Sophia’s Revenge – Chapter 70

Sophia’s POV

I was staring into Jules’ chosen mate’s eyes. They held nothing but hate. Hate for me, hate for Kane, hate for Xander. He had his hands around Kane’s neck, and he was helpless to do anything. Xander was circling them trying to find a way to attack but there was no opening.

“Let him go now!” I yelled.

“The way I see it, is mate for mate. Is he not your mate?”

Everyone had stopped fighting and was watching what was going on.

“You hurt one part of him, and I will rip you apart.” I yelled as I was also trying to convey how much love I had for Kane in my eyes.

He reached up with both hands and quickly snapped his neck. His eyes instantly became lifeless, and his lifeless body fell to the ground. I felt the pain of the broken mate bond and fell to my knees. Stella pushed herself forward because I couldn’t do this anymore, I couldn’t live without him.

Stella’s POV

I pushed forward and pushed Sophia back. This fucker was going to die. I pulled out all of my powers and pushed him back. He fell on his butt and started to scoot back.

“How are you doing this? I am protected by magic.” He asked

“I am the strongest emerald wolf to ever live. Your dumb magic is no match for what I possess. Now tell me, why did you kill my mate?”

“You killed mine.”

“No, she killed herself when she tried to sacrifice her child for her own gain. We now have custody of her.”

“She wouldn’t do that.”

“She did and now you are going to join her.”

“No please don’t.” He pleaded with me.

“You didn’t give my mate that option? Why would I you?” I used my power and shot a light at him, and it ripped his arm off his body. He let out a scream but still couldn’t move. I did the same and ripped off his other arm.

“This isn’t even close to the pain that I felt from the mate bond that you broke. You wouldn’t know because you didn’t mark her, did you?”

He didn’t reply, just continued to scream. I shot another light at him and ripped off both his legs at the same time. He screamed even louder. I couldn’t listen to him anymore. I shot another light, and his head came clean off. I turned to look to see what was going on behind me and the people that were attacking had started to retreat.

I ran over to Kane’s lifeless body and tried to heal him. I laid down on his chest and used every ounce of power that I had to heal him. I should be able to do this, and everything will go back to normal. He will continue to live this life with me. I don’t know how long we laid on him crying, but eventually, my power ran out and I could never hear a heartbeat. I pulled back and gave Sophia control.

Sophia’s POV

Stella gave me back control and we were lying on Kanes’ chest crying. She had tried to heal him, but it was too late, we couldn’t do this. He was gone forever. My heart hurt. It literally aches for him. I just want to hear him say “Baby girl” one more time. I wanted to tell him how much I loved him. I wanted to see his beautiful eyes one more time.

“No, I can’t leave him. This is my fault.” I sobbed out.

“No, it’s not. If I wouldn’t have killed Jules, he would still be here. I am so sorry.” Xander said.

“No, because I was going to kill her as well.”

I don’t know how long I laid there, but I woke up in our bed. I was completely alone. I don’t know how long I’ve been asleep, but my heart still hurts. I rolled over to his side of the bed and grabbed his pillow and pulled it to my face. It still smelled so much like him. It brought me some comfort but would be short-lived because the smell would fade, and he was still gone. I started crying again. I couldn’t stop. I just wanted him back. I don’t know if I will make it through this pain.

“Stella, are you ok?”

“No, but we will be. This war isn’t over. We still have the rouge king after us.”

“I don’t know if I have the strength to fight him.”

“You have to, we still have a mate and a daughter. They are worried sick about us.”

I didn’t answer her but just started to cry harder. After a while, Xander came in. “Beautiful, you’re awake. Why don’t we go eat something so you can get your strength back?”

“No, I can’t. I can’t do anything without him. I need both of you. Half my heart is gone. It’s missing.”

He crawled into bed with me and just held me while I cried. I know that he was crying also because I could feel his body shake with sobs.

“Beautiful, you still have me. I am here and we will get through this.”

“What don’t you understand, he completed me, he has loved me since day one. I never questioned his love. He was always gentle with me. I can’t do this. I can’t move on.”

He didn’t say anything, he just got out of bed and left our bedroom. He didn’t come back the rest of the night. I laid in bed just smelling Kanes pillow and crying. In fact, I did this for three days. Xander never came back to see me. I finally felt like I could get out of bed. I could move again. While my heart still hurts and always will. I needed to get up and shower.

“Stella, are you doing any better? Please tell me we can feel better?”

“I am slightly better like you, but it will take time. We need to shower and eat, and we need to go to our other mate.”

I got up and went and showered and headed downstairs in search of Xander. I ran into Luke. He gave a look of pity. I didn’t want his pity.

“Where is Xander?” I asked him.

“He is in his office, but he is in a meeting and doesn’t want to be interrupted.”

“Thank you.”

I didn’t care if he didn’t want to be interrupted or not, I was going to see him. I went to his office and knocked on the door. I didn’t wait for a come in. I just opened the door and walked in. I am not sure who this man and woman were, but he was talking with someone that wasn’t from our pack.

“Beautiful, I am so happy to see you. This is Kanes’ brother, Konner, and his mate Ashley. They have come for the funeral.” Xander explained.

I walked up to them and shook their hands and introduced myself. I moved over so that I could sit on Xander’s lap. It felt nice to be held by him. We just sat there in his office holding each other. He finally lifted his head and looked at me. Showing me love in his eyes.

“Ya, he is my mate.”

“You don’t understand when your mate dies, their mark leaves with them. That way, if you live, you can take a chosen mate.”

“I don’t understand. I had two mates, so I would never take another chosen mate. He was the other of me just like you are.”

“I don’t either, but we are going to look into this.”

“Why don’t we go eat? I know a little girl that wants to see you so badly. She asks about every hour when you will be better. She says she needs her other princess.”

“Let’s go see her.”

We walked to the dining room and found Luna Caroline and Miles sitting with Lucy eating dinner. We went and fixed our plates and sat down. Lucy started right in with her questions.

“Are you better now?”

“A little bit.”

“Can we paly?”

“Maybe later, I need to talk with your daddy some more.”

“Are you my mommy now?”

“Do you want me to be?”

“Yes, because you’re a princess like me. Well, that’s what daddy says, and you looked like a princess at your party.”

I couldn’t even answer her. She has brought me so much happiness in five minutes than I felt in the last few days. This little girl wanted me to be her mommy.

“She is just the cutest thing. I can’t wait to play princess with her.”

“I take it you love her.”

“Yes, she is our pup, and we will love her forever.”

We finished eating our meal in silence, apart from the occasional questions from Lucy.

“Beautiful, we need to go meet with Konner and Ashley regarding Kane’s services. Do you feel up to it?”

“Yes, he was my mate, I need to do this.
