Sweet Mischief’s Rollercoaster Romance -
Chapter 488
Since Mrs. Cedillo had just given birth, she needed to rest and recuperate. So, the next day, any visitors were kept at bay by the Cedillo family's staff. Moreover, Andre made it clear to everyone that no one was to disturb his wife's recovery. After Andre's announcement, no one dared to visit anymore.
Meanwhile, the area around Mia's hospital room was heavily guarded by the Cedillo family's bodyguards. Just to be extra cautious, whenever the little one went for a bath, someone was always close by.
Even Mr. and Mrs. Calder wanted to visit, but due to Andre's strict instructions, they settled for a phone call to express their well-wishes.
The little one started breastfeeding the previous night. Initially, Mia was a bit too shy to let her son breastfeed. She banished her husband and mother from the room and secretly figured out how to nurse her child. "You know, it's just feeding him, no need to be shy even around us," her mother had said, chuckling.
Standing outside the tightly shut door, Andre said with a mix of helplessness and affection, "Mia is young and new to this. Let's give her the time and space she needs."
After feeding, Mia opened the door, her cheeks flushed.
The little one lay on the bed, full and content, waiting for his dad to hold him.
Having had a taste of the good stuff the night before, today he refused to drink formula. He cried out of hunger, and when his dad held him and tried to feed him from a bottle, he stiffened and cried while looking at Mia. "...Why are you looking at me?" Mia said, pausing from counting money.
A loud cry snapped Mia back to reality.
Eventually, Mia accepted her new role as a mother, put down the money, and held her son to breastfeed him.
Luckily, apart from the first day when there were many visitors, the rest of her hospital stay was pretty relaxed. Sometimes, she even took her newborn son to visit other patients in the hospital, letting Coleen see him. The little one now not only smelled sweet but also looked fair and chubby.
"Mia, when are you getting discharged?" Coleen asked gently.
"The doctor said I could leave tomorrow, but my husband wants us to stay a few more days. So, we'll go with his plan," Mia replied, adjusting the soft wrap around her son.
Seeing Coleen's room was empty except for her, Mia asked, "Auntie, are you alone here?"
Mia knew her best friend was at school and would go to the company afterward, only coming to the hospital in the evenings. On non-school days or weekends, she would visit and hold the baby. But if she wasn't at the hospital, other family members would be with Coleen. Coleen didn't mind, "My mother-in-law was here earlier. She must have gone out to buy something."
After spending some time with Coleen, Mia noticed her son getting restless in her arms. She got up, saying, "Coleen, I'm going to take the little one back now."
While waiting for the elevator, Mia saw two people pushing and shoving at the fire exit.
The little one, curious about the world, lay slanted in her arms, looking around with wide eyes.
"Son, is that your aunt's aunt?" Mia, who had a good memory, asked her son when she saw Juliana. The little one: "......"
Mia lowered her head, making eye contact with the baby in her arms, "Oh right, you don't know her."
Taking a couple of steps towards them, Mia called out softly, "Grandma Aubree?"
The bickering duo halted and turned to see Mia with her baby.
Juliana scrutinized Mia from head to toe.
Seeing a familiar face holding a baby, the Byrne family's grandmother said, "Mia, you go up first. Grandma will come see you later."
The little one seemed to be talking to her, wriggling excitedly in her arms.
Mia patted her son to calm him. Just then, the elevator arrived, "Then I'll head up first. Coleen is alone in her room."
After saying that, she entered the elevator with her son.
At the fire exit, Juliana watched Mia's shadow, unable to recall where she had seen her before, "Mom, who is she?"
Knowing her daughter's snobbish tendencies, Grandma Aubree didn't reveal Mia's identity. "What does it matter who she is? She's just another patient. Juliana, I don't care why you're here today, but I'm warning you, don't cause trouble. If you upset your brother and the two families stop interacting, will you be happy?"
"Mom, I just came to see how Coleen is doing. Vivian told me that the fatality rate of cancer is very high. I want to see how she's recovering."
Grandma Aubree looked sternly at her daughter, "If you dare to disturb Coleen today, I will disown you. Don't expect a penny from me." With that, Grandma Aubree left.
When Mia returned to her room, her mother was tidying up the bedding. She gently placed her son, who had fallen asleep during the elevator ride, on her hospital bed. Seeing him sleep restlessly, Mia gently patted his swaddle. "Mom, I just saw Molly's aunt from the Byrne family downstairs. She seemed to want to visit Coleen, but Grandma Aubree wouldn't let her."
Madison: "Is there something going on with the Byrne family?"
Mia shook her head, "No big issues, just some small ones, I guess."
The mother-daughter duo chatted casually, watching the little bundle sleep. They both felt a moment of warmth. Mia leaned over, pouted her lips, and lightly kissed her son's soft, fair cheek.
The little one seemed to be having a sweet dream, smiling in his sleep.
Babies eat and sleep, sleep and eat. That's how it is for mothers in confinement too.
Now Mia wasn't lonely. She had the little one for company.
The only problem was when he cried at night, which could be quite a headache. Luckily, she had her husband by her side.
Andre worked during the day and appeared at the hospital early after work. He spent most of his time holding his son. He also got up the most at night.
But when the little one needed to be fed in the middle of the night, no one could replace the mother's role.
Mia, too lazy to get up, allowed the little one to take over his father's spot after just two days. He became the baby sleeping next to his mother.
Ah, he was over the moon. He'd even cry himself to sleep, humming a little tune, then quieting down at the familiar scent of his mom. But his dad wasn't thrilled.
Seeing his tender age, Andre didn't have the heart to spank him. He only issued a warning, "You won't be comfortable for long."
Sure enough, in just a few days, both he and his mom were due to be discharged from the hospital.
On the day of Mia's discharge, it was quite the spectacle. The Cedillo family never does anything halfway!
Even for a hospital discharge, Andre had a Rolls-Royce Phantom limousine brought in. Five cars were dispatched just to pick up Mia and the baby, with not a single family member left behind. The only thing missing was a palanquin to carry Mia. Due to the cold weather, both she and the baby were the primary focus of protection.
