The Alpha King's Rebellious Queen -
The Alpha King’s Rebellious Queen Chapter 106
Cassius’s POV
Jemma snored softly in my arms as I carried her towards the palace. After we walked away from Tiffany and her mate, Jemma got tired, and I picked her up bridal style. She fell asleep almost immediately. Her head was cradled against my shoulder. Palace guards bowed and opened the door for me as I entered. As I headed towards the elevators, I met up with my father, Jemma’s father, and Alpha Peterson. They were all laughing and appeared intoxicated.
“Hey, son,” My father stumbled towards me.
“What did you do to my daughter?” Phil slurred at me.
I shook my head. “She’s just tired, Phil.”
Jemma let out a snore and shifted.
“She’s kind of cute when she’s asleep,” My father laughed.
Phil slapped my father’s shoulder. “Shut up, Terry. Jemma is always cute,” He looked at me. “Right, Cass?”
I just nodded. “Yeah.” I could smell the booze on their breath. I was a little surprised Alpha Peterson was also drunk and leaning on my father. “You let these two clods get you drunk?”
“We didn’t do anything to him he didn’t want, son,” My father laughed and belched.
“I normally don’t drink this much, but if these two aren’t the funniest dudes I have ever hung out with,” Peterson patted my father’s shoulder.
I rolled my eyes. “Okay, well, Jemma and I planned a nice little family dinner to celebrate Tiffany and Garret, so I hope you idiots sober up before then.”
“That is nice of you, Cassius,” Alpha Peterson said to me.
Jemma shifted in my arms again and m****d my name. Her eyes fluttered open for a second before closing. “If you’ll excuse me. I need to put my mate to bed.”
“Try not to drop her, Cass,” Phil said to me.
“Dinner is at six,” I told them before walking off, shaking my head. “Idiots,” I muttered. I stopped at the elevator and pushed the button to wait. My arms were getting a little tired from holding my pregnant mate. The doors opened, and my mother and Jemma’s mother walked out.
“Hey, Cassy,” My mother said to me as she smiled at my sleeping mate.
Melinda stepped forward and stroke Jemma’s cheek. “Oh, my sleepy girl.”
“Yeah, I suppose lunch with Tiffany wore her out.” I laughed softly.
My mother stepped forward. “Have you seen your father?”
I snorted. “Yeah, he was stumbling around drunk off his a*s with Phil and Michael Peterson.”
A low growl came out of my mother. “Our mates are idiots, Melinda.”
“Did you see what direction they went?” Melinda asked me.
“No, but if you followed the stench of booze and bad decisions, I’m sure you’ll find them.”
My mother rolled her eyes and grabbed Melinda’s arm. “Let’s go kick their dumb asses.”
Melinda laughed. “Take care of my girl, Cass.”
“You know I always will,” I winked at her. They started to walk away. “Oh, special dinner tonight at six,” I called to them.
“We’ll be there,” Melinda replied and then trotted after my mother.
The elevator door opened, and I walked in. Sighing, I leaned against the wall with my sleeping mate. Relief flooded me as the door opened moments later. I rushed down the hall to our room. I gently set her on the bed and managed to take her dress off, leaving her in just panties and a bra. I looked at her stomach and saw a handprint. Then I could see the twins moving around inside of her. I put my hand on her belly and relished the feel of my pups moving around. I lowered my face and kissed the soft skin of her stomach. “I can’t wait to meet you two finally,” I whispered. I kissed Jemma’s soft lips and stood up. I decided to go and get Nick from his grandmother and spend some time with him before dinner.
I sat in my son’s room playing cars with him and listening to Disney music for a few hours. As it was nearing dinner time, I looked at him. “Hey Nick, are you ready for dinner?”
“Food!” He squealed at me and hopped up, and ran for the door.
I laughed and followed him. “Let’s go see if Mommy is awake first.”
We walked across the hall to my room. Nick walked over to the bed. He peered over the side at his sleeping mother. “Mommy is sleeping.”
I picked him up and set him on the bed. “Why don’t you wake her up?”
