Chapter 49

We spend an hour on the plane, as I stepped foot out of the private jet, I breathe in the air of the pride moon pack, I feel a wave of emotions and nostalgia hit me.

Rayan's presence is very comforting. He is talking to Enol and Misheck on the other side.

Derek, my aunt, and Naomi come by my side. They have a determined fierce look in their eyes. A few more minutes, black cars begin to arrive. I squint my eyes and look at Rayan but he shrugs his shoulders. "I told Bradley we were coming and he informed the pack elders," my aunt informs me

Two old men came out of the car. They march towards me just as Rayan stands by my side.

Elder Alister is smiling politely even a few elders behind him. Once in an earshot. They bow very low to us.

"We are very happy to see you again, Lucille Lavigne,"

They look at the princes and say,

"We welcome you again to our beloved pack,"

The princes nod and exchange a few words with the elders before we proceed to the cars.

"Lucy!" I hear someone shout. I twist my neck in the direction and notice Bradley is running to me with a huge smile on his face. I squeal and jump into his arms that were already spread out for me He swirls me in happiness and I hold him close.

"I missed you," he whispers. Two low growls get us out of our embrace. Rayan and Naomi don't look happy about our exchange. We chuckle and go to our significant others.

"Hey, babe, I was worried," Bradley says to Naomi as he pulls her into a cozy hug.

"I'm sorry," she murmurs before they meet for a kiss. It's deep but short.

He greets the two princes then briefs us about the pack. Josh and Crystal have been on edge lately and haven't been doing their duties, they are busy sending hunters in search of my aunt without any reason behind it. "Gamma, how fast can you gather the pack at town square?" Rayan asks Bradley.

"In about two hours, why, sir,"

"I'm about to challenge Josh for the alpha title," I inform him. He seems surprised but sniffs the air.

"Congrats on getting your wolf," he smiles. Rayan is glaring at Bradley's hand on my shoulder and the poor guy removes it, seemingly intimated by the prince's glare.

"Mat-mate," Naomi coughs. I smile and hold Rayan's hand. He is relaxed now.

We head into our different cars and go straight to the packhouse. We decided there was no need to drag this, we need to get it over with.

I feel wolves running beside us from the hanger. We pass through the town as we drive to the packhouse and it's just as beautiful as I remember.

As the cars stop, there is a crowd already gathered in front of the main house. Rayan pulls me close and tells me,

"This is your pack, I don't know what the elders or your father were thinking to transfer power to that jackass but you're the real alpha and if it comes to a challenge, show him hell for all the suffering he has caused you," I nod in understanding. I kiss Rayan and he lays his head on my forehead.

"Thank you, baby," I whisper.

Someone opens the door. Rayan gets out first then helps me.

Our men look very imposing compared to the pride moon warriors and I notice they keeps a safe distance. They are murmuring and looking at the royal pack members warily.

As we walk closer, I notice Josh is talking to his new beta Owen. I never liked him, he was one of the people who bullied me for not having a wolf.

Owen is the first to notice me, his eyes widened then he nudges Joshua. Slowly my ex-fiance turns to us and I see the shock on his face. He takes a few steps back.

"Lucy- oh my goodness," Josh is stammering. Unable to believe I'm in front of him. He is about to take a step forward but a scream stops him.

"Josh!" Crystal emerges from the crowd of people. My former friend looks leaner but has some muscles in the right places. A clear indication that she has been training hard. She is wearing a crop top that shows her hard-toned body and black leather pants and boots.

'that's exactly what I wore today,'

Suddenly, anger course through me.

Crystal squints her eyes a little when she sees me and just as Josh did, backs away

"Lucy? Lucy and the Royal family," she says sounding confused. She takes calming breathes before she smiles widely at us.

"Royal members, Prince Rayan, To what do we owe the pleasure of the visit?" she sounds agitated. My mate doesn't answer her instead Enol does.

"We are here with your Alpha," he simply says. Josh has regained his composure now smiles tightly and says,

"I'm the alpha,"

"Like hell you are," Aunt Bridget says, coming from wherever she was. Josh looks concerned.

