THE BILLIONAIRE IS INFATUATED WITH HIS EX-LOVER
Chapter 18: Jealous because of love

With each day, Sara's belly grew more extensive, prompting Mr. Roberts to hastily discuss the need to organize a grand wedding with Henry. Mr. Roberts sought to use this wedding to affirm the standing and the solid relationship between the two families to all their relatives, friends, and business associates. It was also a career step forward and a warning to their competitors.

"You needn't worry about the wedding, Father. The family and I have everything arranged. Tomorrow, I will take Sara to register our marriage, and when an auspicious day arrives, we will celebrate," Henry eagerly expressed, having long awaited this moment. He could hardly believe he was about to walk down the aisle with Sara.

"Then I am at ease," Mr. Roberts replied. "Sara is all I have; I've always cherished and worried over her. But the day will come when I must depart, and I entrust you to care for and love her in my stead. Sara might appear stubborn and strong- willed, but that's just a facade. In truth, she's innocent and sincere. I hope you'll treasure my daughter as I have."

"I understand your feelings, Father. I promise to love and care for her and our child wholeheartedly, never failing to meet your expectations," Henry asserted confidently before Mr. Roberts.

Suddenly, Mr. Roberts received a phone call about an urgent matter at the company and had to leave. As Henry was about to go to Sara's room, he inadvertently spotted a folder on the table containing photos of him and Sara with another man. Curiosity piqued, he examined the documents and froze upon realizing the man was Sara's ex-lover, who had been in contact recently.

"So that's why she initially refused me; she still has him on her mind," Henry mused, a bitter feeling taking hold of his heart.

Upon reviewing the documents, Henry immediately understood who Leon was and where he could be found. In deciding to accept Sara, Henry had resolved not to dwell on her past or the child's true paternity. Yet, learning of Leon's existence ignited an inevitable jealousy within him. How many men in the world could genuinely accept their woman having a child by another without feeling a twinge of sorrow?

Henry, a man of clear distinction between public and private matters, was determined never to let that man re-enter his wife's life again.

The streets grew deserted and quiet as the night deepened, the lamplight casting a wide glow over the space. Two men halted, facing each other, their silhouettes stark against the light-one towering, the other equally formidable. The silence only heightened the tension between them.

"Leon, no introduction is necessary. You already know I am Sara's fiancé," Henry declared boldly, his gaze intensely fixed on the cold Leon before him.

"Everyone's heard about your affair in the papers. But perhaps you're unaware that your soon-to-be wife is pregnant," Leon smirked mockingly.

His spiteful words clenched Henry's heart in a vice, screaming in agony.

"I'm warning you, stay away from my wife, or you and LT Corporation will face dire consequences," Henry threatened with all his might, gripping Leon's collar tightly, rendering him momentarily breathless. However, Leon remained calm, countering with sharp words.

"Don't try to act strong or capable. So what if you marry her? In the end, you're just another failed man."

Leon was immediately forced to absorb a punch from Henry that seemed to come out of the heavens, leaving him reeling. Yet Leon quickly regained his balance as a man seasoned by life's trials.

"Slap!" Henry stumbled, feeling the corner of his mouth wet. He wiped away a few droplets of blood with a forceful hand, but this only fueled his resolve further.

"Am I a failure? Are you not more of a failure for letting your child bear another man's name?" Henry laughed loudly, his eyes sharp as knives piercing Leon's heart.

"Slap! Slap!" Leon shed his jacket and tie, throwing them to the ground, and delivered a flurry of punches to Henry. The two men wrestled on the asphalt, neither willing to give ground.

"What did you just say? Repeat it!" Leon roared like a starving tiger, his eyes blazing with the ferocity of a great forest fire.

"I said, from now on, your child will bear my surname, Russell. Haha." Henry laughed heartily; his glee mingled with profound pain. In Sara's presence, he always appeared cheerful, not wanting her to feel dejected. But at this moment, he was living with all his thoughts. Henry was envious of the man Sara had once loved so dearly. Patience has its limits, and he could no longer hold back.

Henry's words awakened Leon to the realization that Sara had deceived him. How much must she despise him to do such a thing? Leon's grip loosened, and he walked away, dazed and soulless, as it dawned on him that his suspicions were confirmed.

"Sara, you've been cruel to me and our child," Leon whispered.

After Leon departed, Henry realized the physical pain from his wounds, which paled in comparison to the cuts in his heart. If the two of them were to reconcile one day, how could he face it?

Henry relaxed his limbs, closed his eyes tightly, and lay alone on the deserted street, letting life pass by. The stars flickered intermittently, mirroring the deadlock of his current existence. He whispered, "All this time, Sara and Leon have been in touch, and I was the fool who knew nothing, intruding on their affair." Henry could ignore the slander, but a wounded heart throbs with a lingering pain.
