Sophia’s Revenge – Chapter 66

Xander POV

When we turned to head home, I was so out of it, learning that she was in fact my daughter and that she would easily kill her. Regardless of what happened, I wouldn’t let Sophia risk herself and I sure as s**t wouldn’t let Jules kill my daughter. We were about halfway home when there was a bright light and Jules appeared before us holding my daughter on her h*p.

“I told you that if you didn’t come with me easily, I would kill this child and you will be the one at fault.” Jules spat out.

Sophia didn’t say anything, but Stella had come forward as her eyes were glowing. I just sat there and watched the exchange. I couldn’t do anything yet as she was holding my daughter. I had to wait for her to do something I didn’t want to get ahead of myself and endanger either one of them. Suddenly there was fire around Jules.

“I told you to either come with me or this child will die. I will throw her in the fire. You have about five seconds.” Jules yelled out.

Stella just sat there, staring at her. She started to count down. She got to four and she lifted the child up by her arm and held her over the fire. When she said five, Stella produced an extremely bright light, and a shield was placed over Lucy, and she was floating above everyone.

Sophia had quickly shifted into Stella and jumped on Jules. They went rolling to the ground. Jules was faster and had Stella pinned down, snapping her jaws at her ready to strike. It was no or never. I jumped on Jules and got her pinned to the ground. She couldn’t see me, but she knew it was me.

“Xander, I know it’s you, we can have a great life together. We can raise our daughter and be happy. Kill Sophia and this all goes away.”

Nobody heard her and I didn’t even need to think of what I would do. I reached down and ripped her throat out. She became a lifeless being below me. I quickly shifted back, and Sophia was holding my daughter. I needed them, both of them. They were my life.

I rushed over to her and took Lucy from her arms. I could smell her. She held my scent. She was mine. My heart soared with so much love that I thought it would burst. I held her close to me, trying to get her to calm down.

“Sssshhhh, Lucy, it will be OK. I am your daddy.” Told her, trying to calm her down.

I looked over to Sophia who had tears in her eyes watching us.

“Beautiful are you ok? Are you hurt?” I asked her.

“No I am fine.”

Lucy had continued to cry. Everyone had shifted back, and we were walking back towards the house. It didn’t take us long to get there. We went and opened the doors to the safe room, and everyone was running to their loved ones who were out there. They were all happy to hear that there were no casualties and no injuries. My mom rushed over to where we were.

“Son, who is this child that you are holding? Where did she come from?” My mom asked me.

“Mom, this is my daughter. Apparently, when Jules left, she was pregnant and didn’t know it. Jules was behind the attack tonight and she was going to kill her if Sophia didn’t go with her willing, but Sophia saved her life.” I explained.

My mom grabbed Lucy from me and held onto her crying as well. She was so excited to have a grandchild.

“Mom, loosen your grip, you’re going to squeeze her to death.”

“Son, I am so happy to have a granddaughter. Let’s get her upstairs and cleaned up. I will have Avery go find a pack member with a child of the same size and get some clothes.”

“We need to bring Miles with us. She knows him and he may be able to help calm her down.” I told my mom.

We finally located Miles and Lucy ran straight to him. He picked her up and comforted her.

“Sissy, you are alright. We are safe now. Were mom and dad mean after I left?” He asked her.

She just shook her head and cried more. “Don’t worry, we are safe and Alpha Xander is your daddy here. He always was, you can trust him.” Miles tried to explain to her.

He just looked at me and I motioned for him to follow us up to my parents’ room. We gave her a bath and got her some food and she quickly fell asleep sitting in Miles’ lap.

“Thank you for bringing her back. She really is an awesome kid.” Miles said.

“I didn’t do it, it was Sophia.”

As soon as I said her name, it dawned on me that I hadn’t seen her or Kane in a long time. Where did they go? I sent both of them a mind link but got no reply.

“Since she is asleep, I needed to go find my mate. She has disappeared on me.” I told them as I got up to leave.

I walked out of my parents’ room and headed straight to our room. I found both Kane and Sophia sound asleep in bed. How could I forget about her? If it wasn’t for her, I wouldn’t have gotten my daughter. I quickly stripped down and crawled into bed and that is when I noticed that her face was red and puffy. She had been crying. I pulled her closer to me and it woke her up. She just looked up at me but didn’t say anything.

“Thank you beautiful. What you and Stella did tonight was amazing. I wouldn’t have my, I mean our daughter. I can’t thank you enough.” I said kissing her head.

“You mean you don’t hate me?” Sophia asked.

“Why would I hate you?”

“Because of the way I handled things. It looked like I wasn’t going to do anything, but Stella had a plan and I left her in charge. I thought maybe you hated me because it looked like I wasn’t willing to sacrifice myself for her, but I was. I am willing to do anything to protect that little girl.”

“Beautiful, I never thought that for a moment, I was amazed by you tonight and I will spend the rest of my life thanking you. I am sorry that I ignored you, I was just so overwhelmed by it all. I just want that girl to know that we love her.”

As soon as she said that she started to cry again.

“Beautiful, why are you crying?”

She started to sob and shake from crying so hard now. I pulled her closer to me and rubbed my hand up and down her back trying to comfort her. After a few minutes she took a few deep breaths and tried to contain her emotions.

“I am sorry.” Is all she got out before her tears started again.

“Why are you saying you’re sorry? You have nothing to be sorry for.”

“Because I can’t give that. I can’t give you a pup and I know how much you want more. I would do anything to give that to you and Kane.” She finally managed to get out in broken sobs.

“Beautiful, look at me please. I need to see your face.”

She wouldn’t look up at me, so I placed my hand under her chin and pulled her head up, so she was looking at me.

“We will have a family. I don’t care if they are of our b***d and DNA or if we adopt them. They will be ours and we will raise them with so much love. I love you and if you tell me now that you don’t want to adopt that is ok because I have you for the rest of our lives, you are enough and all that I need.” I told her.

“Are you sure, because you kept me in the dark about Lucy until you had to tell and have kept other things from, and I have a hard time believing you right now.” She said.

This broke my heart because she was right. I thought I was protecting her but all I did was hurt her more. Something no mate should ever do. I had so much to make up for.

“I am so sorry for that. I was wrong. I did things that I shouldn’t have done, and I will regret that for the rest of my life. I will spend the rest of my life making that up to you. Can you please let me try again? I am trying to be a better man for you.”

“Please just don’t keep things from me Xander. I am stronger than you think. I am not the same broken girl that I was when you first brought me here.”

“Never again I promise.”

“Where is Lucy?” Sophia asked me.

“She is sound asleep with Miles. I am going to have her stay with him while we all get to know each other, and she can adjust.”

“I want her to be part of the ceremony tomorrow. She needs to be up there with us. The pack needs to know who she is and that we accept her.”

When Sophia said this, I knew that she was perfect. She put everyone before herself and she already loved Lucy.

“I love you so much. You are going to be the most amazing mom and Luna.” I told her.

“Will you two shut up? I would like to get some sleep.” Kane said jokingly

“Just close your eyes and go to sleep and ignore us.” I said back to him.

We both shut up and Sophia scooted over and laid her head on my chest while Kane came close and wrapped his arms around her. They both quickly fell asleep again. My heart is so full right now it could just burst.

“Mom, Sophia wants to include Lucy in tomorrow’s ceremony. Can you make that happen?” I mind linked my mom.

“Of course. I am going to have to go get her a dress, but she can spend the day with us getting pampered.” My mom linked back.

“Thank you, mom.”