"Can we settle this issue later, Prince Rayan and Enol, would you like to come into the packhouse,"

"No," is Rayan's gruff response. Josh's eyes move between the two of us then a low growl resonates from his chest

"Lucy, why are you holding his hand?" He steps closer to us but Misheck shuffles him back "Watch it,"

The two have a light confrontation but it doesn't escalate.

"Josh, I'm here to get my title back. You and your so-called Luna are to stand trial for the attempted murder of the pack's matriarch, my aunt," I lay it out for him

"And for the involvement of the death of the late Alpha," my aunt boldly adds. The crowd around gasps, and growls.

Of course, Josh tries to deny the allegations but he couldn't!

"There's no evidence!" He Argues.

"The rogues you're working with have been caught an hour ago and are willing to confess," Bradley informs him.

Betrayal is written on his face

"I'm the alpha here and I make the rules," Josh growls, I almost yawn, what did I see in this pathetic wolf? His growl is not threatening and now more than ever I know I can take him in less than 20 minutes. "I'm challenging your position and the elders have already permitted it,"

Rayan made sure we follow the procedure and has been preparing this for quite some time. Josh's eyes are trained on the elders, specifically his father.

"Dad you allowed this!"

"Don't call me that, you're an embarrassment and henceforth you are disowned from my family," Elder Kamala declares vehemently.

He looks at his mother who only shakes his head and cries, they have no one on their side. Crystal is quiet through this whole thing and when she speaks it's bitter.

"You couldn't get Josh so you lure a Prince just so that you can exact vengeance, how low and disappointing," she says without emotion before I can speak up, Naomi does.

"Shut up, b***h. You're the disappointment, how could you do this to Alpha Allard, he was a father to you, to us, Crystal,"

"No one intended for that to happen," she re torts, I sense guilt in her voice and immediately the crowd starts to react. Shouting out that they must be punished. Others calling for death, other jail.

However, Rayan raises his hand and they all immediately quieten. He is taking menacing steps towards Josh who looks very intimidated by my mate.

"In two hours, you're fighting my beautiful mate, and even if you win, you will still lose the title," Rayan says seriously.

"Thanks for the confidence, Babe!" I holler sarcastically, he smiles charmingly and says,

"I'm just informing him that there is no winning here,"

Minutes later the elders, Rayan, and a few people are in the conference room, discussing what will happen.

Josh's eyes are still focused on me as the elders present him with the consequences of his actions.

'Lucy,' his voice rings in my head. I almost jump, I wasn't expecting him to mind link me.

'so Allan was right, you got your wolf. Lucy, I'm sorry for everything I did, I deeply regret everything. You were always so perfect but I was too blind to see,' he says, his voice is sincere and from the look in his eyes, I can tell he means it. I ignore him and hold my mate's hand tighter. Rayan gives me a killer smile and I almost melt.

'i don't care about the position, I just want you back, please give me a chance,'

This man has no shame whatsoever. Crystal is sitting right beside him while he tells me this.

Crystal seems to be in my thoughts and glaring at me from time to time.

"So Josh, the duel is taking place in the evening, I hope you are ready," my aunt says.

Josh's eyes look at me, he looks vulnerable.

"I don't want to fight Lucy," he whispers and gets to his feet.

"You can have it back, the power and title is yours," he says and I'm taken back that he would give it back so easily. I glance at Crystal who has total shock on her face.

"Dear alpha don't you think you should discuss that with your Luna?" Crystal Snickers. I'm wondering how it got to this? Since when has she been so power-hungry?

"I'm the alpha, I will willingly concede and give back my power to her," Josh's eyes are on me and Rayan growls, making him look away.

"I refuse," Crystal says.

"Shut up, young lady," an elder female snaps at Crystal.

She growls at her.

"Well, what a way to spoil my fun beta alpha but I guess it will save us time, brother what do you think?" Enol asks.

Rayan is quiet until he sighs "what do you think, my love?" He asks me. After giving it a long thought I just nod

"They must be punished severally. I want the worst punishment for these traitors," I say.

