Shadows Of A Forgotten Spring -
Billionaire Shadow 143
Chapter 143
Alexander woke up later that day, disoriented at first, but he later figured out where he was.
Pain radiated from his upper right abdomen as he tried to sit up sharp enough to force a low groan from his throat. He clenched his jaw, willing himself to push past it, but the effort was futile.
"No. Babe. No. Annie said, rushing over to him with a fake worried expression. "You can't just get out of bed now. You need to rest."
He turned his head toward the door as if expecting someone to walk in with news. The urgency in his chest outweighed the physical pain. He needed to know. Was Emma okay? Was she responding well in the operating room? He had given a part of himself for her-quite literally-and he needed reassurance that it hadn't been in vain.
"Listen to her, brother," Vivian said, stepping forward and gently grabbing his wrist. Her voice was soft but firm, carrying both authority and affection. She had arrived at the hospital after Alexander's surgery and had been quietly watching over him ever since. Now, seeing him awake, her pride swelled beyond control.
"For once, let me take care of things," she continued, her lips curving into a faint smile. "You've done your part."
For the first time, Alexander had shown selflessness, placing someone else's life above his own. She'd known he had it in him, though she'd been too blinded by her anger in the past to see it clearly. Now, she understood-he truly loved Emma. The signs had been there all along, but her resentment had made her ignore them.
"How is she doing?" Alexander asked, turning his gaze on Kevin, who had been standing a bit away from his bed. Every single word was forced out of his mouth. His body hurts more than he had expected, but if it eventually pays off at the end, it was worth it. Kevin straightened, his expression professional but tinged with empathy. "Everything is going as planned, sir," he said. "She's doing fine. The operation is progressing smoothly, but it won't be finished for another six hours. You need to focus on your recovery, sir. She wouldn't want you exhausting yourself like this
Alexander sighed softly, lying more comfortably on the bed now. Kevin's words have put his mind back at rest. It was true he needed to rest. For the first time, he allowed himself a moment of peace. His mind drifted to the twins-his twins. The thought filled him with a sense of pride and joy he hadn't felt before. They weren't just two children he'd admired from afar -they were his flesh and blood. He couldn't wait to hold them again, to be the father they deserved.
Slowly, his vision began to blur again, and he fell asleep.
AAAAA
Six hours later, Emma's still unconscious body was pulled out of the operating room. The operation was a success, but she still needed a couple of hours before she could wake up.
Annie stood in the hallway, her arms crossed tightly against her chest, her nails digging into her palms. Her expression was unreadable, her eyes fixed on Emma's bed as it was pushed past. But inside, her heart seethed with bitterness, a storm of resentment and fury brewing within her.
She watched as everyone, even Vivian, who had always been against Emma, ran after Emma's bed, and she could hardly hold her anger in.
Her mind churned with hatred. How could this happen? How could Emma worm her way i she had stolen everything Annie once held dear, and she wasn't going to stand for it.
into everyone's hearts? It was as if
Her next plan was already in place; all she needed was the time to carry it out and an empty hallway. Alexander might have found out about his bastards, but she wouldn't let him slip out of her hands. NOT AGAIN!

Chapter 143
During the dusk, when the hallway was finally empty and Emma was all alone in her VIP room. Still unconscious and connected to wires. Annie saw that moment as the golden opportunity that she had been looking for.
Derek might not have had the opportunity to finish Emma off, and that was why she was here. She couldn't afford Emma walking out of the hospital with her own two legs.
She would rather go to jail and spend the rest of her life there than allow such.
She looked left and right, taking a deep breath and stepping inside her.
Her feelings were dead, replaced with a heart as hard as rock. She walked up to Emma as fast as she could, trying to make the whole thing as swift as possible. And with one fast movement, she turned off the machine.
ОХУБЕН
A devilish smile appeared on her face as Emma began to gasp, her lips turning blue and her face turning pale. A devilish smile appeared on her face as Emma began
A pleasure unlike any other filled her up from within, and she licked her bottom lip in success, but just as she was about to turn around and leave the room, the door opened, and Vivian stepped inside and immediately noticed what was going on. Vivian's eyes widened in fear and shock, and she rushed up to Emma, wondering what was going on, and then she noticed it, the oxygen machine being switched off.
Vivian immediately turned it on, and within seconds, Emma was back to life.
Annie was in shock and fear as she watched the whole thing. Where had Vivian shown up from all of a sudden?
She nervously scratched her neck and tried to come up with a lie. "I was on my way to call the doctor to come and see was wrong with her."
what
Vivian sighed heavily, her eyes cold and posture rigid. It was obvious that she knew what was going on. "And you expect me to believe that?"
"I..."
Vivian cut her off, her breath inches away from Annie's face. "So this is the real you. How could you stoop as low as killing someone, most especially someone you once called a friend?
"I don't know what you're talking about." Annie lied, her face now turning cold. She was trying to match Vivian's coldness. "Now, I see why you're so hard to like." Vivian added. "Now, I see why my mother will never allow you into our family. You're an animal, Annie. My brother tried to save Emma. He risked his life, donated his liver, and you dare to kill her!" Vivian's voice was higher and harsher now. "How do you think he will feel when he finds out what a horrible person you are!"
Annie's teared up. "I do not know what I was thinking. I was just jealous. It was an irrational act. I'm sorry."
"Save your sorry for a joker; I'm not buying your shit. On a normal day, I would have told my brother, but for the sake of my nephew, I won't, but I will be watching you. I wouldn't forgive you next time. Now out!" Without waiting for another second, Annie rushed out of the room, her chest heaving with anger and fear.
She has been caught red-handed. Her plan has been ruined.
