The Alpha Weredragon's Favorite
CHAPTER 106 – Two at Once

Ryan

Front and center in the clearing, the two she-wolves stood, ready for battle. Their fur glinted in the emerging sunlight, growls vibrating through the space around them.

It seemed everyone watched in breathless anticipation as they waited for the clash of claws and fangs against vulnerable human flesh. I jumped from the stage to stand near Killian my heart in my throat.

Lyra crouched without fear, poised and ready, feet planted and eyes on the two wolves. Her muscles coiled with lethal intent as she faced off against her opponents.

As the wolves closed in on her, their fangs bared and claws unsheathed, Lyra's gaze remained fixed on her adversaries. She waited for her moment to strike with steely resolve, her breath coming in fierce puffs as she prepared to unleash her fury.

The she-wolves pounced at Lyra together, teeth bared and muscles coiled. With a swift dodge, Lyra evaded their assault. "Is that all?" she taunted, loud enough for everyone to hear her. She quickly pivoted to confront her foes.

Once again, the she-wolves lunged at Lyra in unison, their jaws snapping and sinewy bodies tensed. Lyra swiftly sidestepped their ferocious onslaught, her movements fluid and precise. "Come on guys, is that the best you've got?" she goaded, a mischievous smirk dancing on her lips.

As the she-wolves snarled and regrouped for another attack, my pulse already chugging up a hill, reached the bottom of a mountain and made a steady climb. From my battles, I knew what Lyra would be facing at that moment. The rush of adrenaline coursing through her veins, heightening her senses. The musty scent of wet fur filled her nostrils, mingling with the smell of blood in the air.

With a primal growl, the largest she-wolf leaped towards Lyra, teeth glinting in the dim light of the clearing. At the last second, Lyra twisted away from the snapping jaws, the rush of wind ruffling her hair as the she-wolf's razor-sharp teeth grazed her skin.

"You'll have to do better than that!" Lyra taunted, her voice laced with confidence as she feinted to the left, then darted to the right. The forest echoed with the sounds of the crowd among the snarls, growls, and the rustle of leaves underfoot. The smaller she-wolf seized an opportunity and lunged at Lyra from the side, aiming to catch her off guard. With lightning reflexes, Lyra pivoted on her heel, narrowly avoiding the attack. The she-wolf skidded to a stop, its claws digging into the damp earth.

"Nice try," Lyra countered, a hint of amusement coloring her tone as she circled her adversaries.

As the she-wolves regrouped once more, communicating by the looks of it as they dipped their heads and whined in fierce tones, growls rising in intensity.

Lyra stayed light on her toes, watching their every move. Was victory in the air? Could she taste the heady mix of sweat and anticipation?

I watched Lyra battle the she-wolves, my heart swelling with pride and admiration. She moved with such grace and agility, dodging their attacks with ease.

"Did you see that?" Killian whispered, nudging my arm. "She's incredible."

I nodded, unable to take my eyes off her. "She's a natural." My voice was thick with emotion.

Killian leaned in close. "I've trained her well, Ryan. She will pull through. She's a fierce warrior."

I shook my head, a smile tugging at my lips. "Damn straight. She's got a fire inside her, alright."

As Lyra evaded another onslaught, the crowd erupted in cheers. She glanced in my direction, our eyes locking for a brief moment. In that instant, I felt a surge of love so powerful it nearly took my breath away.

"You're a lucky man, Ryan," a pack member said, clapping me on the back.

I grinned, my chest tight with emotion. "Don't I know it."

Killian chuckled beside me. "She's going to make one hell of a Luna."

I nodded, my eyes never leaving Lyra's form. She was a force to be reckoned with, a true warrior in every sense of the word.

"I've never seen anything like it," I murmured, my voice rough with pride.

Killian leaned forward. "She's going to win this thing, Ryan. I can feel it."

I couldn't help but agree. Lyra had a determination and strength that was unmatched. She was born for this, born to lead.

As the battle raged on, I found myself holding my breath, my heart pounding in my chest. Every time Lyra dodged an attack or landed a blow, I felt a surge of pride and love so strong it nearly brought me to my knees. "Come on, Lyra," I whispered, my hands clenched into fists. "You've got this."

Lyra egged the she-wolves on, motioning for them to 'come and get it'.

One she-wolf snarled in response, a primitive sounding curse that slashed through the clearing. They circled each her, eyes locked in a silent battle of wills before diving into a flurry of strikes and counters. Lyra dodge each one so that razor sharp claws only met with pine needles, dirt or air.

As they clashed, the scent of damp earth mixed with the musky odor of the she-wolves, enveloping the entire clearing. I could almost see... almost feel the raw power pulsing through Lyra's veins, propelling her to mirror each aggressive move with one of her own.

My heart thrummed in my chest as a sharp yelp shattered the air as Lyra landed a solid blow on the larger she-wolf, causing it to stagger back momentarily. "Had enough yet?" she challenged, determination ringing in her voice as she pressed her advantage.

The crowd roared its approval.

The she-wolf swiftly recovered, shaking off the blow before plunging back into battle with renewed vigor. The fight raged on, each combatant pushing themselves to their limits in an intricate dance of attack and defense.

Suddenly, a low growl sounded behind Lyra as the second she-wolf prepared to strike. My guess is that she hung back long enough so that the first attacker could tire Lyra out somewhat. They would tag-team her until she was so exhausted, she would have to submit or suffer great injury.

Which under my watch, wasn't going to happen.

I watched in awe as Lyra twisted her lithe body out of harm's way with lightning speed, her movements fluid and graceful. In the blink of an eye, she countered with a swift, powerful kick that connected squarely with the she-wolf's chest. The force of the blow sent the attacker's wolf-body smacking into a nearby tree with a sickening thud. The she-wolf's form shifted instantly, her fur receding to reveal naked, unconscious human flesh. She lay there, motionless, as Lyra stood over her, chest heaving with exertion but eyes glinting with the thrill of victory.

"Looks like it's just us now," Lyra exhaled heavily, addressing the remaining she wolf in the clearing. I along with every single spectator held our breath, caught up in the intense battle unfolding before us.

The she-wolf eyed Lyra warily, its body poised for another assault. With a guttural roar, it lunged forward in a final attempt to bring down its human opponent.

The crowd roared in a frenzy of excitement, their cheers merging with the sounds of violence.
