Finally, Aster was completely awake.

Pouting, he stared at Kevan who was still lying on the bed, and asked Larissa, "Can't I skip kindergarten today? Uncle Kevan's still sick. I have to stay at home and take care of him!"

Aster loved going to kindergarten, so Larissa knew that this wasn't just an excuse to skip school.

He was either genuinely worried about Kevan and wanted to take care of him, or his attachment to Kevan was stronger than his desire to play with his friends.

In the first place, Larissa's mind was already confused by distressing thoughts. Now, it seemed that more troublesome issues had cropped up again.

The closer Aster was to Kevan, the more afraid Larissa became.

Involuntarily, she wondered if one day Aster couldn't do without Kevan and insisted on having him as his stepfather, how was she to reject his request?

Larissa wasn't sure if she could bring herself to be so heartless.

Naturally, Kevan wanted to stay and be around Aster.

Unfortunately, he had some important things to attend to today. Moreover, Larissa didn't seem willing to let Aster skip school unnecessarily.

Before Larissa could speak, he comforted Aster. "I'm already much better. You should go to kindergarten like a good boy. I will come over later in the evening to play games with you, okay?" Larissa hadn't considered letting Kevan stay over another night, but she couldn't bring herself to forbid him from coming over.

Aster hesitated. "Are you really better?" The worried look in his eyes appeared genuine.

Kevan brought his head closer to Aster and said, "Here, touch and see if I'm still having a fever?"

Aster did as Larissa always did for him and touched Kevan's forehead. After that, he compared it with his own temperature and concluded, "Yep, you're not burning up anymore."

"See! You don't need to be worried about me. Let's get up and go to kindergarten!" Kevan smiled with his eyes and pinched Aster's cheek affectionately.

"Alright." Although Aster's tone was reluctant, he wasn't as stubborn as before.

Before getting off the bed, he pounced on Kevan and planted a sloppy kiss on his cheek, leaving a noticeable mark of wetness behind.

Larissa was stunned momentarily when she saw this happen.

Aster's intimate actions had definitely overstepped one of Kevan's boundaries.

After Aster got off the bed, she quickly grabbed onto his shoulders and turned him around to face Kevan.

"Apologize to Uncle Kevan immediately!" Larissa ordered him sternly.

Both Aster and Kevan stared at Larissa in confusion and asked in unison, "Why is there a need to apologize?"

Larissa was taken aback by their question.

After a moment of hesitation, she asked Kevan, "Aren't you angry?"

Kevan met her eyes, looking even more puzzled, "Why would I be angry?"

Pointing at his cheek, Larissa said, "Aster gave you a kiss just now!"

Upon hearing this, Aster asked Kevan cautiously, "Uncle Kevan, don't you like it when I kiss you?"

Kevan denied it, "No, I really like it when you do that."

With a gentle smile, he extended his arms out toward Aster. "Come here."

Aster clambered back onto the bed and nestled into Kevan's embrace.

Hugging him, Kevan planted several kisses in a row on Aster's rosy cheek.

Encouraged by Kevan's affection, Aster giggled and smothered Kevan with wet kisses all over his face.

Larissa was greatly shocked by the change in Kevan. Staring blankly, she was speechless for a long while.

After they were done playing around, Kevan patted Aster's back and gestured toward Larissa. "Go and wash up now! Your mom has been waiting for a long time." "Okay!" Aster ran to the edge of the bed and hugged Larissa excitedly.

After giving her a kiss as well, he finally got off the bed and grabbed her hand. "Mommy, let's go!"
