DEXTER:

"Where?" I questioned Daniel, and he took some steps closer to me,

"Some old couples recognized the photos of her younger self and said when she was pregnant, she would come to them for food and menial jobs to survive. She had no shelter so she was allowed to stay at the barns with their chickens for about 6 months. They had heard her mention she would go to the neighboring pack to look for her only family."

"Her only family? Who’s this only family?

It means there might be more than one member of Amelia’s family out there?"

Daniel nodded his head and continued,

"Yes, Alpha. According to the couple, her pushing me toward her room and once I stepped in, she shut the door behind me,

I stared at the pieces of paper around the room, and the ones that had been folded and tossed around on the floor,

"What’s all this?" I questioned, staring at the mess on the floor,

"I really need your help, Dexter." She responded,

"With what?" I questioned, and as Scarlett let go of my hand, I watched as she began to walk towards her bed,

"With these." She brought her book towards me,

"I have so much to say to my Father, Dexter, but I really don’t know where to start from. I want him to know that I’m happy and I’m being well taken care of. I want to write down how much I miss him and I want to tell him to rest that I’ll always love him for the rest of my life and..."

Tears had already begun to form at the base of her eyes and seeing this, I walked towards her and hugged her,

"It’s fine, Scarlett, that’s enough. I get everything you want to say to him and I’ll help you. I have a lot to say to him too. I wanna tell him I’m sorry for ruining your life...’

She broke the hug and stared at me,

"No Dexter, you didn’t ruin my life. More than anything in the world, I’m so happy my father was able to save the future Alpha king of the pack. It was worth risking his life for." She uttered before I hugged her again,

"It’s just a few days and I’m so nervous.

The Alpha king made a promise to my father that I would find a mate before I turned twenty, and it’s this year." Scarlett revealed and as I stared at her, I fluttered my brows,

"A....a mate?" I uttered and she nodded her head,

I had no idea why hearing this word made it feel like a little needle was going through my heart, but I was quick to smile,

"I guess he would want that for you. Come on, let’s get what you want ready." I uttered and she sat down on the bed while I sat down close to her,

"Here. Check this out. What do you think about it."