He quietly crawled across the bed and lay beside her on the bed, and caressed her cheek with his little hand. “Mommy,” He loudly whispered, and Jemma stirred. “Mommy,” He said a little louder, and I watched as Jemma’s eyes slowly opened.
“Nicky, Hi Nicky.” She smiled at him.
He leaned over and kissed her cheek. “Daddy told me to wake you up.”
She sighed. “Did he now?” She yawned and slowly sat up. Her hand held her belly, and she looked at me. “How long was I out?”
“A few hours,” I replied and sat on the bed. Nick was sitting next to her, touching her bare belly. He giggled when one of the twins kicked. I saw the movement, and Jemma cringed.
“I’m hungry,” She said to me.
“Well, it’s almost dinner time. Let’s get you dressed and ready.” I said to her and helped her off of the bed. Nick hopped off the bed and ran over to the couch. He picked up the remote and turned on the tv, and found his cartoons. Only three years old, and he knew how to work the tv like it was nothing.
Jemma looked through her clothes in the closet. She yawned again. “What should I wear?” She mumbled. I stood beside her and pulled a fancier maternity dress from the rack. It was a deep burgundy color. It was low cut in the front and backless.
“I like this one.”
She shrugged and gently took it from my hand. I sat on one of the chairs in the closet and watched her get dressed. “Is that what you are going to wear?”
I was wearing a white dress shirt and slacks. “Sure, or do you think I should change into something else?”
“Well, you have dirt on your pants, and they are a little wrinkled,” She explained.
“I guess I’ll change my pants.” I pulled out a pair of dark blue jeans, and I decided to put on a black shirt.
“Cass, I need help with my shoe,” She said to me. Her violet eyes pleading with me.
“One second, love,” I replied as I finished buttoning my shirt. I walked over and put on her shoes for her. Then I zipped up her dress for her also. ” That looks gorgeous on you,” I said as she brushed her long blonde hair.
She smiled and wrapped her arms around me. “You look gorgeous yourself.”
I leaned down and kissed her on the lips. She m****d as we deepened the k**s. I started running my hand down her body when we heard a giggle. Nick was standing in the doorway of the closet, watching us. “What are you doing, Nick?”
“I’m hungry, Daddy.” He replied and ran over to us. I picked him up.
“Well, then let’s go get you some food.”
Nick looked at Jemma. “You look pretty, Mommy.”
She tickled his tummy, and he giggled. “Thank you, Nicky.”
We walked out of the room together. We had to go slow as Jemma was having trouble walking fast or much at all. She was panting out of breath by the time we made it to the dining room. Our families were waiting as we approached. Melinda stepped forward.
“Oh Jemma, you look exhausted.”
She shrugged. “Walking exhausts me.” She breathed out as her mother put her arm around her shoulders.
“Perhaps you should go on bed rest until the twins are born.”
“Mom, you know how much I hate that,” Jemma nearly snarled.
My mother stepped towards them. “Dear, your mother is right. It’s not doing any of you any good to be exhausted all of the time.”
I walked a few feet away while they discussed pregnancy stuff. I set Nick down. My father was with Jemma’s father and Alpha Peterson. They appeared to have sobered up a bit. “It’s nice of you three to be sober.”
My father snorted. “Your mother reemed my a*s about it.”
I laughed. “I bet she did, Dad.”
“She’s a fiesty one, that Isabelle,” Michael chimed in.
“You have no idea, Mike,” My father snorted.
The doors of the dining room opened, and the chef bowed to us. “Dinner is ready, your majesty.”
“Thank you, chef,” I said to him and looked at the family. My parents, Jemma’s parents, and her sister, and finally Alpha Peterson and his son were all here. I wished that Ainsley was here. I missed my little sister, but she was off traveling with her vampire fiancee. We all walked into the dining room. It was the smaller one we generally used for family gatherings. The food was set up buffet style. There were big steaks, BBQ ribs, and grilled chicken with lots of veggies and other sides. “So where are Iain and Esther?” I asked Melinda.
“Oh, they chose to spend some time alone rather than come tonight,” She replied.
