Chapter 28-3

"He’s not going to eat, dear. He wants to stay with Scarlett until she’s perfectly okay and none of the maids can interfere in what he wants."

"What? He hasn’t had anything since yesterday. He’s going to break down if he doesn’t." I clamped my lips afterward, thinking of what to do until I had an idea.

Since no one could go to him, then I should.

I rose to my feet and picked out a plate, filling it with food, and began heading towards the room. No matter how much I wanted to mind my business, I just couldn’t and I was so worried about him.

As I got to the door, I heard giggling noises, but I heaved deeply and rasped a knock on the door before opening it,

When I stepped in, they both cocked their heads toward me, and Scarlett placed her hand on his thighs rubbing it while gazing at me,

"I brought food," I uttered, but Dexter arched his brows,

"Is it lunchtime? Damn, I forgot all about lunch for a moment." He uttered and tried to stand on his feet, but Scarlett held him back,

"You want to leave?"

"I should go eat. I’ll be back in an hour to check up on you, Scarlett." He responded and I smiled. A smile which became shortlived when Scarlett decided to act like a clingy child again,

"Look." She uttered, pointing at me, "Our dear Luna brought us food." She uttered and when Dexter turned his gaze at me again, Scarlett let out a smirk that only disappeared when he looked at her,

She leaned closer, and rested her head on his chest for a bit while I fluttered my brows, gripping the tray tightly,

"You should come have something really quick, Dexter. You haven’t had anything since yesterday and..."

"Please stay with me, Dexter, pretty please don’t leave me alone again. If you do, I’m scared I’m going to have a bad dream and I won’t wake up..." Scarlett interjected me as she pouted her lips at him while holding onto his left arm so tightly,

I tried not to let any emotions show as I stared at both of them, but jealousy burned deep inside of me and as I remained silent, I prayed that Dexter would choose to leave instead,

He turned his gaze to stare at me one more time, and then at Scarlett before he finally made his decision,

"I won’t be having lunch in the dining, Amelia. Thank you for the food." He uttered. As fast as I could, I dropped the tray on the small table in the room and found my way out of the room,

Once I was out, a tear slid down my eyes as I whimpered,

It hurts. It hurts so bad and I don’t know why.
