The Alpha King's Rebellious Queen
The Alpha King’s Rebellious Queen Chapter 107

Jemma’s POV

“Seriously, I don’t care,” I said with annoyance to my mother and Izzy as they argued over details for my baby shower. We were all sitting in Izzy’s craft room. She and my mother were planning a baby shower for me. I was sitting a few feet from them as I knitted a blanket for my twins. Ainsley and Tiffany were painting letters for the twins’ nursery as my mother and Izzy argued over the shower’s details. It was over something stupid, and I was getting irritated. Thought these days everything irritated.

It has been a week since my sister found her mate. I am primarily on bed rest now. I spend most of my time in the bedroom as I cannot walk very far without becoming a winded mess. My feet are swollen and painful, which adds to my inability to walk. Luckily, Izzy’s craft room is down the hall from my room, so it’s not a long walk.

Ainsley had returned from her trip with Titus. She was now sporting a tiny bump. I was surprised at how well everyone got along with Titus. The vampire integrated into the family like he was a wolf. Even Garret got along with him even though his pack had a contentious past with vampires. Titus assured my sister’s mate that the vampires under Romulus’s rule were not the ones that hunted red wolves to the brink of extinction.

Tiffany held up one of the letters she was painting. “Is this alright, Jemma?” It was a big D for Daisy. She had painted it a light lavender color that was almost pink. I had decided I wanted pastel colors for the twins’ nursery. I hadn’t wanted pink for my daughter, but the color my sister had used was rather lovely.

“I like that, Tiff. You know I don’t normally like pink, but I think that works.”

She smiled and set the letter down. “You sure have changed, Jemma.” She mused.

“Have I really?”

Tiffany shrugged her shoulders. “Like you aren’t a totally different person. But months ago, if I had shown you this pink letter, you would have ripped me a new one.”

I frowned and felt tears welling up in my eyes. “Was I really that bad?”

My mother stopped arguing with Izzy momentarily and saw the tears in my eyes. “Jemma, I don’t think your sister meant it negatively. But for a long time, it seemed you were trying too hard to show us how much of a rebel you were. However, I think Nicky helped to tame you a little. But you are still our Jemma, just a little more grown-up.” She explained to me.

“That’s what I meant. Thanks, Mom,” Tiffany smiled at her. “I didn’t mean to make you cry, sis.”

I took a deep breath and wiped a stray tear off my cheek. “Everything makes me cry, Tiff. The stupid toilet paper bear commercial makes me cry.”

They all laughed at that.

“I mean, I guess I have changed. I still want to wear nothing but black and my band shirts and go to concerts. I still want to train to be the best warrior I can. But I have also started to enjoy wearing dresses and even makeup.”

My mother and sister’s jaws dropped. “Y-you enjoy dresses?” My mother said with a chuckle. “Hallelujah!” She raised her hands in the air.

I rolled my eyes and went back to knitting. My mother and Izzy went back to arguing over shower details. “I don’t care what you have at the shower, just no pop music.”

They both looked at me. “Jemma, we are not playing Slayer at your shower,” My mother said to me.

“I will settle for oldies.”

Izzy snorted. “I think she means music from our time, Melinda.”

“That’s exactly what she means, Izz.” My mother said as she and Izzy laughed. “Fine, we’ll play oldies. Any other requests?”

I shrugged. “I honestly don’t know.”

“Well, let us worry about it, dear.” Izzy smiled at me. She immediately went back to arguing with my mother. “No grandchild of mine-“

I tuned them out and concentrated on the blanket. It was a pastel mint color for Malcolm. I had finished a pastel peach one for Daisy.

Ainsley leaned towards me. “I have never seen our moms fight like that before.”

I glanced at my mother and Izzy as their argument got heated. “I’ll get my mom, and you get yours.” She nodded, and I struggled to get off the chair I was sitting on. I tapped my mother on the shoulder while Ainsley went over to her mother. “How about we take a break for lunch?” I suggest. It was a bit early, but I was already starving.

Izzy snorted. “I think that may be best. Then I could go back to convincing Melinda that finger sandwiches would be better than BBQ at the shower.”

Ainsley and I rolled our eyes. “What is wrong with BBQ, Izzy?” My mom almost shouted at her.

“It’s messy, Melinda.” Izzy retorted.

“Okay, let’s order lunch,” I interjected.

“Fine,” Izzy folded her arms. “We can eat in my suite.”

We all moved into Izzy and Terry’s suite and ordered lunch. I opted for some chicken carbonara pasta. Everyone else ordered sandwiches and salads. We mainly ate in silence when the food arrived. My mother and Izzy kept glaring at each other. They had always been good friends, but for some reason, the shower was bringing out hostility between the two.

“So, how about we do finger foods for the shower. Like chicken nuggets, tater tots, and stuff like that.” I suggested.

They both looked at me. “We aren’t children, Jemma.” My mother snarled.

I shrugged. “But we are celebrating my children, are we not? It’s the coming together of two families that have been allied for centuries. Finger foods are fun and not messy. We can have a few BBQ-like entrees along with the little sandwiches.”