I watched as Jemma made a plate up for Nick, and then she piled on food for herself.
“This is a nice spread, Cassius,” Garret said as he cut into a steak.
“My chef and his staff are good at what they do.”
Garret’s father looked over at me. “So, Terry tells me you guys treat omegas like people too.”
“Why not? They are the legs we stand on, right, Dad?”
My father nodded. “Right, son. I hated hearing how some packs treated omegas like slaves and abused them. That’s why I implemented a kingdom law that omegas had to be treated justly with salaries and schedules.”
“I agree with that. The omegas in my pack are treated well also. I know some packs still lack in that area,” Michael responded.
“That is why I send regularly send out inspectors to every allied pack to make sure they are following the rules of the kingdom. Alphas are allowed to run their packs as they see fit, but I will not tolerate abuse or unnecessary punishments,” I explained. “I know we are werewolves, but that doesn’t mean we should live like savages.”
“I wholly agree with that,” Michael nodded at me.
“Alpha Michael,” Tiffany started to say to him.
He smiled at her. “Tiffany, you are my son’s mate and future luna of my pack. Please call me Mike.”
Garret clasped her hand, and she cleared her throat. “I want to train. I am not the fighter that my sister is, but I want to learn more.”
“Of course you can train. I honestly have no idea where the rumor that we treat females like s**t came from,” Michael glanced at Phil, who shrugged his shoulders. “But that couldn’t be further from the truth. The truth is we are a highly disciplined pack. Training takes up a lot of our time as I want my warriors to be at an elite level. We do have our fun, but I maintain a disciplined atmosphere. Some may call that military-like.”
Tiffany nodded as he spoke. “That may take time for me to get used to.”
“Tiffany, dear. We aren’t asking you to change who you are,” Garret smiled at her.
“I know, but I also don’t want to disappoint your pack if I don’t measure up as their luna,” Tiffany said to him.
“Tiffany, you will be a great luna,” Melinda chimed in. “You have always been diligent in learning from me about being a good luna. You don’t cuss and try to beat up everyone,” Melinda glanced briefly at Jemma.
“What the hell, Mom?” Jemma nearly yelled at her mother.
“See what I mean,” Melinda chuckled at Tiffany.
We chatted some more among the families while we ate. Suddenly, there was a flash of light, almost like lighting, and Tuatha, the wizard, appeared in the room. We all jumped as he stepped forward, wearing his usual black cloak.
“Oh hey everyone, sorry to drop in like this.” He mumbled and looked at me. He bowed.
“Tuatha, to what do we owe this sudden appearance?” I asked him with a hint of danger.
He shrugged and stepped towards the table, and picked up a piece of bread. He nodded at Michael. “Hey Mike, good to see you again.”
“Tuatha,” The alpha responded.
“You two know each other?” I asked.
Tuatha shrugged. “His mate was a half-witch and my granddaughter.”
My mouth fell open at that revelation.
“You are part witch?” Tiffany asked her mate.
Garret shrugged. “I suppose but I don’t have a magical bone in my body.”
Tuatha snorted. “That is where you are wrong, son. But we will discuss that later.” The wizard turned to me. “I have come to you because of a vision I just had. A great war is going to happen. Not until your children are all of age. The demons are rising, and your children will be the keys to defeating them. I suspected it was big when I heard a white wolf was mated to a red wolf.”
“But I am not a white wolf. My sister is,” Tiffany interrupted Tuatha.
“My dear, you are still of the white wolf line. At least one of your children will be a white wolf. And one will be a red wolf. The powers of both lines will be combined in your children. They will stand by their cousins to fight the demons.”
Everyone’s eyes widened as the wizard spoke. “And you are sure of all of this?” I asked him.
“Cassius, Tuatha has never been wrong,” My father interjected.
Tuatha shrugged. “I have been a little wrong, Terrance. Rather fate isn’t always written in stone. It can be changed. But most visions I get are the truth.”
Everyone was quiet as he spoke. The food was momentarily forgotten.
“Sorry to rain on your little celebration,” The wizard said to us. He looked at Jemma and me. “I shall take my leave now. But before I go. You are about to meet your daughter’s mate.”
