback by his words. "Did you ask us back then?"
She had no recollection of such a conversation. Perhaps it had been too long ago, and any offhand remarks would have long since been forgotten.
But now, Kevin's words revealed that he had clung to these memories for decades.
If such casual words from the past had truly sparked the series of tragedies in recent years, wasn't Kevin's reaction too over?
Seeing that Gloria appeared to have forgotten everything, Kevin squinted his eyes and let out a cold laugh.
"Back then, every one of you relied on your powerful families, acting high and mighty. You pretended to be friends with me on the surface, but in reality, you looked down on me. "The only thing that mattered was benefits.
"Viola could bring you more benefits, so you valued her more. All of you claimed to be her friends, but none of you could stand to see her happy!
"Those men who pursued her-each one more frivolous than the last-only wanted to gain something from her. Who among them could compare to my true feelings for her?" Even after decades, notions like sibling relationships or societal norms held no weight compared to his feelings in Kevin's mind.
The fact that his feelings went unreciprocated only fueled his resentment.
After Kevin finished speaking, Edgar and Veronica's expressions shifted dramatically. They regretted their initial impressions of him.
Now, his face was twisted with malice, and his demeanor radiated a sense of unsettling madness. It made him look deeply disturbed and frightening.
Gloria drew in a sharp breath. "This is all in your head! We never thought that way. Besides, you were siblings. You know what your true relationship with Viola was.
"Even if we did say at the time that you and Viola were impossible, it was because Viola herself had no feelings for you. She only saw you as a brother." "Bullshit!" Kevin roared.
Gloria's face darkened. "You caused so much harm to so many people over something like this. Aren't you being too selfish? Why did you only remember the one thing that you didn't like and forget about all the good things we did for you?" "Were you good to me? Your pity was nothing but a way to make yourselves feel superior, treating me like some beggar to feed your sense of self-importance! Why should I be grateful for that?
"If you truly cared, why didn't you support me and Viola? All of you are just hypocrites!" Kevin lashed out.
