Chapter 33: Cold war II

When Hannah left the breakfast table, she dashed into her room and shut the door, her heart was heavy, and she wanted to give into tears but couldn't at all. The walls were closing up on her and her breathing bead becoming synthetic, the only thing that she could do was breathe, she exhaled deeply trying to take a moment to sink in everything that had happened right from the first day that she stepped foot into his house. He didn't look like the sort of man who was keeping a secret from her.

The thought ate her up, as she walked down memory lane alone, so far, Shawn hadn't given her a reason to doubt and she always trusted him. Not that she didn't trust him at all, of course she trusted him, it was just that the both of them were keeping things from each other and that was not meant to be. She inexplicably fell into a cold war, she just wanted the ground to open and swallow her or for her to return to last night where she would rather have stayed in her bed than chase after him and meet the shock of her life.

She raked her hand through her hair, a part of her wanted her to do nothing else than to run back there and tell him that she had seen him Last night, she wanted to know who G was and why they were meeting last night. The mystery surrounding that man remained unresolved and yet she could not do that. She had her own secrets chasing after her and she wanted to tell him so that they could put an end to all these mysteries but then she couldn't.

She couldn't face him, she didn't know how to tell him that she was nothing but a replacement bride and couldn't tell him about it, he would find out that she was a liar and a deceit, she wasn't even meant to be his bride, it was supposed to be Jessica. Hannah was scared that he would get mad at her and her marriage would come to an end, her mother lay in the hospital and she wanted to save her, her thoughts were preoccupied and she hated it. She was hiding in here as if he could see right through her instead of being out there where he would talking to him. She was hiding like a criminal, even if she was a criminal and guilty of crimes. That made her heart squeeze and she just has to take it all in.

However, a knock on the door, sent her adrenaline rushing up and she couldn't believe it, he stood right outside the door, she thought that he would savor his breakfast and not bother about her. That was what she wanted, somewhere in her heart she always had that feeling that he would find looking for her.

"Hannah, are you alright, I really don't know what is wrong with you, can you talk to me?"

She didn't say a word, she was too scared to face him.

"Shawn, I'm alright, j am just resting"

"I know you are not resting, come on, what's going on with you? I know that you can hear me right now, you always hear me so why are you acting this way. Hannah you know that if you are In some sort of trouble you can really count on me, you can always trust me that I will help you alright. Why don't you just believe in me once again as you have always done and open the door"

Hannah smiled though it did not reach her eyes. She did not even lock the door, it was opened, she only closed it since she didn't have to lock it.

"I'm really alright Shawn, just give me a moment and I will be out"

"Does that mean that you will tell me what is wrong with you, I really want you to tell me what is wrong with you? If those people are giving you a hard time with at work you can trust in me once again"

At that point, it seemed that work was the only thing that was going to be right and she just didn't know how to tell him that, it was about her secrets if she hadn't kept her identity from him then she would have questioned him about his actions but she had no right to do that, not after what she had done to him.

"I don't think there is anything wrong with me, I am just tired, just need to rest"

"So why are you not heading to work? We both know that you take your job seriously, you will even leave very early in the morning"

"You can come in Shawn, the door is wide-"

While she was still talking, the door was kicked wide and he rushed into the door. He watched her, she was beautiful with a killer figure and always had that thing in her eyes, she was full of life but right now she was like a flower that was withering off and he didn't want to think that she was going through an inner battle. But that was the truth, reason battled with her principles and selfishness. She couldn't be selfish about the whole thing, she just needed to let it all out so that they could pass this phase of life and build more trust within themselves.

"For the very times that I have come to spend time with you, I always know that you were one of those women who loves to be open about their thoughts and why they are feeling but today, you seem to be living in your own world. I have always loved the fact that you don't let the drama at work or what your colleagues and boss make your move sour and I know that you weren't fired as well, otherwise, you would not have been working on those documents on the table last night. This only means that it was something else, nevertheless, you should tell me about it, I really want to help you, Hannah"

She exhaled and studied the lines on her face as she say down in the bed looking at her with those beautiful eyes, the memory of their time together the other day shot through his mind, they had a wonderful night together even though it was unfinished and someday it will get to be wrapped up with the two of them naked under the sheets. He pushed the thoughts aside, now wasn't really the right time to be thinking about all that.

She raked her hand through her hair, opening her mouth Hannah wanted to say it all out but then the dear hunted her down, she could not get her lips to move as she stared right into his eyes. Her heart raced as so many things ran through them, the aftermath of her lies was going to come after her and she does not want that.

"Hannah" he whispered once again, he was not disappointed but was sad that he didn't trust him enough to tell him all about it. "I will come back with your breakfast, you still need to eat" he got up and was about to walk away when she held his hand.
