The Alpha's Unwanted Mate
The Alpha’s Unwanted Mate Chapter 136 Book 2 Chapter 68

Celeste’s hands trembled as she held him, her heart drowning in sorrow. “Zillon…” She sobbed pitifully. “You lied…you said you’d come back…you promised…”

Zillon looked up at her, eyes barely open. “I also… pr-promised that if-if anything happened, I’d say goodbye first, didn’t I?”

“I don’t want a good-bye…I want you to get up, to heal…”

“I…I w-won’t heal and y…you know it.”

“But you have to…”

Shakily Zillon’s bloody hand reached for her face, wiping the tears that tainted it. “Don’t cry, kitten…” He looked over at Xavier who stooped alongside her. “He’ll take care of you…”

“No…I want you…” Celeste cried, grabbing his hand and moving it from her face to her stomach. “Will you say goodbye to them too?”

“I…I…” Tears blurred Zillon’s vision, his eyes glancing away from her. He couldn’t say goodbye or rather he didn’t want to. He wasn’t ready to go, he had to help Celeste through her pregnancy and when it was over, he had to watch his pups grow.

But unsurprisingly, the end game was not up to him, it was up to the goddess. If he died, then she probably had a reason to kill him.

Perhaps this was the only way he could pay for all he had previously done to his mate; she had forgiven him, but it seems the goddess hadn’t…

For why else would she take his life when he had so much to f*cking live for?

Celeste would suffer through this too, she’d miss him, he knew…but what could he do about it?

If he had a choice, he’d start healing, he’d stand up… he’d…he’d live… unfortunately though, he had no choice…

“Celeste I—” A grunt made out of pure pain left his lips, the ache in his lungs, in his heart undoubtedly increasing. It felt hard to breathe, hard to keep his eyes open, but as he had promised, he’d say goodbye to his kitten and to his pups first.

Looking back over at her, he inhaled deeply and breathed back out in a weary sigh. “I…I didn’t want it to come to this…I really d-didn’t want to leave you like this…but I have to. Please live…at least for me…” His shaking hand ran slowly across her stomach. “At least for…for them and please tell them that I’m sorry for leaving before they could meet me…”

He chuckled, b***d dripping from the sides of his lips. “Th-they probably won’t fo…forgive me, but I’d understand…I’ll always love t-them though and I’ll always love you too…”

Slowly his eyes fluttered close and more tears flooded Celeste’s face. “Zillon…?”

When she got no response, her heart opened right up… and pain…pain like no other ran like b***d through he veins. What this it?

Was he gone now?

Had he finally left her?

No, it couldn’t be…

Ignoring the pain she felt, Celeste shook at his chest, sobbing profusely as she spoke. “Open your eyes, Zillon… Open your eyes! Please…”

But Zillon didn’t open his eyes…he was gone and it was all because of her.

If she hadn’t come outside, he wouldn’t have had to protect her…if she had just listened, he wouldn’t have died…if she hadn’t been so stubborn, he would’ve come back…

Without him, she didn’t feel like living, life would be so hard and she’d have to live it with a hole forever in her chest…

She didn’t want that, but she was pregnant, she was carrying his pups. If Zillon wouldn’t get the chance to watch them grow, then she had to do it for him…

He’d want that…he always talked about pups…always tried his best to get her pregnant…he said he wanted to see her swelled up with his babies and yet his eyes closed before it could happen, how pitiful…

With tears in her eyes and heart, Celeste’s index finger ran along the bruises on his neck. She wish they’d heal, every single one of them…goddess she wish he’d open up his obsidian eyes, breathe and then stand up…

She wished…she wishe—

Celeste gasped when the finger she had on his neck lighted up and when she flinched it away from him, someone behind her brought it right back onto his neck…

“A white wolf gifted by the goddess…To save is to die, but to die is to live…An omega who can’t heal, but can heal…”

Celeste’s bottom l*p dropped when from her hand came a bright light that shone like a star in the dark night… What was this? W-What was happeni…

With wide eyes, she looked behind her, finding one of the elders smiling gently at her. “The gifted wolf shall heal the body and also the heart where most of the pain is…”

Slowly, he moved her hand from his now surprisingly healed neck, placing it on his chest. “And a heart that had nearly stopped beating shall beat strong and loud again…”

Beneath her hand, Celeste could undoubtedly feel a heartbeat; Zillon’s heartbeat. He wasn’t dead, he wasn’t gone…he was…he was…

The pain that had been touring through Celeste’s body came to a sudden stop and Zillon heaved up off the earth, inhaling swiftly…

Everybody around them gasped and the light that had been reflecting from Celeste’s hand disappeared as though it wasn’t there.

Zillon looked around, hands groping his neck. “I-I healed…? H-how?”

“A white wolf gifted by the goddess…To save is to die, but to die is to live…An omega who can’t heal, but can heal…The gifted wolf shall heal the body and also the heart where most of the pain is…And a heart that had nearly stopped beating shall beat strong and loud again…”

The elder stood to his feet, picking up his staff and using it to help him on his way into the forest. “A white wolf gifted by the goddess…To save is to die, but to die is to live…An omega who can’t heal, but can heal…The gifted wolf shall heal the body and also the heart where most of the pain is…And a heart that had nearly stopped beating shall beat strong and loud agai…”

Zillon turned away from him and his nonstop chanting, looking over at Celeste who sat dumbfounded beside him. “I-I don’t understand what went on or what the elder’s trying to say, but I’m glad to have lived…I’m glad that I got to see you again…”
