The Alpha King's Rebellious Queen -
The Alpha King’s Rebellious Queen Chapter 105
Jemma’s POV
I sat in the office with Cassius for several hours. We worked our way through emails and phone calls as a team like we often did. I looked at the clock and realized it was nearly lunchtime. I had been munching on beef jerky but was still feeling hungry. My phone chimed, and I looked at it, seeing a text from Tiffany. I had been thinking of her most of the day. I was wondering if her mate was being good to her. Even though the meeting we had this morning helped alleviate some of my anxiety about him.
Tiffany: Can we talk?
Me: Is everything okay?
Tiffany: Yeah. I just need to talk to my big sister.
Me: Garret is behaving himself?
Tiffany: Yes. I just need to talk. Please.
Me: Let’s meet for lunch.
Tiffany: We can have a picnic behind the dorms. There is a nice grassy area. We can get food from the cafeteria.
Me: Okay. I’ll meet you in about ten minutes in front of the dorm. Kay?
Tiffany: Thanks Jem.
I set my phone down and looked over at Cassius. “Cass, would it be alright if I have lunch with Tiffany?”
He turned his blue eyes on me. “Is everything alright with her?”
“I think so. She needs a big sister talk.”
A slight smile crept onto his face. “It’s alright, love.” He clasped my hand. “I’ll see if Deke wants to have lunch with me. He’s wigging out over Audrey.”
“Audrey still hasn’t popped yet?”
He shook his head. “Not yet. That little girl is as stubborn as her father.” He laughed.
“Deke doesn’t come off as stubborn, though,” I chuckled.
Cassius rolled his eyes. “That’s because you haven’t spent most of your life with the bastard.”
I leaned over and lightly kissed his lips. “I think we should have a special dinner for Tiffany and Garret tonight and our parents. You know to celebrate two families coming together.”
“I like that idea,” Cassius replied. “I’ll set it up. Do you think everyone will like steaks?”
I snorted. “Are we f*****g werewolves or not?” I kissed him again as he laughed. Then I got up from my seat and left the office. I waddled my way to the dorms slowly. By the time I saw my sister, I was feeling winded, and my feet hurt.
“Jemma! Are you alright?” Tiffany asked with concern.
I nodded. “Yes, walking any sort of distance takes a lot out of me.”
Her shoulders fell. “I am sorry. I shouldn’t have asked you to walk this far.”
I placed my hand on her arm. “It’s alright, Tiff.” I was still huffing and puffing. “Just give me a moment to catch my breath,” I said while sitting on a bench. My sister sat beside me.
“I feel bad now.”
“Tiff quit,” I said with mild irritation. “I need the exercise.” I held my belly as I was kicked by one twin and then the other. “So, where is your mate?”
“Oh, we talked for a while, and then he said he wanted to apologize to Iain. So we walked over to alpha training. After Garret apologized, he and Iain hit it off and then left me for alpha classes.”
I laughed. “That sounds like Iain. Well, what did you want to talk to me about?” I asked her as my stomach growled.
“Let’s get some food first. I don’t want you to starve.” She helped me to my feet, and we walked into the dorm towards the cafeteria. We got in line, and I drooled, looking at all of the food.
I decided to get a giant burrito and some beans and rice. “Oh man, this looks awesome,” I said to the omega serving the food. “Of course, everything looks awesome to me right now.” The omega bowed and laughed. Tiffany got a salad and some fruit. “Thank you for making me look like a pig, Tiff.”
“I’m not the pregnant one,” She said as we walked out of the cafeteria and towards the spot she picked out. She sat on the ground easily, and I just stared at the grass. I handed her my food and then eased myself down onto the ground.
My large belly made it hard to get a good position. “I am so going to regret this.”
“I’ll help you up, Jemma.” She said as we dug into our food. “So, I wanted to talk to you about being mated.”
“Like what exactly?”
She took a couple of bites of her salad while pondering. “How long should you wait before letting your mate mark your and well mate you?”
“That’s entirely up to you, Tiff. Some mark and mate right away. Some wait. It was nearly two weeks before I let Cassius mark me. But that was only because I was angry with him for separating me from Nicky.”
“Yeah, I remember that. Poor Nicky cried for hours when you left. Jeremy-” She paused and looked at her salad. “Anyways.”
“Is Garret pressuring you to mark you right away?”
She shook her head. “No, but he wants to mark me before we go back to his pack.”
