Sophia’s Revenge – Chapter 72

Sophia’s POV

I woke up wrapped up in Xander’s arms. I was nice and warm, and I wasn’t ready to face it today. I needed to get up and go take a shower. I need a few minutes alone. I slipped out of Xander’s grasp and walked back to our room. I turned the shower on and stepped in.

“Stella, are you ready for today?”

“No, I will never be, but we need to bury this chapter and move on. We still have a mate that loves us. We need to say goodbye.”

“I agree, I don’t want to, but we have to. We have to let him go. We love Xander and we have a little girl who wants us to be her mommy. She makes me happy. She is something that I thought we would never have, and I want to be the best mommy to her. I think we should take her shopping and turn that guest room into a princess dreamland.”

“That will be fun, plus we can take mate’s credit card. We’re going on a shopping spree!”

This had me laughing.

” What’s so funny?” Xander said as he stepped into the shower with me.

“Well, Stella and I were talking, and we need your credit card for tomorrow please?”

“This sounds like it’s going to cost me?”

” Yes, it is, but I promise you will love it.”

“What are you buying?”

“I thought that maybe Lucy would like to move in with us and I thought maybe her, and I could turn it into a princess’ dreamland. I want to take her shopping so she can pick out everything she wants.”

“That is the best idea you have ever had. My credit card is yours. Well, my credit card is always yours.”

“Would you like to join us?”

“It would be my pleasure.”

We finished our shower and went to get ready. I wrapped my towel around me and went to blow dry my hair. I then ran the straightener over it. I wasn’t going to wear make-up, but I really never did. Once I was satisfied that my hair looked OK, I went to my closet and found a black dress to wear. I paired it with a pair of black flats. I walked back out to our room and Xander was sitting on the bed waiting for me.

“You look nice. We are going to get through this day together. I will not leave your side for one second. I have Lucy in daycare and my mom will be getting her after that.”

“Thank you.”

We walked downstairs and to the conference room where the services were being held. Someone had set up a table for him that people had brought to remember him by. You can tell that he was loved by everyone in the pack. We walked around greeting people. Most were giving us condolences. I would just smile at them and lean further into Xander.

“Beautiful, it’s time to sit down. I do have to stand up and say a few words. Would you like to stay sitting down or you could stand up there with me.”

“Can I speak?”

“Of course, I just didn’t think you would want to.”

“I loved him, it’s the least I can do.”

He just leaned down and kissed my forehead. We walked to our seats, Konner and Ashley on one side and Xander’s family on the other side. The councilman who performed our ceremony will also being today’s services.

“Thank you everyone for being here. I know that this is a hard day for everyone at Red Moon pack. I had only just me Kane, but I can see the love for life, his mate, his family, and for his pack that he had. From the gathering today I can see that he was also very loved by all of you. Your Alpha, would like to say a few words before we begin.”

Xander got up and grabbed my hand and we walked up to the podium and up to the microphone.

“Thank you everyone for coming today. To say this is a hard day is an understatement. Kane has been my best friend since we were born. It was like I was born with a best friend that was built in. Then came his brother and we turned into a trio. The three of us were thick as thieves. We caused so much trouble for our parents and, well, half of you in this room. I am sorry for all the grief that we caused you! I could go on for hours up here about Kane, but my beautiful mate would like to speak as well.”

Xander stepped back and gave me room to step up. I stepped up to the podium and just closed my eyes, trying to gather my thoughts and the strength to do this.

“Thank you everyone again for being here today. It is amazing to see the love that you guys have for Kane. Kane was a special person. Not only was he my mate, but he was also my first love. I loved him before I knew he was my other mate. He would come and visit me when I first arrived here. He would come every day. I very rarely talked back to him in the beginning, but regardless, he would always show up and just talk. I swear that boy would talk to a wall if he thought it could listen to him. I have yet to figure out his love of country music, but he would turn it up and sing and dance. He also loved to sing in the shower. It would wake me all the time and when I would go in all grumpy because of it he would just tell me that he was just giving me a front row seat to a concert. I will miss him for the rest of my life, we all will. Kane, I have loved you since before we were mates, and I will continue to love you until my last breath. Now he wouldn’t want us to be sad today. So, let’s make this a joyous occasion and celebrate him.”

I stepped back and into Xander embrace. We just stood there for a few seconds before heading down the stairs. I grabbed his hand and walked towards the door. I needed to get out of here. I need some air. I walked us through the dining hall and straight to the back door and outside. He just wrapped his arms around me and held me. We just stood outside holding each other crying. I finally looked up at him and said “we can get through this. Please be patient with me, it’s going to take some time.”

“Beautiful, I am with you every step of the way. We need to go inside. Everyone is in the dining hall now.”

“I hope that Lucy is there. I could use her right now.”

“Me too, beautiful.”

We walked back inside and went to the dining hall. Everyone was in there fixing plates of food and talking. I scanned the room looking for Lucy and the second her eyes saw us she jumped down and ran straight towards us. She immediately latched onto my leg.

“Mommy, I missed you.”

“I missed you to princess.”

“Do you feel better?

“I do now that you are here.”

“Daddy said you were said because you miss Uncle Kane.”

“Yes, princess I miss Uncle Kane.”

“Miles, says that mommy now lives in my heart. Does Uncle Kane live in your heart too?”

“Yes, princess he does.”

“Can he live in my heart too?”

“I think he would love that.”

“Why don’t I go get my princesses some food?”

“Daddy, I want cheese please.”

He just laughed and walked away, while I took Lucy to go sit down with Luna Caroline and Alpha Ty. We sat down at the table, and nobody was saying a word.

“Luna Caroline, thank you for helping so much with Lucy since she got here.”

“No need to thank me, she is my granddaughter.”

Xander came back over with two plates of food. He sat them down in front of us and went to get his food and came back while we all ate in silence. Nobody knows what to say.

“Who added the pictures to the scrapbook I made?” I asked the table knowing that someone here did it.

“That was me.” Avery said shyly.

“Thank you, it was beautiful. I don’t know how you got that done so fast, but I love it.”

“You’re welcome and if you need anything please let me know.” Avery said.

Xander had come back over started to eat. I wasn’t hungry and just pushed the food around my plate.
