Chapter 17: The Unwanted Attention

As Hannah made her way into the office she could feel the Intense gaze burning through her soul. They looked at her, eyes from all corners cast on her, and whispers flew around making her feel uneasy. She had not even realized what had happened. At first, she assumed that had food in her face and that she forgot to take our side she had forgotten to use a mirror that morning. But then after looking at herself through the mirror in the restroom. She could now see that they were not looking at her because she had food on her face.

There was no food on her face at all, the only thing that was on her face was the only red lipstick that she had worn on her lips this morning.

She knew she couldn't stay in the restroom all through the day, she had work to do and that did not allow her to hide like some thief in the restroom.

When she reclined on her seat, she had to read the mail once again just to make sure that she had not seen something else last night.

It was still there, she had won that client over to her and because of her he was going to do business with the company, that was a lot of money.

She glanced around once again and saw that her colleagues were still looking at her whispering. No doubt they were talking about her but she didn't catch up very quickly they had also heard that she had signed that client until Ashley strode towards her and attempted to hit her on her face, but Hannah was quick to hold her hand and push her back.

"Have you lost your mind?" Hannah glared at her, she might have let her down when she pleased the last time since she just come new but she was no longer new in the company and was within just everyone else, she wouldn't let him boss her around everywhere again. She had done one during the company's party and even though she had managed to make the situation a little better, Ashley was the cause of her depression.

"I should be the one asking you that, you conniving two-timing Witch! How dare you! you used to steal my project from me!"

Hannah glanced around and that was when she realized that everyone was talking about her since she had won and secured that project.

"Tell me, what is it that you used? Did you pay him or are you one of those workers who use their bodies to get clients and steal other people's projects?"

"Have you gone mad? You think everyone is like you! Perham, I know that scheme because you tend to use it as a slot instead of working so hard to gain clients. You are jealous now that someone else has gotten hers, the only thing that you are good at is faking it, not I will not let you try to sabotage my hard work just because you were incompetent"

Hannah glared at her, she was trying to discredit her right before her colleagues and that was something that she would not let happen, she got away with it the other night but he would not let her get away with it that night.

"Incompetent? You think that I am involved just because I lost one project, you stupid Woman"

"No, I think that you are incompetent because you are standing right here trying to discredit my work and make the others think that I didn't work he for it, that is what you are good at, I can see right through you. Perhaps, if you had taken your time and sourced for other clients instead of standing here, I would not have thought otherwise, but since you are here, you are an incompetent worker, your incompetence cost you your project and now you want to blame me, what do you think it is going to do? It won't change the fact that I won and you lost, so try winning other projects and quit nagging, you look like a ridiculous woman"

Ashley clenched her jaw. Hannah was not backing down this time around, and it was not the other night, but she was not you g to let her win, she had no clue how she won she had been trying for so long to secure that project with the client.

While the two of them continued to spar in the office, Mike walked into the room, he had been hearing their voices while trying to send an email to a client. As some of the employees saw him, they quickly turned back to their jobs, no one would want to be fired by Mike. "Will the both of you stop it?" He yelled getting them to quiet down.

Ashley, as of sensing that Mike was going to scold her, walked, as she walked past him, he held her arm.

"Why don't you take the rest of the day off to go cool off at home"

She didn't bother to say anything as she walked out of the room.

"You deserve congratulations, I suppose"

Hannah did not know what to say to him he was not her favorite person, and she would rather avoid him than have anything to do with him.

"Let's have dinner together"

"I don't think that will be necessary sister, I still have a lot of work to do"

"All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, and besides It is company policy, I also want to apologize for what happened here, you know with Ashley. I should have stopped it, I am to be held responsible for all of these so please let me do it, Hannah"

She studied the lines on his face, she knew that he was not about to give up even if she shook her head a million times and tell say it to his face that she was not interested. Not when he was her boss.

"It's just to discuss the project that you will be handling, you cannot refuse"

When Hannah realized that she could not refuse, she dreaded every moment that came along until working hours were over. Before she could fathom what was happening, she was already sitting in a fancy restaurant with Mike. Her heart was troubled, and her soul in anguish, she couldn't wait to get this dinner over and done with so she could head back to the house.

"You said you wanted to talk about work"

"Don't be a killjoy joy and let us enjoy this dinner"

"Mr. Mike" she was firm. That was a reminder that he was wasting her time and needed to cut to the chase so that she could get back home. He raked a hand through their hair and shot a smile at her, he was nervous a little.

"I am sorry for what happened in the past, I am sorry for my infidelity and the way that I didn't treat you right, if only I could go back home then I would treat you a lot better. I know that I cannot go back in time but I can definitely try to change a lot of things if you can just give me a chance"

The mere sight of him made her feel disgusted and having to sit here and listen to his gibberish made her feel even worse, she just wanted to throw up, disgusted. Hannah could waste another of her time and attempted to leave when he held her hand. "Stop! I'm sorry I should not be talking about these sorts of things. I will introduce you to a big client, I will set up a meeting so you can meet him, if you do translating work better you could earn lots of money, think about it and give me your response now" That was a good opportunity but she doesn't want anything to do with Mike. However this was not just about her, her mother, the hospital bills that she would have to pay and her growing small family, all of it was at stake and she had to make the decision now or lose out on everything.

"Yes," she whispered.
