Dylan stood there, stunned. His mouth was slightly agape, and his pupils involuntarily dilated.

"What... did you say?" He finally managed to find his voice after some time. His gaze slowly shifted down from Ruby's face and landed on her still imperceptible small belly.

Ruby placed her hand on her stomach and drew two circles. "I'm pregnant with Kevan's child," she said proudly. Dylan couldn't believe it. Kevan would never have been intimate with her.

"Ms. Cole, you shouldn't be coming to the hospital since you're pregnant. There are many viruses and bacteria here, and pregnant women have weaker immune systems. It would be troublesome if you fell ill." His immediate thought was to persuade Ruby to go back and avoid any encounter with Larissa.

Larissa's reaction would be different from his. If she found out that Ruby was pregnant, she would undoubtedly assume the child belonged to Kevan. And it would be too late by the time Kevan woke up. But the more he feared something, the more it seemed to become a reality.

Before he could say anything more, the door to the ward opened once again. Larissa held the doorknob with one hand and said expressionlessly to Ruby, "Come in."

Though she was angry that Ruby had come to see Kevan after such a long time, Ruby was still someone he deeply cared about. If he were awake, he would probably forgive her without a second thought. Not to mention, she was now carrying his child. Larissa believed Kevan would definitely want to see her.

Dylan's eyes widened even further. He didn't expect Larissa to arrive before him. Did that mean she had heard their conversation? Panic set in as he envisioned the storm Kevan would face when he woke up. The bodyguards, who had been blocking the door obediently moved aside, creating a path for Ruby to enter after hearing Larissa's command.

Ruby felt annoyed when she saw Kevan's bodyguards following Larissa's orders. As she passed by them, she couldn't help but glare fiercely, but the bodyguards paid no attention to her; they remained indifferent, looking straight ahead.

Once inside the ward, she rushed to Kevan's side and grabbed his hand. "Kevan!" She held his hand, calling out to him in a lingering and gentle voice, completely different from her earlier tantrum at the door. Tears rolled down her cheeks and landed on the blanket covering Kevan. Larissa frowned as she observed the scene.

"Don't lean on him; he has a chest injury," she audibly reminded Ruby. Ruby sniffed and turned, giving Larissa a disdainful look but responded, "Oh, okay." Her voice carried a sense of victimhood and sorrow. Unfortunately, only Larissa could appreciate her exceptional acting skills; there was no one else in the room.

"Kevan," Ruby called out once again as she straightened her body. As expected, Kevan's eyes remained tightly shut. His breathing was even but weak. Ruby waited for a while, but there was no response. She shook his hand and continued to act spoiled. "Kevan, wake up! I've brought our child to see you!"

The tubes attached to him also moved as Ruby shook his hand. Larissa suppressed her annoyance and the urge to kick Ruby out of the ward, and coldly said, "Stop yapping. He's unconscious; he can't hear you."
