Sweet Mischief’s Rollercoaster Romance -
Chapter 489
The Cedillo family was busy bundling up their kid like a little Michelin Man, and Mia wasn't spared either; her husband was making sure she looked like a bigger version.
Even though it wasn't the dead of winter yet, out came the thick coats and grandma's vintage wool pants for her to wear.
Mia protested, "Babe, I'm not wearing this. It totally clashes with my elegant vibe. You come to pick me up from the hospital in a million-dollar car, but then you dress me up like a country bumpkin? No way! I want to look fabulous." Andre, ever the patient one, coaxed her, "The trend now is 'ugly rich.' The uglier, the more elite. Come on, just put on another hat."
"Honey, I'm already wearing three. I'm chubbier now than when I was pregnant!"
In her mind, Mia had envisioned herself leaving the hospital looking stunning-flowy dress, chic sunglasses, and all. But reality was far from it; she looked like a bundled-up barrel.
Andre zipped up her coat and wrapped a scarf around her neck. "Keep your neck warm; don't want you catching a chill."
He then slipped gloves onto her hands. "Keep these on to stay warm. We don't need you catching a cold."
In no time, he was putting a mask on her. Before Andre could say anything, Mia quipped, "What's next? An oxygen mask so I don't suffocate?"
Everyone in the room was stunned for a moment and then burst into laughter. Even Hansen was amazed by Mia's wit. He wondered how she came up with such things.
Soon after, Molly came in from outside and saw her best friend looking like a bundled-up bear. She couldn't help but laugh. "Mia, this is definitely the ugliest you've ever looked!" Mia waddled around like a penguin. "Andre says the trend is 'ugly rich,' the uglier, the more elite."
Molly could hardly stand to look. She covered her eyes, "If Andre isn't in the fashion industry, it's a real loss, haha!"
Before long, their little 'barrel' son was all wrapped up too.
Barrel mom and barrel son looked at each other, only their eyes visible.
Mia looked at her son and burst out laughing. "Oh my gosh, kiddo, how many layers are you wearing? I've got three; what about you?"
Anya counted on her fingers. "Auntie, it looks like the baby has one more layer than you."
Mia sighed. "Oh, I lost then."
Henry, seeing the chubby barrel in front of him, didn't recognize who it was. He had never seen this person before.
When Mia took off her mask, revealing her face, the little guy saw it was his mom and started to smile.
"Honey, come look at our son. He recognizes me!" Mia exclaimed excitedly.
Then, Mia put the mask back on.
Henry's eyes stayed fixed on Mia's eyes, staring blankly.
When she took off her mask again, the little guy saw her face and smiled, sticking out his tongue.
Then, she put the mask back on. After a few times, the little guy seemed to recognize that it was his mom. He wasn't fooled anymore.
This time, the baby's dad handed his mom a pair of sunglasses.
And then...
Henry looked at the woman in front of him wearing sunglasses, blinked, and then looked at his familiar dad.
Everyone in the room quietly watched the little guy, waiting for his reaction.
Henry was confused: ?? Where's mom?
The room was quiet for a minute, then Henry started to cry in his swaddle.
Two seconds later, the room was filled with his crying, mixed with the laughter of the adults.
When the child started crying, no one in the room could soothe him. In the end, the child ended up in his father's arms, looking at his dad, still whimpering.
After teasing the little guy, Mia took off her sunglasses and mask in front of her son. "Baby, mom is here."
Henry looked at Mia's face, his eyes filled with tears.
Mia stepped forward, kissed her son, and the little guy stopped feeling upset.
When they left the hospital, Andre held their son in one hand and his wife's hand in the other. They arrived at the hospital entrance.
Mia walked a few steps, and she was so hot that her back was covered in sweat.
When she opened the car door and sat in, she unzipped her coat, reached out for her son, and untied the rope around his waist. Mia was worried that it would hurt her son; she wanted him to lie comfortably without any restrictions. Andre closed the door and went to the front to drive.
In the car, it was just the three of them. Andre was driving, and mother and son were in the back.
On the way home, Andre couldn't stop smiling. Through the rearview mirror, he glanced at the mother and son playing in the back. At this moment, their family of three was about to return to their future home. To settle down from then on.
In the back seat, the little guy put his hand in his mouth to suck. Mia teased him, pulling his hand out. He wasn't happy and pouted. Mia pinched his little nose, kissed his forehead, and rubbed his cheeks.
The little guy curiously looked at the car roof, as if he had discovered a new world, his mouth moving as if he wanted to speak.
Mia tapped his little mouth. "Do you like your dad's car? Do you know who's driving us home? It's your dad, my husband."
Andre, who was driving, called out, "Tianzhi?"
The little guy didn't move, as if it had nothing to do with him.
Mia picked up her son, moved her body forward, and let the little guy see the person who had just called his name through the gap between the driver's and passenger's seat.
The road ahead was a red light. Andre stopped the car, turned his head, and looked at his little son in the back seat, smiling.
Not long after, the car started moving again. Mia sat back, holding her son.
The rest of the journey was quiet. No one spoke, but the car was filled with warmth.
Andre's wish for the rest of his life was probably just like this. To have small happiness in a simple life, and small warmth in daily life.
About forty minutes later, they arrived at Maplewood Estates.
It was Cooper's first time here. He looked around at the open space.
After observing, he nodded in satisfaction.
His father asked him, "Why are you nodding?"
Cooper said, "The place is big enough for my sister to practice boxing."
The house staff were all in place. Mia, still in her coat and holding her son, ran quickly into the house.
The heating in the house had been on for a while, and as soon as they entered, it felt as warm as spring.
Before they could relax, Madison and Naomi rushed in and started scolding her. "You're in your confinement period. Your body hasn't recovered yet. Why are you running around?"
Madison spoke sternly to her daughter, scolding her as she should.
Naomi spoke gently, "Mia, there are so many things to take care of during confinement. You can't run around and jump. Your body won't handle it. Hang in there."
Mia had just returned home and was already being scolded. She didn't really want her mom around anymore.
She gave her husband a pitiful look, just like Henry's.
Madison: "You see, Andre, do you still expect him to stand up for you?"
Mia bit her lower lip as her mother scolded her. "Mom, I'm a mother now. Please, stop scolding me. I got it."
Andre also felt that a few words would suffice. He didn't want Mia to be upset for too long.
So, he stepped forward, took the baby from his wife, and hugged Mia. "Mom, Mia understands. She was just worried about our child staying outside for too long and catching a chill. That's why she rushed back home with the baby."
