THE BILLIONAIRE IS INFATUATED WITH HIS EX-LOVER
Chapter 29: Jee refuses Leon's help

"Director, there's something I need to say."

The director, courteous and attentive, listened as she spoke.

"I don't want to be part of that film."

"What did you say? Say that again."

Jee stood up, looking directly into the disappointed eyes of the man before her, and declared.

"I want to withdraw from the film."

The director shouted in anger.

"What have you achieved since you joined the company? You always say you're grateful for my guidance, but now, as soon as you get a big film offer, you refuse without thinking. Don't you feel any remorse? Let me tell you, the five-year contract is still very much in effect, and the consequences will be dire if you don't comply."

Mentioning the contract made Jee hesitant; given her current financial situation, she couldn't afford to pay any penalties, but agreeing would only bolster those who believed she had climbed the ladder only because she had support.

"I don't care whether your romance with him is real or fake, as long as you can use it to achieve something."

Seeing Jee silent, the director came closer, his tone softening to coax her.

"Look, you have beauty and youth. It's a pity if you don't use them as tools to advance yourself. If I were blessed with your looks, I wouldn't have to bow and scrape before the powerful anymore." "But I want to succeed on my own merits."

"You know, there's an old, very apt saying: If someone gives you a gun, learn to use it well instead of just keeping it safe. For a woman, beauty and youth are weapons. You should learn to wield them."

The director was a seasoned individual who knew what should and shouldn't be done. This man could be intensely emotional at times but ruthlessly pragmatic at others. Having been by his side for a while, Jee knew she needed to learn defense and how to bear her claws.

Jee left the office with her boss's words still echoing. She didn't want to exploit others to advance her career, but striving alone seemed insufficient. Caught between a rock and a hard place, she felt desperate.

As she reached the parking lot, she encountered Liz Smith, a colleague she didn't get along with, so she intended to ignore her and move on. But just as she passed by, she heard a call.

"Jee, do you think you can ignore me because you have a billionaire boyfriend backing you, your career is soaring, and you're involved in big projects? In every profession, there's a hierarchy and order. To live well in society, you must know your place."

Jee turned around, visibly annoyed. She had always clashed with Lis, who often condescended and scrutinized her juniors because she felt superior due to her seniority.

"Good people I don't mind associating with, but I don't keep company with the petty."

"So, you're calling me petty? You..."

Liz raised her hand to slap Phong Trà but was swiftly blocked.

"You said it yourself, not me."

Liz didn't stop there, continuing her taunt.

"I heard you have the audacity to refuse this project because it doesn't suit you or you lack confidence. If you need more confidence in your abilities, pass them on to me. I'll take the role, and you can watch and learn." "Weren't you in the industry before me? If you were competent, you'd have succeeded already instead of fearing I'll surpass you."

Jee's words struck Liz like a dagger, leaving her seething with rage. After Jee à walked away, Liz furiously kicked at her car, muttering, "Damn her, she'll pay for this someday."

The news of Jee turning down the role infuriated Leonh. He genuinely wanted to understand why she was so adamant in her refusal. Could it be that all his offerings still weren't enough to satisfy her ambitions?

Suddenly, Leon remembered their impulsive and stubborn refusal to yield to others in her, similar to Sara's. Moreover, why wouldn't they look so alike if it wasn't for her? Initially, he approached Jee because he missed his old flame, but now the similarities made him determined to uncover the truth.

From the first meeting, she had asserted that she was not Sara. Could they possibly be twin sisters or just a random coincidence?

Leon sat back, reminisced about all that transpired, and called Mark in.

"Investigate her background thoroughly for me."Looking at a newspaper featuring Jee, Mark understood the implication but hesitated due to a nagging doubt.

"Why are you so interested in her? Could it be that you haven't gotten over Sara?" Leon's expression hardened, all emotions dissipating, leaving only a cold demeanor. "You just do your job without further questions?"

Mark left silently, but a worry began to stir within him. What would happen if the past repeated itself?
