Chapter 486
After Larissa had arranged for Gary to be admitted to the hospital and ensured that he had completed all the necessary examinations, she left the hospital. Shortly after her departure, Alex went to meet Gary.
Since he just suffered from a seizure, Gary wasn't feeling too well.
In addition, he had to go to different departments in different buildings of the hospital for his examinations.
After getting poked and prodded at, Gary collapsed on the hospital bed out of exhaustion.
However, when he heard the sound of the door opening, Gary opened his eyes groggily.
Initially, Gary thought that Alex was a doctor coming to check up on him as he was wearing a white coat, so Gary forced himself to sit up.
He did not expect to be greeted with an ingratiating smile on Alex's face as he approached the bed.
"Nice to meet you, Mr. Logan!"
Gary was momentarily taken aback by Alex's effusive greeting, but the expression on his face remained nonchalant as he was used to people trying to curry favor with him. With a faint smile, Gary replied, "Nice to meet you too."
Alex stretched out his hand for a handshake and introduced himself. "I'm the head of this department, Alexander Wade."
Gary shook his hand gently and asked, "Dr. Wade, is there something you need from me?"
There was much that Alex wanted to say, but when he remembered that someone else was waiting behind him, he had to put his personal issues aside first.
Turning back, Alex muttered, "It's not me, but a friend of mine who is here to see you."
Gary furrowed his brows. It was one thing for hospital staff to flatter him and try to get into his good books. However, it was another matter entirely to leak information about his stay in the hospital and allow outsiders into his ward freely.
Feeling annoyed, Gary was about to drive all of them out when he noticed the man standing behind Alex.
In that instant, Gary was at a loss for words.
After Soaring Corporation extended its willingness to partner up with Blue Star Shipping, Gary thoroughly investigated the company.
Although Kevan didn't seek out the limelight like his cousins, he wasn't completely out of the picture either.
Regarding Kevan's public information, Gary knew him well.
At present, Microworks Corporation and Blue Star Shipping had no connection whatsoever.
However, it didn't mean that there wouldn't be potential for future partnerships.
Naturally, Gary wanted to be courteous to Kevan.
"Who is this?" Looking at Kevan, Gary asked offhandedly, but there was no hostility in his tone.
Kevan stepped forward with a slight smile. "I'm Mr. Rogers, Cody's cousin. I'm working at Soaring Corporation as well. I heard that you were admitted into the hospital, so I came on behalf of the company to visit you."
Kevan was disguising himself as a representative of Soaring Corporation as he didn't want to reveal his true identity.
Gary was caught off guard by Kevan's unexpected introduction of himself.
From what he knew, after Kevan got injured and fell into a coma six years ago, his influence within Soaring Corporation gradually diminished. Although he still held a position in the company, he had no say in the company's affairs.
Yet he claimed to visit Gary on behalf of the company ...
Gary was already disoriented by everything that had happened today, and now he completely lost the ability to think altogether.
No matter how he racked his brain, Gary couldn't figure out Kevan's true intentions for coming here.
However, since Kevan introduced himself in this manner, Gary decided to go along with it.
"I see, thank you for your concern, Mr. Rogers," he replied, nodding slightly.
Kevan gestured to Alex, who reluctantly left the ward.
Once they were alone, Kevan pulled up a chair and sat by Gary's bed naturally, as if he were in his own home.
"How's your health?" Kevan started the conversation with this question.
With a look of concern on his face, he seemed like he genuinely came to visit a patient at the hospital.
Gary replied with a smile, "I'm fine, it's just some chronic ailments acting up. To be honest, I didn't need to be hospitalized, but ... my assistant made a huge fuss and insisted that I stayed back for a thorough examination."
He was about to mention Larissa's name when he realized that Kevan wouldn't know her, that's why he switched mid-sentence.
Kevan echoed stiffly, "Yes, it would be prudent to have a full check-up, just to be sure."
