THE BILLIONAIRE IS INFATUATED WITH HIS EX-LOVER -
Chapter 19: Leon stole the bride
From the announcement of their engagement to the grand ceremony, only a month had passed, but for Sara and Henry, while they appeared calm on the surface, their hearts were in turmoil.
Sara couldn't get in touch with Jessica, possibly because she thought Sara was deceiving her and no longer wished to speak her name. Sara had asked Jessica's other friends about it but couldn't find any news or hint. Jessica, usually friendly and a frequent party-goer, had suddenly vanished, causing Sara great concern.
Suddenly, Sara was startled when someone reached out from behind. The face of the tall man pressed close to hers, his warm breath and alluring scent soothing her troubled heart.
"Sara, we're truly about to become husband and wife. Is there anything you want to tell me?" Henry tightened his grip, reflecting his own tangled and troubled thoughts. After encountering Leon, Henry feels jealous and insecure about Sara's feelings for him.
"What's wrong? Haven't we already made everything clear to each other before deciding on this? Don't you trust me?" Henry turned around to look into Henry's sorrowful eyes, sensing something was amiss.
"No, it's just that as the day approaches, I feel more empty, worried that I might not be good enough and cause you harm."
"Rest assured, you're the best man I've ever met." Sara's lips curved into a reassuring smile, which did little to alleviate Henry's worries.
"Then am I the man you love the most?"
Sara turned her face towards the window, where the sunlight outside was breathtaking, almost oppressive, much like her heart was suffocating when faced with Henry's question. She had told herself she would be a good wife, loving her husband, cherishing her child, and staying with him till the end of their days if he could be generous with her and her child. But when directly confronted with this question, she hesitated.
"Us now and in the future will surely be different."
Henry silently embraced her again, gently stroking her slightly protruding belly, whispering, "Little one, you are the greatest love of Mom and Dad. Be good, and Dad is waiting for the day we can meet where the sunlight always warms."
The two lovingly looked at each other, happiness radiating from their bright faces.
The ceremony was grandly held at a newly inaugurated five-star hotel belonging to Henry's family. The reception was organized outdoors at Sara's request because she preferred the freedom and comfort of enjoying the cool sea breezes on a summer evening over the stifling indoors. This hotel epitomized the luxury and wealth of the Russell family. Everything reeked of money, from its architecture to its interior decor and the service staff. The Russell family took this marriage seriously, particularly their daughter-in-law, Sara. Despite her age, Mrs. Anna Russell had meticulously prepared early to welcome esteemed guests and close business associates. She was regarded as a venerable figure, having played a significant role alongside her husband in building their vast empire.
Dressed in a glittering velvet ao dai and draped in a luxurious embroidered silk scarf, she exuded the elegance and grace of a seasoned celebrity from the entertainment industry. Her demeanor, that of a worldly and wise woman, drew the attention of all guests. She sat in the front row, conversing with the older guests, each keen on networking and possibly securing lucrative deals through this gathering.
Henry and his parents greeted everyone with bright smiles at the guest reception area outside, guiding them inside. The guests continuously offered their congratulations to the young couple, wishing them centuries of happiness. Though Henry harbored unresolved feelings, today was a day of joy. He believed that life would change after tomorrow, and this belief in their marriage warmed his heart.
Mrs. Lisa Russell leaned in to whisper to her son, "It's almost time. See if Sara is ready, and check if she needs help."
Heeding his mother's advice, Henry made his way to the bride's waiting room; just as he was about to slide open the door, a message arrived. Henry paused to check his phone, only to be shocked by the image of Sara sitting in a car, leaving the ceremony with another man. The color drained from his face as he recognized the man as Leon, whom he despised deeply.
Just as Henry was about to give chase, a call came from an unknown number, carrying the icy voice of a man on the other end.
"Marrying another man's wife is the utmost folly a man can commit. It's time you give her back to me."
"Henry, Henry! Save me!"
"Sara! Sara!" Hearing Sara's pleas for help, Henry's panic intensified, fearing she had been forcefully taken into the car. He was distraught but clueless about Leon's whereabouts with her.
"What do you want? Release her!"
Beep... Beep... Beep... The phone call ended in long beeps, and Henry punched the wall in a rage, his eyes blazing with a thousand fiery glints. Mrs. Lisa Russell arrived, startled and confused by the unfolding scene. "What happened, child? I can't find Sara."
"Damnable!" Henry roared, overwhelmed with fury. He had never imagined being backstabbed like this. Despite Leon's cold exterior, Henry once thought of him as having a semblance of decency. Now, with things made clear, Leon's brazenness in stealing his bride fueled an unstoppable rage within him, a vendetta that must be settled.
Sara, after being taken away, desperately sought to escape, kicking fiercely at the car door only to be restrained by Leon
"We have a child together; we are a family."
"Let me go! I don't want to be part of your household. You once said I was beneath you, nothing more than a whore who'd sleep with anyone. How could someone like me ever have the honor of being the mother of your child? Wake up, Mr. CEO." Mocked by Sara, Leon's expression darkened further.
"No matter what you say, I've decided not to let you go today." Leon tightened his grip, rendering Sara unable to squirm.
"Let me go, I'm pregnant. Aren't you afraid something might happen?"
"That's exactly why you need to sit still, no sudden movements."
"Have you ever seen anyone being kidnapped just sitting quietly, letting themselves be taken away? Mr. CEO, have you confused reality with the romantic novels you've read too much of?" Sara continued to try to escape Leon's control. Leon's eyes blazed with a fury that seemed to burn everything in its path. Watching Sara struggle in vain, he felt helpless.
"For years, you've remained the same. I once thought you would grow up and understand more, but I was mistaken. If this is how you are, don't blame me."
Suddenly, Sara's head was held tight and met with a fierce kiss that seemed to consume her tender lips. The warmth spread unexpectedly, draining Sara of the strength to resist. Leon held the petite girl tightly in his arms, his desire to possess her overwhelming.
The touch on her delicate skin, which he had longed for, ignited his desire, awakening the primal instincts Leon had always restrained. He tightened his grip as if afraid she would disappear forever.
The scent emanating from Sara's body infiltrated his senses, invading every corner of his mind, enchanting Leon beyond escape. To him, Sara was like an addiction, impossible to quit once hooked. For Sara, amidst this turmoil, the image of a warm, sincere Lei Ting she once deeply loved surfaced. She wondered, is this the man she truly wants to escape from?
