Yadiel is standing on the door, his body is resting against the doorframe and arms crossed against his chest Rayan is growling at the warlock However, he doesn't seem intimated

"Why didn't you say anything sooner?!" My mate shouts.

"I made it a promise to Miranda not to say," he shrugs and comes to the room. I didn't realize Alora was on her feet now. Yadiel smiles at her and his golden eyes twinkle with joy, that's new. His fingers trail her jawline before asking.

"How are you?" Alora blushes slightly before answering him. Jasper clears his throat and Yadiel gives looks at him. "Lucille is a wolf and dragon?" He asks and the warlock nods to affirm.

"I smelled her and when I was told who she was, It was the confirmation I needed," he says looking at prince Rayan.

Yadiel sighs and takes a seat opposite me and Rayan. Jasper and the others relax into their seat.

"Miranda was a fully realized dragon but she asked me to suppress her power when she met Allard Lavigne,"

I'm experiencing a lot of emotions right now, I don't know what to do or say. I'm just shocked at this revelation. My eyes are fixed on the warlock as he continues to talk about my hierarchy.

According to Yadiel, my father and the king found their mates at the same time during the mating ball here in the Royal city. Two best friends mated to best friends, it was so magical.

"How did you meet our mothers?" these are the only words that leave my mouth. I should be asking questions that matter right now, Yadiel seems surprised by my question but he smiles gently before answering me.

"They were very young and running from demons and vampires. They had a little girl with them, Alora. They fought and killed their enemies mercilessly at such a young age and I was impressed," he sighs. I didn't know that queen Astrid and mom knew each other back then, I smile.

"I helped them fight a few battles and we bonded. I took them to my clan but my people didn't feel safe having werewolves and a dragon amongst them, and when it was time for them to leave-" he pauses

"You came with us," Alora says with a smile, looking at Yadiel.

"I think I was ten or so at that time," Alora says.

Yadiel smiles looking at the beautiful woman sitting next to him.

"Why was my mother being chased?" Enol asks concerned.

"A vampire leader fell in love with her but she didn't feel the same so he swore to take her forcibly years after she escaped the north. That was how they gathered the courage to attack several years ago even though it was a losing battle," Rayan answers his brother. I want to know about her illness but I know it's not the right time.

" of course it was a losing battle," Enol boasts.

"But it still cost our mother's health," Rayan whispers, he's unhappy.

Enol's face falls and it goes white, I see the sadness in his eyes. What happened to the Queen? Again I keep my thoughts to myself.

After a long silence I speak " And Mom was chased because she was a dragons,"

"Dragons are very rare but whenever they are spotted, demons hunted and drained their power," Yadiel says.

"Was my mother killed by demons?" I suddenly ask.

"I'm not sure but I doubt demons would dare attack her, Miranda was powerful and they feared her. The last time we spoke was five years ago, she wanted a cloaking spell. I thought she left to look for her kind and cut all contacts with everyone since she was worried that the demons were obtaining more dragons power as it was their breeding season and it was very fruitful," He says with a sullen expression.

"Cloaking spell?" Repeats Rayan silently. This is a spell only warlocks can conjure, It masks one's scent or makes them invisible.

"Do you think she might be alive?" Jasper asks Rayan.

"No, she died a year after speaking to Yadiel," I croak.

I remember the day I was told she died, we were supposed to go to the beach house just weeks after my sixteenth birthday but I refused I was still sullen because I didn't shift. If I agreed to go that day, her life would have been spared. They told me that rogues attacked a group of kids who went camping in the woods, and when mother heard this, she rushed there to help.

When my father and his team arrived, my mom was died however, I didn't see her body, those weeks were the worst. I spent my time crying and refused to eat.

"How did she die?" Enol's voice is unrecognizable.

"She died in a fire, her body was barely recognizable," I croak and tears roll down my cheeks. I wipe them quickly. Rayan's hand is on my back, comforting me silently, his expression is soft. Alora sniffs softly and wipes tears from her eyes as well. I smile "But I'm fine now," I say to them through my blurry eyes but I know they don't believe me.

I'm fine, I swear. I keep repeating to myself, I'm a strong daddy's girl, right.

"Since she stopped taking the suppressors, her creatures will join as one body," suddenly says Yadiel.

"They need to fuse as one being in her body?" Enol says, in thoughts. Yadiel nods

"Can she shift into a dragon or wolf then?" Rayan asks, he looks excited. Yadiel nods

"But it will be hard, she needs to be strong mentally and physically. Let go of what was and embrace the present and welcome the future,"

"I already let go of the past," I croak. Yadiel is looking at me intently.

"No you haven't child, stop the blaming yourself, take control of your pack and be the strong queen you were destined to be,"

He gets up and sighs.

"I can assist in your training as well. It won't be difficult since you already found your mate and your twenty-one birthday is approaching in a week so your wolf and dragon is close," he says in a monotone.

"How do you know that?" Rayan squints his eyes.

"Astrid won't stop talking about it," he sighs. He looks at Alora and smiles kindly.

"Have a pleasant evening, my dear," she is on her feet and they are standing close. I raise an eyebrow at their strange interaction. At last, he kisses her cheek and leaves the room.

One after the other, they all leave. I sigh and sit on Rayan's lap, I'm straddling him. Without any words, I bury my face in his neck and he wraps his arms around me.

