Sophia’s Revenge – Chapter 43

Xander’s POV

“Jax, you there? Goddess my head hurts!”

“Ya but weren’t not talking.”

“What why? Why are we in a hospital bed?”

“Do you not remember yesterday?”

“I remember leaving Sophia’s room and being so happy about marking her and we were mad that we couldn’t stay but had work to do and we were going to meet her and Kane for training, but the rest is kind of fuzzy.”

“Think real hard a*****e!”

I didn’t reply to him because I really couldn’t remember what happened. I got up and was going to find Kane and Sophia. I found it odd that they weren’t here.

I slipped out into the hallway and here came my mom who looked like she hasn’t slept in ages.

“Mom, what’s wrong?”

“Everything! Sophia is not doing good, Kane is a wreck, and your dad is trying to find Clarissa and isn’t having any luck. I am glad to see you awake.”

“Why is Sophia not doing good and why is dad looking for Clarissa?”

Oh, goddess what did I do! It hit me like a ton of bricks. Everything from yesterday. Clarissa showing up, when she should be in the cells. Throwing something on my face. Sleeping with her. Oh, goddess Sophia walked in on us, and I pushed her out and slammed the door in her face.

“Mom, where is she?”

“Room 202. Just be warned that Kane is there and he ready to murder you and I’m still deciding if I should let him or not.”

“That’s what I deserve. I don’t deserve her.” I said as I started to cry. How could I do that to her?

“Son, we know that you were drugged but there’s more to it than that. You need to go see Sophia and Kane.”

I took the stairs two at a time and when I arrived at her door I stopped because it sounded like Kane was crying. I just sat there and listened to him.

“Sophia baby girl, you have to wake up. You have to be ok. I can’t live without you. If you wake up, I will take you away from here, anywhere you want to go. Just you and me. Please moon goddess let her be ok.”

I don’t know what happened, but I knew it was my fault. I slumped to the floor and just cried. Sophia was in the room fighting for her life. I have turned into a worthless mate. I should be the one protecting her, not hurting her. How could I allow this to happen?

“Jax, do you know what happened?”

“To Sophia, no I don’t but I know that you’re an a*****e who I am done talking with. You’re an Alpha, you should have been able to fight this, and we broke the most important thing and the hardest to earn back. Trust. We broke her trust.”

“I know that and wait you didn’t help me fight it so your just as much at fault.” I yelled back at him.

“I know that and trust me I hate myself for it. So, you’re not an a*****e but we are.”

I got up and went into Sophia’s room to face the music. Kane was sitting in a chair with his head on Sophia’s bed and was holding her hand and was still crying.

I cleared my throat to get his attention. He quickly looked up and the second he realized it was me his eyes went instantly black. River was pushing forward, and he was going to kill me, and I would let him.

“You have no business being here. Get the f**k out of here.” He yelled at me.

“You can’t say anything to me that I don’t already feel about myself. She is my mate also. Tell me what happened?”

“You happened. You did this. If it wasn’t for your f*****g slut that you couldn’t get rid of, we wouldn’t be here. If you would have done your job like you should have and killed her we wouldn’t be here right now.”

“She drugged me yesterday. I had no control, and I know I should have killed her and I don’t know why I didn’t. I have no excuse for that.”

“Did she drug you the night we brought Sophia here and you f****d her?”

“How did you know about that?”

He got up and came around to me. He got right in my face.

“If she dies, I will Kill you and not think twice.” He shoved something at me and went back to his chair.

“Get the f**k out of here!” He roared at me.

I took the letter and left the room. As much as I didn’t want to leave her, I knew that I had no business there right now.

I headed back to the pack house and to my office.

My office was a mess but I’m guessing that is from yesterday. I will clean it later. I sat down to read the letter Kane handed me.

Sophia,

He wasn’t yours to begin with. He had a mate before you and she wants him back. We’ve decided that since he can have two mates it will be her and I. The thing is he never wanted you. If you don’t believe me, let me tell you about the night you were brought here. He left you at the hospital to be with me. He had his hard d**k in me, making me scream. Don’t believe me? How long did it take for him to come to you? He really didn’t did he. He was forced into this because of the stupid mate bond but he doesn’t want you. He thinks everything that’s been done to you is disgusting. How could someone be so slutty to let different men have her body and let them mutilate her for pleasure. A slutty pack slave that’s who. Someone who was just sleeping around to gain rank. You’re a disgusting whore.

Do us a favor and drink this and end your suffering because the pain you felt today will be back and I will make sure that we’re not interrupted this time.

Oh, goddess what have I done. How did she get out and how did Jules get ahold of her?

“Jax, we need to find them so we can kill them.”

“Ya 10 steps ahead of you.”

“What do you have?”

“Well nothing, but I decided that the moment Clarissa came to our office.”

“Dad, can you meet me in my office?”

“Yes, we need to talk.”

My dad walked in a few minutes later with Clark and Luke. I really didn’t want them here for this, but I wasn’t in a position to say much right now.

“Son, I’m glad you’re ok but your actions with Clarissa have led to this. I know Jules is a different story, but we don’t even know where to start. We have no clues.”

“I know dad and I can’t say I’m sorry enough. We have to find them.”

“Can I see the letter Xander?” asked Clark.

I handed it to him, and he read the letter and then smelled it. I am so curious as to why he smelled it. That is weird.

“Why are you smelling it?”

“Boy, don’t question me. I have been around for a very long time. I have worked with many different packs, and I have worked with a lot of witches. This letter had magical powers in it. These two girls have the help of a witch.”

“What a witch? I thought there was some law against that?”

“There is but as time has gone on, they started working together again.” Clark said.

“That would explain how I was drugged yesterday. What can we do to find them?”

“I have a friend who might help but we are going to have to offer her the upmost privacy and security. She doesn’t trust wolves and isn’t fond of them, but she will want to meet Sophia just because she is an emerald wolf.”

“Please get her here. We will do whatever it takes.” My dad said.

“I have to go talk with Kane about this and I shouldn’t need to say this, but this doesn’t leave this room.”

I walked back to the hospital and just stood outside of Sophia’s room. How could I be so stupid? She is my whole world. I will give my life for her. She doesn’t deserve this at all. I hung my head and walked in. I knew I wouldn’t be met with open arms.

“I told you to stay the f**k away. Are you dumb or something.”

“No but I have something we need to talk about.”

“What!”

“I showed the letter to Clark.”

“Why would you do that? Why would you show people this doesn’t concern. Hasn’t she been through enough without letting more people know about what happened? Or are you trying to rub into her face about how you’re a man w***e. Trying to show people you will sleep with anyone while your mate was dying.”

I lost it at that point and Jax took control and jumped on Kane. He started punching him in the face. Landing a few blows to his jaw and with the last one I put all my strength into it, and you could hear a sickening snap of his jawbone.

I jumped up off him not meaning to get that carried away, but he had to let me finish. He was lying on the ground rolling in pain when I looked over at Sophia who had woken up at some point and was staring at me with wide green eyes.

“Sophia, your awake.”

“Go away Xander. You’ve ruined everything. I don’t want you.” She sobbed out.

“Please you have to believe me that I was drugged. I didn’t know what I was doing.”

“Did you know what you were doing the night you rescued me?”

“That was different, you have to understand. Let me explain.”

“Just go away.”

“Kane, we’re not done talking about this. Come find me after dinner.”

I turned and walked out of her room. I had to get out of here. Jax, please shift. I need to run. I didn’t care that I was still in the hospital. Jax took over and we ran out of there.
