Salute To The General -
Chapter 3270 Winter Was Coming
As expected, after Penny heard him, a trace of unresolved worry appeared in her eyes. She gently reminded him, "Promise me to take good care of yourself and make sure to come back alive. Our second child is waiting to see you when you return.' Nathan solemnly said, "Sure. I promise you."
Penny continued, "You don't have to worry about me. My parents are taking care of me, as well as Kylie and Ava. The only thing you need to do is to come back safe and sound. That's all that matters." Nathan nodded. "Okay."
At this moment, a grimace suddenly appeared on Penny's face. He saw Leah on the screen and exclaimed, "Her water broke. The baby is coming! Kylie, hurry up and call the doctor!"
Worry was written all over Nathan's face, but he could do nothing to help. Fortunately, a middle-aged female doctor, accompanied by several nurses, hurriedly rushed over. Then, Penny was taken to the delivery room. Although Penny had entered the delivery room, she still held her phone.
Lying on the delivery bed with a pained expression, she forced herself to say a few more words to Nathan during the video call. However, for some unknown reason, the screen suddenly froze. Nathan was stunned and quickly shouted, "Hello? Hello? Honey, can you hear me?"
However, the screen suddenly froze and prompted an interrupted connection.
Nathan was taken aback and realized there was no signal on his phone. What's going on?
Nathan's phone was military-grade which commanders usually used. No matter whether in the desolate desert or a remote mountain village, military satellite signals could be received. Theoretically, as long as any special equipment did not block the signal, it was impossible to have no signal.
"Colin, Colin," Nathan shouted, facing outside.
Colin hurriedly entered and asked, "Mr. Cross, what can I help you with?" Nathan frowned and said, "Why is there no signal on my phone? What's going on?" Upon hearing this, Colin was completely baffled. Just then, someone from Elite Eight hurriedly over and said in a panic, "Mr. Cross, something terrible has happened."
Nathan asked, "What's the matter?"
The man from Elite Eight anxiously said, "I think you should come out and see it for yourself!"
Upon hearing this, Nathan furrowed his brows before following him out with Colin. After arriving at the courtyard, he saw many people leave their houses, pointing at the sky and gasping occasionally. Nathan and Colin looked up at the sky. Their faces were instantly filled with immense shock. A peculiar scene unfolded in the sunset sky. The sky was unexpectedly half blue and half black.
Besides, the black area kept expanding at a visible pace, covering up the sky. The sky turned utterly black shortly after, and the world was shrouded in darkness. The illuminated places were not affected, but in areas without light, it was pitch black that one couldn't see their own hand in front of them.
Colin was also shocked, held up his phone's flashlight for illumination, and muttered to himself, "What's going on? The sky is completely dark without a single trace of natural light. It has never been this dark even at night!"
At this moment, Nathan came to his senses and said seriously, "I wonder if the loss of signal has anything to do with this strange phenomenon."
Upon hearing this, Colin and the others hurriedly checked their phones, only to find none had any signal. Colin exclaimed, "It's the dark canopy they mentioned before! It must be the vampires who have slaughtered millions of humans to perform the ancient sacrificial ritual and summon the dark canopy. Now, the Earth has plunged into eternal darkness." Upon hearing this, the crowd began to panic one by one, tremblingly saying, "It's really the legendary dark canopy. There's no light. Now even our signals are blocked. It's over. The end of the world has come." Nathan shouted, "Everyone, calm down! The sky is just getting dark. Why the need to panic? Upon hearing this, everyone slightly calmed down. Nathan's expression was solemn.
Dark canopy is really happening, and the Earth is plunged into eternal darkness. Even satellite signals are blocked. I bet many of humanity's advanced technologies would cease to function.
Moreover, many were already panicking as soon as darkness began to fall. The upcoming challenges were likely to be even tougher. Eternal darkness and winter was coming.