Jemma narrowed her eyes at him. “My daughter hasn’t even been born yet. How can we meet her, mate?”
“Trust me, your majesty. You will meet him soon. He is still a child himself and not what you will expect.” The wizard said and sauntered over to the food. “Mind if I take a rib?”
“Uh, go ahead,” I responded quietly.
He picked up a rib and started nibbling it. “I will see you all soon. Goodnight,” And with that, he disappeared.
Everyone remained quiet for a few moments before the shock wore off. “So, who’s up for a family game night?” My mother chimed in.
We all looked at her. “That sounds fun, Izzy,” Melinda replied.
“I need some f*****g whiskey,” My father mumbled out.
“Terrance! Language! There is a pup present,” My mother barked at him.
My father rolled his eyes at her.
I laughed as we all started chattering again. “Well, that was certainly interesting,” I spoke.
“Who do you think our daughter’s mate is?” Jemma asked me why rubbing her belly.
“I don’t know, love.”
She shook her head. “And the demons are rising? What’s up with that?”
“Every thousand years or so, when the planets align, and the veil between the Underworld and this world is thin, the demons rise and try to take over this world,” Michael explained. “It would explain my son being mated to Tiffany. The red and white wolf lines have never mixed before.”
“Really?” Tiffany asked him.
“The special breeds of wolves do not normally mix, Tiffany,” Phil told her. “There isn’t just white and red wolves with special abilities. There are golden, silver, green, blue, and a few others,” He explained. “Or so that’s what my mother told me once.”
I was surprised to hear Phil talk about his mother. He rarely ever spoke about her even though she was a famous figure in the kingdom.
“Our pack uses some of the techniques your mother developed for combat, Phil,” Michael said to him. “She was a great warrior.”
Phil looked at his plate, “Yeah, that is the general consensus in the kingdom.” Melinda clasped his hand and looked at the other alpha.
“My mate still has a hard time talking about his parents,” She explained.
“I’m sorry, Melinda. I understand. Discussing my deceased mate is still a sore subject for me.” Michael said sadly. “But I wish she was here so she could meet Tiffany. Teresa would have loved her.”
“Really? You think so?” Tiffany asked him happily.
Michael smiled at her. “Yes, right, Garret?”
“Right, Dad.” Garret grabbed Tiffany’s hand and kissed it.
Jemma was smiling as Tiffany, and her mate showed affection to each other. She pushed her plate away and leaned back in her seat, and belched loudly. Everyone looked at her, and she blushed. My Jemma blushed. “Oops, sorry.”
The others all broke into laughter. “There’s my Jemma,” Phil chuckled.
We finished our meal and ate some dessert before going into a sitting room where we played a few games for a few hours. Jemma got cranky and tired. So I had to excuse myself to take her and Nick to bed.
Jemma looked up at me while I tucked her in. “Cassius, I am afraid.”
I sat beside her on the bed. “I don’t believe that. You are never afraid.”
She reached out and grabbed my hand. “I am afraid for the future. Our children have to fight demons, and I am afraid-” She trailed off as tears fell down her cheeks.
“Jemma, look at me.” I ran my hand down her cheek. She looked up at me. “Our children will be fierce warriors because you are their mother. They will not cower in the face of danger. I know it’s hard to think of them fighting a war where that they may not make it,” She sniffled, and I squeezed her hand. “We have to have faith that their future will work out. The Goddess knows what she is doing.”
Jemma nodded. I leaned down and kissed her softly on the lips. “I love you, Cassius.”
“I love you too, Jemma. Now sleep tight. You need your rest, my love.”
Her violet eyes closed as she snuggled into the bed, and in no time, she was fast asleep. I watched her for a few moments before I decided to take a run in the woods. Enoch hadn’t been out for a while. I stripped out of my clothes and opened the sliding door to the balcony, where I shifted. Enoch shook out his black fur. ‘Have at it, buddy,’ I said to him before yielding control to him. He leaped over the balcony railing and landed on the ground. He then took off into the woods.