Izzy glanced at my mother, and they were silent for a moment. “You know, Jemma is right, Melinda.” She began to list off finger foods to include, and my mother was agreeing.

“That was a good save, Jemma,” Ainsley said to me.

“I think they are having trouble coming to terms with have to share their grandpups.” I laughed.

“Good thing my mom gets Gracie all to herself,” Ainsley giggled.

Our mothers looked over at us. “We can share the babies just fine,” Izzy snorted.

I rolled my eyes, and she growled.

“Jemma, don’t disrespect Izzy like that.” My mother scolded me.

I looked at Ainsley and Tiffany, and we bust out laughing. Our mothers just glared at us.

“I can’t wait to get pregnant,” Tiffany declared. “Garret and I have been mating like crazy.”

“I did not need to know that, Tiff,” I said to her.

She shrugged. “Like I haven’t heard you mating with Cassius, and you are quite the screamer.”

“Tiffany!” I barked and threw a breadstick at her. It smacked her in the forehead.

She rubbed the spot and growled while picking up a potato chip and throwing it at me. I landed on my cheek.

“b***h!” I was prepared to throw sauce-covered noodles at her when our mother stepped in between us.

“Girls! I can’t believe the Queen and a future luna are fighting like children.” She scolded us.

“Tiffany started it,” I mumbled.

“I don’t care you started it.”

I sighed. “Whatever.’

My mother waggled a finger at me. “Do not whatever me, Jemma Skye. You may be the Queen of werewolves, but I am still your mother. You will not disrespect me. Now apologize.” She glared at me with her hands on her h**s.

“Sorry, Mom,” I mumbled.

“That’s better. Now hug you, sister.”

I looked at Tiffany and smiled slightly. I tried getting off the couch I was sitting on, but it was proving difficult. Tiffany sighed and walked over to me, and we hugged. Then she sat down beside me. “Want to go to luna class with me?” She asked me.

I shook my head. “I can’t walk that far.”

“I’ll go with you, Tiff,” Ainsley interjected. “I may not be a luna, but I could learn a few things.” She looked at Izzy. “Do you think I’ll be allowed to attend, Mom?”

“Of course you will. If Sarah gives you trouble, then mind linked me, and I’ll come and set her straight.

“Thanks, Mom,” Ainsley said to Izzy. She looked at Tiffany. “So is it okay if I join you?”

Tiffany nodded. She and Ainsley had become fast friends even after Tiffany asked Titus about the sparkling thing.

We finished our lunch quickly. Ainsley and Tiffany went to luna class. My mother and Izzy went back to planning the baby shower, and I opted to take a nap. I was waddling slowly back to my room when I became a little winded and propped myself against the walls. Moments later, his scent filled my senses as he picked me up bridal style. I looked up into his ocean blue eyes. “My hero.” I smiled at him.

“Always, love.” He smiled back at me and placed a soft k**s on my forehead. He carried me into our room and set me on the bed. He sat beside me. “Good news. Audrey gave birth to a healthy baby girl. I was just at the hospital visiting them. She is a beautiful baby,” He explained.

“Oh, that’s wonderful. I wish I could go visit them,” I said, happy for Deke. Though I didn’t spend much time with the royal beta, I had become good friends with him and his mate.

“Audrey said when she is well enough, she may bring Laila up to visit you.” He smiled at me.

“Laila. I like that name.”

Cassius smiled. “Daisy is better, though.” He winked at me. “So, how is the shower planning going?”

I chuckled. “Okay, except for the few times our moms were ready to fight each other over small details.”

“Wow, they always got along so well.” He snorted. He kissed my forehead again. “I have to get back to work. But I just needed to see you even if for a minute.” He traced the back of his hand down my cheek and then leaned down to k**s my belly. The twins began to kick. “Hey, pups.”

I ran my hand through his slicked-back hair, messing it up as he spoke to my belly. “They already love you so much, Cass.”

He looked up at me. “They will only ever know my love for them.” He kissed my belly one more time before kissing up my body and landing on my lips. Our k**s deepened as I allowed his tongue to explore my mouth. I felt the heat rising, and I wanted more, but it was too painful.

I sighed sadly when he finally broke the k**s. I saw the growing bulge in his pants. “Oh, no wonder you had to stop.”

He laughed. “Yeah, I would have been at the point of no return.”

“I could help you with that. My mouth still works.” I reached up to unbuckle his belt. He put his hand on my mine.

“It’s alright, love. I really do have to get back to work.” He stepped back from me.

I frowned and folded my arms across my chest.

“Get some rest, love. I’ll be back in a few hours with Nick. We’ll order some burgers for dinner.” He kissed me on the forehead. “I love you.”

I smiled slightly at him. “Yeah, I love you too,” I mumbled. He laughed and then walked out of the room. I stood up and took off my dress, and decided to sleep in only a bra and panties. It didn’t take long for me to fall asleep.
