Sophia’s Revenge – Chapter 62

Xander’s POV

We dropped Sophia off at Averys room and headed to my office. I sent a guard to stand outside her door. She doesn’t know it but won’t be alone until this is resolved.

“Kane, I don’t like this plan. She isn’t giving us much choice though.”

“I know we need to get a plan set up and I know we haven’t told any pack members about her being an emerald wolf, but we need to tell whoever we bring in about her, so they aren’t caught off guard.”

“I agree. Everyone will be here in about thirty minutes. Do you have any thoughts about this?”

“I think we need about thirty warriors to surround the area and you, and I can flank Sophia and your dad in front of her.”

“I like that. I also think we need to run some kind of drill here so that we have women and children and elderly in the safe house, but I don’t want to raise suspicions.”

“We can have your mom run that. We might have to bring in more warriors and let them know. That way they can stand guard outside the house and cells.”

“I hate to include that many people, but I think your right.”

We pulled some maps out to mark where we were meeting them and what we wanted between there and the house. We were marking things with little pens when everyone started to come into my office. Luke had gathered 30 of our best warriors, males and females.

“Everyone please, quite down. I need to speak with you quickly and then you will be free to return to your duties. There has been a threat to your future Luna. We have someone wanting to take her. We are working on a plan to stop them, but we aren’t sure who is behind it. We know one pack but there is another one behind them using them to get to us. There is something you need to know about your Luna. She is an emerald wolf. I would like you to keep that to yourself for now please. We are putting together a strategy for an attack Friday night. You have all been chosen to be there to protect her. We will have another meeting Friday after dinner in the conference room to hand out specific details. Please plan on being there. Does anyone have questions?”

One person raised their hand and stepped forward. “Sir, no disrespect, but aren’t emerald wolves dangerous and uncontrollable?”

“She has been here over a month now and you have all seen her. Do you find her a threat?”

“No, but everything we’ve ever been told about them is bad.”

“There hasn’t been a report of an emerald wolf in many, many years, so how do we know those stories were true? I think they were embellished to make kids behave.”

“Thank you, sir.”

“Everyone is dismissed and please keep this all to yourselves.”

“Luke, Jarrod, please stay.”

After everyone was gone, we went into more detail about what was going on and what we needed to do.

“Settle in, boys, we have a long night. Trevor will also be up soon.”

We sat back down at the table going over maps and where exactly everyone would be. Sophia sent us a mind link at dinner asking us to join her. I let her know we were still in our meeting.

Twenty minutes later, she walked in and had some amazing smelling food with her. She had enlisted Avery and Sara to help her.

“Boys, please stop for dinner. You have been down here all day and I made spaghetti for everyone.”

“Baby girl, that smells amazing. I hope you made lots because I’m starving.”

“Your always starving!”

“True!”

We moved the maps down and set everything up for dinner. She had everything. Spaghetti, garlic bread, salad, plates, utensils, napkins, and anything else we could need or want. I walked over to Sophia and kissed her cheek.

“Beautiful, this is amazing. Thank you.” I pulled her with me and sat her in my lap and we all dished up our plates. Everyone was quiet while we were eating.

“Sophia, this is the best spaghetti ever!” Luke said, which earned him a slap from Sara. This had everyone laughing.

We got done eating and helped clean everything up. “Girls, we’re not done yet, I am sorry.”

“That’s OK, let’s go have a girl’s night at our place!” Shouted Sophia all happily. They took off upstairs laughing and talking. It makes me happy to see her making friends.

We got the maps spread back out and started arguing about what to do with everyone at the pack house and if we should tell them or not.

“I am so over this! I am going to have my dad come in and give his opinion.”

My dad showed up ten minutes later. I showed him everything and then explained where we were held up at.

“You boys have done an amazing job planning this. I do think we should hold a pack meeting and tell them everything. I think it’s best if everyone was prepared.”

“Dad, I am not ready for everyone to know about her.”

“I understand, but the more that they know the truth, the more protection for everyone. Plus, we don’t want to hide things from the pack. It causes them to not trust us.”

“Ok, fine. We will have a mandatory meeting tomorrow at 1. I will link everyone.”

“Boys go to bed. It’s midnight.”

We all got up and left. We all headed to our room as the girls were there watching movies. When we got there, the sight had us all laughing.

They were all sound asleep on the couch together. They were a tangled mess of girls. We walked over and Trevor picked Avery up who didn’t even wake up. When Luke picked Sara up she shot up right trying to figure out what was going on. I walked over and picked up Sophia, who didn’t move at all. I laid her in bed and went to grab a quick shower. Kane had already stripped down and was crawling in behind her.

I quickly took my shower and crawled into bed. We had two days before the attack and three days before her Luna ceremony. I was tempted to cancel it, but we really needed to do it. She needed to be a part of the pack. She needed to be able to mind link everyone and she needed to have authority in case something happened out there. My eyes were getting heavy, and I gave into sleep.

I woke up shooting straight up in bed. I was breathing heavily and was covered in sweat. I had a nightmare about Friday night. It was my worst nightmare come true. Trevor’s spell didn’t work, and they were able to capture Sophia. They came at her and when they touched her, they just disappeared right in front of my eyes. I got up and got out of bed and went out into the living room. Kane was sitting on the couch in the dark.

” Couldn’t sleep?” I asked him, walking over to the couch.

“No, I had a dream about Friday night. We were in the meeting spot, and they were able to get to Sophia and they took her. They were able to get their hands on her and she just disappeared. It was my worst nightmare come true.

“That’s it, we’re not doing it. I had the exact same dream.”

” That’s really weird. I think we need to talk to Trevor about this more and make sure that this isn’t something that they can do.”

“Why are both of you boys out here? I don’t appreciate waking up in bed alone when it’s two AM.” Sophia came out scolding us.

“Sorry beautiful, we were just talking about Friday, and I really think we shouldn’t go through with it.”

“Either you guys can come with me on Friday, or I will go alone. The choice is yours.”

She turned and left us sitting there alone. I wasn’t ready to go back to bed and, apparently, Kane wasn’t either because we both just sat there staring into the dark.

I got up to make some coffee. If I can’t sleep, I might as well get some work done. I pulled out my laptop and opened up my spreadsheets for my business and reviewed our monthly finances. Something was off with them. Great, this is all I need. I am going to have my private accountant look into this. I worked until six AM when Kane came back out.

“Hey Xan, we really need to go eat so we can finish planning our attack. I don’t want her to do this, but we talked when I went back, in there and it’s going to happen whether we like it or not.”