“When is he going back?”
“A few weeks. He wants to finish alpha classes, and I want to finish luna classes. But I want to be marked right away. I don’t like how the other females stare at him. I want them to know who he belongs to.”
I laughed at that. “He is quite pleasant to look at. Females are going to stare. Let them stare. Most of the females around here stare at Cassius. I try not to get overly jealous, or I would be angry all of the time.”
Tiffany sighed and set her food down. “Does mating hurt?”
“Well, if it’s your first time, it will. But if your mate knows what he is doing, the pain won’t last. Just like being marked hurts and then turns into pleasure.” I shifted on the ground as my legs were getting numb. The twins started kicking like crazy. Then it felt like hands and feet were everywhere. “What the hell is wrong with you two?” I said, looking at my belly.
“What’s wrong?”
“I think they are fighting in there,” I said while wincing from the pain. “I so cannot wait till they are out of me. So over this shit.”
She laughed. “Well, at least you aren’t stuck in bed like you were with Nicky.”
I took a deep breath. “Well, there is that.”
“I sort of want pups with Garret right away. I don’t know why but I feel like I need to.” She explained.
“Well, it’s up to you guys. I wanted to wait a couple of years. But the law that says Cassius needs to have an heir before his twenty-fifth birthday meant I had to get pregnant right away. I totally love my pups. But I wish we could have waited.”
She sighed. “Life is so complicated, isn’t it.”
“So, you are accepting Garret as your mate?”
She smiled and looked towards the dorm with a dreamy look on her face. “We had a good talk, and I have found myself already falling for him. His scent is so intoxicating like cookies.”
“That’s what he smells like?”
She nodded. “Chocolate chip cookies. What does Cassius smell like?”
“An a*s.” I snorted, and my sister rolled her eyes. “He smells like lavender and vanilla.” I set my empty plate down and leaned back on my hands. “This is a nice spot.”
“Isn’t it, though.”
“So, Cassius and I are setting up a special dinner to celebrate you and Garret tonight. Our families are all invited, of course. And feel free to invite your friends if you want.”
She leaned over and hugged me. “Thank you, Jemma. You are the best big sister.”
I reached my arm over to hug her back, but I ended up falling onto my back. I started struggling to get up. “s**t. Tiff, I need your help.”
She started laughing as she grabbed my arms and tried pulling me up. “You have to give a little Jem.”
I whimpered as I flailed my arms and legs, trying to get up, but my huge belly was making it hard, and I felt my strength waning.
Tiffany ended up falling beside me. She looked up at someone. “Can you help me get my sister up?” She asked as a pair of strong arms reached down and picked me up off the ground. I stumbled slightly as I was set on the ground. The arms caught me, and I looked into a pair of reddish-brown eyes.
“Thank you, Garret,” I said to my sister’s mate as I backed away from him.
He nodded at me and then smiled at my sister. “I missed you.”
She blushed at him. “I missed you too.”
He leaned down and kissed Tiffany’s cheek before training his red eyes on me. “I would like to speak with you, your majesty.”
“Dude, seriously. You are my sister’s mate. Call me Jemma.”
He nodded. “Jemma. Lovely name.” He gestured to a picnic table a few feet away. “Let us sit and talk.”
“Oh, goody,” I mumbled as we walked over to the table. I sat on one side while Garret and Tiffany took up the other side.
“Okay, I have a confession. I lied to you this morning,” He started, and I lifted an eyebrow at him. He held up a hand. “Let me talk. I lied when I said that my wolf was in complete control yesterday. He was only partially in control. Some of the things I said and did were my own words and not Cortez’s.”
His explanation made Leonora growl in my head. ‘Calm down,’ I told her. ‘Let’s hear him out.’
“So you were in control when you hit me?”
He shook his head. “Oh no, at that point, Cortez was at the helm. I am talking about what happened in the game room. I saw your brother with Tiffany in his arms, and I went crazy seeing another male touching my mate. I had no way of knowing he was your brother. So when you both kept fighting with me, it made me angrier and angrier.”
“I did see your eyes flashing.”
” I did not mean to call you a b***h or to disrespect you. It’s just I have waited a long time to find my mate, and when I finally see her, I was not allowed to get near her. I lost it. And I want to apologize for that. That is not the kind of man I am. I do not believe in hitting females unless I am fighting them.”
