Sweet Subterfuge novel by Trina Duo -
Chapter 417
Feeling a little disappointed, Violet answered, "I hope so."
Her dissatisfaction with Ruby grew as she started to miss the good times she shared with Larissa.
"By the way, that student of yours-Aster in your class, is he a new transfer student?" She shifted the topic to Aster.
"Yes, he transferred here less than a week ago." At the mention of Aster, a smile appeared on the homeroom teacher's face. "He is outstanding, smart, obedient, and kind to other classmates. Everyone in the class likes him. Speaking of which, you can encourage Bethany to befriend Aster. If their relationship improves, the other classmates will accept Bethany as well."
Violet didn't like Aster much-after all, he was the child of Larissa and another man, which made her feel uncomfortable. Hearing the teacher praise him like this made her more uneasy. The stark contrast between Aster and Bethany made her feel ashamed.
She couldn't help but think that if Larissa had conceived Kevan's child, the child would have turned out like Aster. At that thought, she let out a heavy sigh.
All the students and teachers in the class began to notice how Bethany had changed. It had been a week since she last hit her classmates, snatched toys from others, or insulted them for being poor. She started clinging to Aster, giving him all her delicious food and fun toys, and even claimed to be his "best friend."
However, Aster didn't see her that way. He was tired of Bethany sitting next to him, hugging his arm, forcing random things onto him, and he didn't want to be friends with her.
He often felt that Bethany was trying to please him not because she wanted to be his friend but for some other motive.
He shared his troubles with Larissa. Coincidentally, Larissa didn't want Aster to get too close to Bethany either. "Just ignore her and don't accept anything she gives you," she told Aster. "Over time, she will get the message."
She didn't think a young child would have much patience. If Aster ignored Bethany for a few days, she would surely give up.
However, Bethany didn't give up. Instead, when she got home, she complained to Violet, "Grandma, Aster doesn't want to be friends with me! I gave him my favorite snacks and toys, but he still ignores me!" She intended to make Violet dislike Aster and revoke the order for her to spend more time with him. But when Violet heard it, she interpreted it as Aster still being afraid of Bethany and not forgiving her. "You're not allowed to see your mother anymore," Violet said coldly.
After learning about Bethany's true nature, Violet kept her close, personally taking care of her daily activities and not allowing Ruby to interfere in her education.
Originally, she intended to send Bethany back to Ruby on weekends to let her spend some time with her mother, but it seemed unnecessary. Educating Bethany properly and bringing her back to the right path was most important.
Violet expected Bethany to throw a tantrum and wail loudly, but she didn't. Instead, Bethany's eyes widened as she asked, "Really?"
Her eyes sparkled with joy.
When Violet confirmed it, Bethany jumped up and down excitedly and exclaimed, "That's great!"
