Shortly after Larissa returned to the hotel, she heard the news of Roland's passing.

With Roland's status and influence, every move that he made garnered considerable attention, even though he had already taken a backseat from his company's affairs. Understandably, his sudden death dropped a bomb on the whole country.

Since last night, many important figures of the business world had rushed to Pine Mansion and caused extensive congestion in that area, drawing complaints from neighbors living nearby.

Similarly, various media outlets and government departments received numerous complaints over the phone regarding the slow-moving traffic.

Although the Winston Hotel was considered a rival to the Regal Dynasty Hotel, more than half of their management had jumped ship from the Regal Dynasty or other hotels and resorts under the Soaring Corporation. They still felt a sense of gratitude toward their former employer.

Even though most of them had never seen Roland in person during their employment, they expressed shock and sorrow upon hearing the awful news.

Larissa was no exception.

On top of that, her emotions were more complicated than most.

She had personally met Roland and had pleasant memories with him, despite the unfavorable outcome.

When she heard the news, tears welled up in her eyes, and her nose got stuffy. For a moment, her vision became a blur.

Larissa quickly suppressed her feelings.

Among other things, what she cared most about at the moment was Kevan's condition.

Although she hadn't had much interaction with Roland, she could clearly see that Kevan was his favorite among all his grandchildren. They were particularly close.

Larissa had never personally experienced the death of a loved one, because she didn't have anyone she would consider a loved one in this world. She couldn't imagine what Kevan was going through at the moment.

However, she didn't dare to disturb him and made a phone call to Dylan instead. "I heard that Old Mr. Rogers of Soaring Corporation passed away."

"Can't you address him as your grandfather? At the very least, you used to be his granddaughter-in-law. Why make things so awkward?" Dylan teased half-jokingly.

When Larissa heard his light-hearted tone, she felt a slight bit of relief. Kevan's condition shouldn't be too bad.

"That's all in the past." There was no expression on Larissa's face, but her eyes were filled with sorrow. "Let's get to the point. We have several employees who had worked within Soaring Corporation for a long time. They would like to pay their respects to Old Mr. Rogers. Besides, we want to offer condolences on behalf of our company. If you don't mind, could you tell me the time and location of the funeral?"

"The funeral is held at Pine Mansion. Since you know where it is, just go there directly," Dylan said.

"Alright, thank you."

Larissa thought for a moment and asked, "How is Kevan coping?"

Dylan felt the urge to reveal everything that had happened when he recalled Kevan's drunken state last night.

However, Kevan's stern instructions from this morning echoed in his ear and Dylan smiled sadly instead. "He's fine. You know he has amnesia, so Old Mr. Rogers is no different from a stranger to him." Taken aback by what she heard, Larissa felt a strong wave of grief wash over her.

Losing his memory might help Kevan escape from the pain temporarily, but the sorrow he would have to bear after regaining his memories would be a hundredfold more than what he was experiencing now. Larissa and a few others discussed it briefly and decided to go to Pine Mansion in the afternoon.

The surrounding roads were still heavily congested and several traffic police officers were directing traffic from the middle of the road.

The alleyways around Pine Mansion were closed off and no cars were allowed to enter.

Fortunately, Larissa and her colleagues had the foresight to take the subway instead of driving there, so they arrived at their destination without any trouble.

Although it was already late in the afternoon, there was still a huge crowd at Pine Mansion who came to pay their respects.

Among them were many familiar faces and famous people that Larissa had seen before on the television or in newspapers.

Now that she had the chance to walk with them side by side, Larissa felt strange, as if she had gone into another dimension. Entering Pine Mansion, the first person Larissa saw was Ben, the butler.

He had been receiving guests all day long, guiding them in the right direction.

Larissa hadn't expected him to remember her.