Josh is trying to mind link me but I close off our channel. While Rayan and the other discuss, I get up to stand by the window when suddenly I feel a force against me and the window cracks into pieces, pushing me through it. While in the air I shift and Land on my paws.

A grey wolf is growling in malice and I immediately recognize it, it's a wolf I patted, the one that once stood to protect me. Jennifer, Crystal's wolf. It charges at me full speed, baring its sharp fangs but I get out of the way, hitting it with my back paws. The crowd is forming around us as we circle each other.

Crystal jumps at me with all her strength and claws my side harshly. I back away and I can imagine the proud face she would make In her human form. Our fight is vicious and ugly, no one is interfering, I can feel her weaken but she pushes herself harder. She's no weak opponent but I'm stronger than her.

'Watch the neck, Josh's voice rings in my head.

'Get the f**k out of my head,' I mind link him back, however, I notice my ex-best friend is targeting my neck.

As the fight continues, the crowd is cheering. Most of them are in support of me. That only motivates me to fight harder.

Crystal attacks and I jump on her, pinning her to the ground and bite her neck, no matter how much she whimpers or tries to shake me off, I bite harder with one small snap, and crystal will die, as my claws deepen in her flank I contemplate killing her. My best friend for twenty years.

Crystal's wolf begins to whimper loudly each passing second as I tighten my grip by her neck and I smell blood.

No, I'm not a killer, I throw her into a near and she falls, covered in so much blood, and shifts immediately.

I shift back in less than a second, I inspect my body, I have small cuts but nothing my wolf can't heal. Rayan takes off his coat to cover my body.

"You did good, I'm proud of you, my lady," he praises. I only smile.

He is looking at me with admiration, he kisses my temple and the crowd erupts in cheers, they are screaming in excitement. I raise my hand to them and they quieten. "Someone take her away, treat her and lock them up for good," a few guards, pick up Crystal.

She's crying and whimpering in pain but I don't care about her. Derek immediately arrests Josh, as he is being taken away, he is doesn't resist just looking at me but my mate hugs me possessively and I bury my head in his chest. He repeatedly kisses my hair. The pack is celebrating and preparing for a party tonight.

We spend more hours in the conference room to discuss the future of the pack, since I'll be the queen of wolves the elders thought it best if I can put someone in charge of the pack while I do my duties and I pick my aunty Bridget, she's very strong, beautiful and intelligent at the age of 35 years old.

She will report to me on issues here and she has chosen Derek as the beta.

'I'm sorry, I can still feel his chant in my head but I block him out, he wants me to go and see him

Josh and Crystal will serve years in prison with hard labor and once they are done, they will be banished and no pack will accept them so they will forever be rogues, this is what they deserve.

The men we came with are socializing with the pack moon pack while Rayan and I decide to rest before the party, we are cuddled in bed and I'm telling him all the beautiful memories I have here

I'm content and happy in his arms like this.

Rayan and I had fallen asleep, we woke up in the evening and the party has already started. We freshen up quickly as my aunt calls us downstairs.

Once outside the party, there is a huge fireplace and everyone is happily dancing and drinking beer. We greet the guests and Interact with others. Misheck is dancing with a blonde girl I recognize, she is one of the prominent Minister's daughters here. I see Rhodes has also joined the party, Derek is introducing her to his parents and friends

She seems so happy, I run to her and hug her tightly from behind.

"Congratulations!" She squeals.

"Omg! I can't believe this? Can you believe it Enol?!" She is squealing in excitement and Derek Marvel over her and he pulls her into his arms. I can tell how proud he is.

"Yo, now you're making me want a mate," enol says with a frown.

"Don't worry, you'll find her too," I say he only scoffs.

"I don't want," he says vehemently and it takes me by surprise. He looks to be in deep thoughts, he's almost sad and I want to ask him why, he pulls me to the dance floor where everyone is dancing to one of my favorite songs by Whitney, dance with somebody. Our hands are in the air and moving our waist, I feel Rayan dance behind me, his neck is buried in my neck.

'Lucy, you need to come to the border now, my aunt's voice rings into my head. She sounds frightened. Derek tenses too.

This can't be good,' Pisces murmurs.