"For a very long time now, I hated myself for what happened to my mother," he suddenly says. I want to sit up straight to face him but he holds me in place.

"I've carried guilt in my heart for not helping her,"

My heart aches for him. Is this why he wasn't seeing her all these years?

"You were young," I mutter, the vampires attacked seventeen years ago, and now he's twenty-four, meaning he was seven at the time! He couldn't have done anything to protect her.

"I remember vividly because I've had nightmares of that day since childhood,"

"What happened," in my struggles of losing my parents, I've learnt that talking to someone helps. He gave me his ears when I needed someone to talk to and I want to do the same for him, I want him to know that I'll always be there to listen and he can share his burdens with me.

I thought he won't answer, but he speaks.

"I was in the safety bunkers, with Jasper and my friends while our parents were fighting. I had a dog, it loved running around and somehow it got out,"

"So went after it," my voice is soft and he nods.

He is caressing my back." Mom and a few warriors were defending the castle,"

"Wasn't she pregnant at the time?"

Rayan chuckles a bit.

"She was but Mother was a warrior and she refused to stay still and let our people fight for her,"

Queen Astrid is so brave and I admire her more. A leader who knows the importance of fighting beside her people even though she had another choice.

"She's courageous," I whisper. He agrees.

"Mom saw me run into the woods and followed me. Unfortunately, a few vampires as well. I was frozen as I watched her take on vampires left and right. She seemed so graceful and powerful," his voice is a monotone and I can't read his emotions. "She-she fought them and screamed for me to hide, but I couldn't, my legs were stuck. All I did was hold my puppy closer to me," he pauses for a long time before continuing.

"Seeing that they were losing ground on her. The five remaining vampires jumped at me with sharp objects but my mom shielded me. Lucy, I screamed as they clawed and bite her. Even at a young age, I knew that much poison was bad,"

My heart is wiping for Rayan, he was only a child and he saw them do that.

"A lot of things happened at once, my father vicious wolf rushed to us, it was furious, and never had I seen it so powerful, it was bigger than ten wolves combined. Suddenly, fire from the sky spread out and burned those vampires to a crisp and I fall on the ground," I only hold him tighter and whisper comforting words in his ear." It wasn't your fault-," He cuts me with a cruel statement.

"My mother is dying and it is my fault,"

"No baby, don't say that. Mother's are very protective of their pups and trust me, she'd do it again,"

Rayan keeps shaking his head. He still won't allow me to look at his face. He inhales deeply.

"Don't worry, Lucy. I will protect you, I swear, I swear, I won't be helpless again, ever!" He promises, Rayan's body is shaking and he's holding me closer against him.

"I won't be helpless again, never. I will protect you, I couldn't do it years ago but I will. Lucy, Believe me," he's distraught now. I struggle against his tight embrace until I face him. His eyes are red and they are flickering between black and blue.

I cup his face and kiss him deeply. He doesn't move but softly he answers my kiss. His hands go back to my neck as the kiss gets intense and hot but I pull away and look into his eyes.

"It wasn't your fault. It was those vampires who did that to your mother, not you, Rayan. It was never you," I tell him gently. He pulls me in an embrace and we stay like that.

I'm thinking about Rayan's story, he said there was a fire, could it be that it was my mother? But Yadiel said he suppress her power to keep demons from tracking her. I don't dwell much on it.

When I wake up, I realize I'm lying in bed with someone. I don't need to turn. Rayan's arm is over my body.

"Good morning," his husky voice whispers in my ear. I smile and answer him. I check the time on my nightstand, it reads mid 7 am. Why didn't he wake me. I wonder why Rhodes and the girls aren't here yet.

"Let's have breakfast," Rayan says. I shake my head and get out of bed.

"I'm so late. I should get ready for work,"

I groan and grab my phone to check if any of my girls called or texted to say they are running late, I can get ready by myself but it's good asking for opinions. "What are you doing?"

"Checking to see what's taking the ladies long," I throw my phone on the bed.

"I can help you get ready today. I know how to pick clothes and style hair," Rayan happily offers. I roll my eyes.

"No, but good try,"

He scowls and I bend down to kiss his lips.

"Why don't you pick out my clothes and see how you will do today, maybe I can hire you," I wink. He rests his head on my stomach and bends down to kiss his hair.

I feel his fingers lifting my blouse and caressing my stomach. He is kissing me on my belly and I groan in pleasure. I have goosebumps on my skin as he continues his actions. I have work I say but I can't voice my thoughts. With all the strength in me, I pull away even though Pisces protests. I shudder and run into the bathroom.

I immediately open the shower and allow the cold water to cool my body.

Too cold too cold, I scream and turn back the hot water.

When I come out, I find clothes laid out on the bed for me with a naughty.

"I don't think I can hold myself anymore if I saw you in a towel and dripping of water. I don't have the best restrain on my wolf," I smile and put the note in a drawer.

I check the clothes he has pulled out for me. It's a creamy maxi designer skirt that is over my knees, a tight blouse with straps, and a black long blazer. As for shoes Rayan picked out leather boots with a heel.

Looking in the mirror I realize I look elegant. My mate has good taste. The look is feminine yet powerful.

I put on my all-time natural makeup and do my eyebrows.

I let my hair fall to my shoulders. I quickly fix my make up then head out.
