Aster frequently followed Larissa when she went to work, so he knew most of the people she interacted with at work. Due to Larissa's identity, the attitudes of those people were very friendly. He could not tell who were the ones trying to woo Larissa or who were the ones who were only just flattering her.

So, he gave Kevan a vague answer. "I guess so?"

There was a little bit of his cunningness involved in this. If Uncle Kevan really liked his mommy, he might feel a sense of danger knowing that his mommy had other potential partners, so he would speed up the process of trying to bag his mommy. The moment Aster thought of how Uncle Kevan would soon be his daddy, he could not stop himself from smiling, and the happy glint in his eyes was unmistakable. Kevan could not understand Aster's expression. He could sense Aster's joy, but he could not get where it was coming from.

Could it be... he really hoped that other men would pursue Larissa?

But-

"Aster, when you said that you liked me, you were not lying, were you?" Kevan was unsure now.

"Of course not!" Aster's response was sure. "Other than Mommy or Godma, I like Uncle Kevan the most!" "Then... when compared to other uncles?" Kevan asked again.

"I don't want other uncles, I only want Uncle Kevan!" Aster hugged his neck, his face very close to his.

Kevan felt just the slightest bit of relief, but he really disliked other people dreaming of Larissa. He figured that he had the need to send people to keep an eye on the men around Larissa.

It was time for Aster to go to school. Larissa switched off her alarm and opened her eyes to see that Aster had not returned from next door yet. She went over to wake him up, and when she opened the door, she saw Aster and Kevan hugging each other like they were father and son. Their foreheads were touching and their breathing was evenly matched. They slept well.

She stood at the door, shockingly finding herself unable to step into the room further-she did not wish to disrupt such a beautiful sight. She always knew that Aster liked Kevan and that Kevan loved Aster too. If it were not for all those issues from the past, Kevan was undoubtedly the best candidate to be his stepfather, and she was more than happy to fulfill Aster's wish.

Alas...

Taking in a deep breath while discarding all the nonsensical thoughts in her mind, Larissa walked over to the bed in large strides, gently shaking Aster's shoulder. Aster did not move, but Kevan opened his eyes. They were bleary from sleep, and Kevan looked unfocused. He kind of looked cute like that.

Larissa's heart jolted, and she frantically looked away.

"What's wrong?" Kevan's voice was hoarse and nasally.

Larissa hastily patted Aster twice and said, "He needs to wake up for school."

Aster wrinkled his nose like a puppy and buried himself deeper into Kevan's embrace. "I want to sleep with Daddy, not go to school."

He was mumbling, clearly not yet awake, but the word "daddy" stunned both Larissa and Kevan.

Larissa only felt embarrassed. She forcefully yanked Aster out of Kevan's embrace and barked coldly. "Alastair Simmons, wake up right now! You'll be late!" Kevan pressed his lips together as he watched quietly, not knowing what to say.
