Gary chuckled awkwardly, and the conversation came to an abrupt end.

The two men fell silent, making the atmosphere more awkward.

Changing the topic, Kevan said, "I heard that this time you're staying at the Winston Hotel instead of the Regal Dynasty Hotel?"

Although Gary was currently relieved that he was staying at Winston Hotel, he wasn't pleased when he was informed that the presidential suite of Regal Dynasty Hotel had been occupied.

The smile in his eyes faded and he replied indifferently, "That's right."

Kevan immediately noticed the slight change in Gary's emotions as he was skilled at reading the expressions on people's faces.

"What an idiot he is!" Kevan couldn't help but utter profanities under his breath at Cody's foolishness, despite having cursed Cody countless times before this.

Although Cody was clinging on to the partnership with Blue Star Shipping as his lifeline, he didn't even care to visit the CEO himself.

Kevan had reason to believe that even if he did nothing, Cody would bring the Soaring Corporation to complete destruction within just one or two years.

However, he couldn't wait that long.

Kevan quickly apologized on Cody's behalf. "The presidential suite at Regal Dynasty Hotel has been occupied by a guest for an extended stay, it's not that our CEO failed to reserve the suite for you. Anyways, I'm truly sorry for the inconvenience."

"It's fine." Gary waved his hand dismissively.

Even if he had grievances against Cody, he wouldn't direct that anger toward Kevan.

"To express our apologies and sincerity for the upcoming partnership, Soaring Corporation will take care of all your expenses during your stay in Bartham, including the hotel and hospital expenses," Kevan added.

Gary declined as he did not lack the money. "That's not necessary. Besides, the hospital expenses were already paid for by the general manager of the Winston Hotel, Ms. Seymour." Coincidentally, Kevan was struggling with how to bring up the topic of Larissa.

When he heard Gary's words, he picked up on it immediately. "Ms. Seymour? I'm friends with her."

He deliberately said it in a way to imply that they were close.

Since Kevan no longer had a significant role in Soaring Corporation, Gary hadn't sent people to investigate his personal life. Naturally, he didn't know about Kevan's past with Larissa. Gary's eyes lit up with interest when he heard that Kevan and Larissa were friends.

Staring straight at Kevan, Gary asked curiously, "Are you close to Larissa?"

Kevan nodded. "We're quite close, but I'm more familiar with her son."

He could tell that Gary was unusually concerned about Larissa.

He wasn't sure if Gary was interested in Larissa as a woman, thus he brought up her son deliberately as a precaution.

However, there was not a hint of surprise or dejection on Gary's face. This indicated that he had already known about Larissa having a son.

"Well, are you acquainted with her family?" Sitting up, Gary asked anxiously, "I mean, other family members besides her son."

"

Aware of his current status as an amnesiac, Kevan shook his head. "I only know her son."

"Oh." Shoulders slumped, Gary leaned back on his pillow. His eyes had lost their sparkle.

Lost in thought, Kevan racked his brains for an answer when he observed Gary's evident disappointment.

It seemed that Gary was more interested in finding out more about Larissa's family than Larissa herself. Could it be that Gary knew someone in her family?

Considering Gary's age, he would be acquainted with someone from the older generation.

Was he a friend of Yvette? Or was he friends with Larissa's father, whose identity was still unknown?

Kevan knew that he needed to send people and investigate the answer to these burning questions.

If Gary was really connected to Larissa's family, his plan would be at stake.

Kevan pressed his lips together as his gaze darkened.