“That’s good to hear, Garret. And I accept your apology.”
“I admire how protective you are of your sister even though you are heavily pregnant. Family is everything to me.”
“It’s everything to me also. So when my sister is trembling behind me, scared out of her mind, it drives me to want to kill the one causing her to be scared.”
Garret looked at Tiffany with a sad expression. “I never wanted to cause her to fear me like that.”
“I didn’t want what happened to Cassius’s sister to happen to my sister.”
“What happened to the king’s sister?”
“She was badly abused by her mate. He nearly killed her when they found out that their first pup was a girl.”
Garret cringed. “I am sorry to hear that. I couldn’t imagine hurting Tiffany ever. And I would not get mad if our first pup was a girl. Hell, we could have a hundred girls, and I would be happy,” He said while looking at Tiffany with nothing but love in his eyes.
My sister blushed. “Well, maybe not a hundred.” She giggled.
“Garret, Cassius, and I planned a special dinner tonight to celebrate you and Tiffany.”
He smiled. “That is very generous of you. I really wish my mother was here to meet Tiffany.” He said sadly. “She passed away ten years ago in a car crash. My younger brothers were with her, and they survived, but she didn’t. Though my youngest brother Devin is still sort of messed up.”
“I am sorry to hear that. I couldn’t imagine losing my mother.” The breeze picked up, and I caught the scent of lavender and vanilla. I then noticed everyone scattered around us bowing. I turned to see my handsome mate walking towards us. He was still in his blue suit and looked like a dream as he stalked towards us.
Garret stood up from the table and bowed.
Cassius snorted. “No need for that, Garret. You are family now.”
“Sorry, your majesty.” He said while sitting down.
“And it’s Cassius or Cass to you.” My mate leaned down to k**s the top of my head. “How are you love? Did you eat?”
“Are you kidding me? She ate half the food in the cafeteria,” Tiffany giggled.
“Shut up, Tiff.” I snarled at my sister.
“I was just joking, Jem.” She countered.
“That was not a joke. It was a low blow.” I glared at her.
Her blue eyes narrowed at me. “Are you having a mood swing?”
“No!” I yelped.
“Cause it sounds like a mood swing.” Tiffany rolled her eyes.
“Shut the f**k up.” I stood up from the table and looked at Cassius. He and Garret were exchanging awkward looks. I sighed and buried my face in Cassius’s chest as tears rolled down my cheeks. Sparks flowed through my body as he stroked my back.
“Love, do you need a nap?”
I looked up at him. “No, “I sniffled.
“Sounds like you need a nap.”
“I am not a toddler, Cassius.”
He shrugged and looked at Garret and Tiffany. “The queen needs a nap,” He said quietly to them.
I scoffed and threw up my hands. “A*****e,” I snarled and started to walk away with tears streaming down my cheeks.
“Jemma,” Cassius called to me, but I ignored him.
I almost made it a few feet before I felt terrible, so I turned and walked back towards my mate. I buried my face in his chest again and started sobbing. “I am so sorry.”
He laughed softly and stroked my back. “I know, love.”
I looked over at my sister and Garret through my tears. Garret was looking at me with wide eyes while Tiffany was smirking at him.
“I bet you can’t wait to get Tiffany pregnant, huh?” Cassius said to Garret.
“We can wait,” He squeaked out and glanced at my sister.
I sniffled and looked at Tiffany. “I’m sorry, Tiff.”
She shrugged. “Whatever, Jemma. I know you didn’t mean it.” She stood up from the table. “We are going to go hang out in the game room. Want to come?”
“Yeah, I want to actually to enjoy it,” Garret chuckled.
I shook my head. “No, Cassius is right. I need a nap.”
They both laughed. Tiffany walked over to me, and we hugged. I then hugged Garret and held him tight for a moment. “If you ever hurt my sister, I will f*****g kill you,” I whispered in his ear before releasing him.
He gave me a pointed look as his eyes flashed from red to black. “Understood.”
Tiffany narrowed her eyes at me and then looked at Garret. “What did she say to you?”
“The same thing your father and brother told me.” He smiled and grabbed her hand. “We’ll see you later.”
“Dinner will be around six,” Cassius said to him as they walked away. He then looked at me. “Let’s get you some rest, my love.” He wrapped his arms around me, and we walked towards the palace. I got tired halfway, so I let him carry me, and I fell asleep in his arms.
