Sophia’s Revenge – Chapter 42

Kane’s POV

Last night with Sophia was nothing short of amazing and then when I joined her in the shower and she marked me, it was euphoric. River had never been so happy. That hole in my heart from my parent’s death is slowly getting better because of her.

I left her to go to training, but I didn’t want to. I wanted to stay in bed with her all day, but she was right I had work to do.

She said she was going to talk with Xander, but I knew she was going to mark him as well. I can say this for sure, that little she wolf of ours has us wrapped around her little finger and we wouldn’t change it for the world.

I was just getting our group of warriors through their warmups, and we were starting sparring. Luke and I were showing them what we wanted them to do, when River started pacing.

“River, chill out. You’re distracting me.”

“Sorry, I feel weird. I think something is wrong with mate.”

“She is with Xander if something was wrong, he would tell us.”

“Ok I will try but I think we should go check.”

I got back to work with Luke. He did look a little rough this morning from protecting Sophia last night when her heat hit. I will have to thank him later.

After showing everyone what we wanted them to do they broke out in pairs and mimicked us. We walked around correcting them.

River was up again pacing. “Somethings wrong I can feel her distress. Go find mate.”

“I told you she is with Xander she is fine.”

“Kane, you need to go to Xanders office. Sophia walked in on him mating Clarissa and he pushed her out of his office. Alpha Ty is there now, and I have Sophia taking her to her room,” Luna Caroline mink linked me.

“Luke I have to go, emergency in the Alphas office.” I said.

“Is everything ok?”

I didn’t answer, I just ran to his office as fast as I could. I am going to kill the fucker.

When I got there Xander was on the floor still and had his pants around his knees. I didn’t care, I jumped on him and broke his nose and split his l*p.

“You disgust me, I can’t believe you would hurt her like that. You are a useless Alpha and I wish she could reject you, but it would kill her and so would me killing you because that’s what I want to do right now.” I spat at him with as much hate in my voice as I could.

I turned and left not wanting to hear anymore. I ran straight to Sophia’s room. She had to be a wreck. When I got to her door Luna Caroline was standing there and you could tell she was crying.

“Kane, how could he do this. I raised him better. I know this is a weird situation but you have both handled it so well or so I thought. What is wrong with him? That poor girl has been through so much and deserves better. Kane, please go love her and make her feel better and I’m going to kill my son!”

She didn’t even let me respond. She just turned and left. I didn’t even knock; I knew she wouldn’t answer me. When I got into her room, I didn’t see her anywhere.

“Dude, anytime she is scared or upset she is in the closet.”

“Thanks River.”

I opened the closet door and found her crumpled over. She looked like she was sleeping but something was wrong.

I ran over to her, and you could see how red her face was from crying so hard. I bent down and gently shook her “Sophia, wake up. It’s going to be ok but let’s get you out of here.” I said.

She didn’t even move. I tried again just a little more forcefully. Still nothing. I went to the bathroom to get some water to splash on her face to see if that would wake her up.

I was wetting a rag in the bathroom when I turned to leave, I saw an empty bottle of something and a note laying on the floor. I bent down and picked it up and read the note.

Sophia,

He wasn’t yours to begin with. He had a mate before you and she wants him back. We’ve decided that since he can have two mates it will be her and I. The thing is he never wanted you. If you don’t believe me, let me tell you about the night you were brought here. He left you at the hospital to be with me. His hard d**k in me, making me scream. Don’t believe me? How long did it take for him to come to you? He really didn’t did he? He was forced into this because of the stupid mate bond but he doesn’t want you. He thinks everything that’s been done to you is disgusting. How could someone be so slutty to let different men have her body and let them mutilate her for pleasure. A slutty pack slave that’s who. Someone who was just sleeping around to gain rank. You’re a disgusting whore.

Do us a favor and drink this and end your suffering because the pain you felt today will be back and I will make sure that we are not interrupted this time.

s**t, this is so bad. I don’t know what is in that bottle. I ran and scooped up a lifeless Sophia and rushed to the pack hospital. I mind linked doc to meet me there.

I was met at the door with a gurney and doc. I laid her down and handed him the bottle. He opened it and smelled it.

“Do you know how long ago she took it?”

“No, what’s in there.”

“I think it’s a mixture of wolfsbane and liquid silver. I need to get her back and get to work before it reaches her heart.”

He rushed with the gurney and Sophia left me again. I couldn’t keep doing this. I can’t lose her.

“River, can she survive this?”

“I don’t know. But let’s go pay our little Alpha a visit. My claws are dying to dig into his skin.”

I took off down the hall and mind linked Luna Caroline, “where is Xander?”

“Room 301.” She replied back.

“Why is he in the hospital?”

“Doc believes he has been poisoned and that is why he did what he did.”

“River, what the f**k is going on?”

“I don’t know but I want to kill him slightly less but still want to kill him.”

I ran up to his room and when I went in, he was sound asleep on the bed and his parents were in the chairs just waiting for him to wake up.

“Kane, how is Sophia?” Asked Luna Caroline.

“She is currently fighting for her life in the ER.” I pulled the note out of my pocket and handed it to Alpha Ty.

I couldn’t do it anymore. I couldn’t be strong. I feel to my knees completely breaking. I just sat there sobbing as Luna Caroline came over and pulled me up and gave me the motherly hug I needed.

“She is strong. She will be ok, and we will find out how they did this and we will kill them. Nobody hurts my family like this.” She said.

When Luna Caroline is mad, she is a forced and I wouldn’t want to be in her way.

I went and sat in the other chair as Luna Caroline read the letter. She was fuming. I could see her wolf coming forward. She dropped the letter and stormed out of the room.

“I can’t sit here either. I’m going to see if there is an update on Sophia.” I said as I stormed out of the room.

I walked back down to the ER and waited for Doc to come out. I had to find out who was behind this. I know Clarissa was still helping and why we didn’t kill her to begin with is still beyond me. She should have died a long time ago but for whatever reason Xander kept her around and now look she has done.
