The Blood Moon Twins
Chapter 113

CAULDER

Harper's link broke suddenly, and when I tried to connect with her again, it was like the line was dead. s**t. s**t. s**t. This wasn't good. I pushed myself to run faster as I headed in the direction she told me she was in. Several warriors were by my side now, ready to s******** anyone threatening the pack. Harper hadn't said who took Remy, so I had no idea what we were getting into.

I skidded to a stop when we reached the edge of the territory. Harper's scent was still strong, and I knew she had crossed the border. She told me she wouldn't leave the territory, and she wouldn't put herself in unnecessary danger. I knew I shouldn't have let her go alone, because I likely would have done the same thing as her, but now she was in danger.

Blade arrived seconds after me with a few warriors by his side as well. I asked them to contact him and tell him what was going on. I shifted into my human form so I could talk to him and update him on what happened.

"Harper said she found Remy. She was following them and said she knew where they had taken Remy, but the connection broke before she could tell me where." I felt like I couldn't breathe. I needed my mate by my side where I knew she was safe and sound. I wished she had just listened to me.

"Did she say who was after Remy?" Blade asked. We both knew Draven was overall the one behind the attack, but we didn't know who in the pack was helping me.

I shook my head. "No, but we have to go after them now. We can't risk them hurting Remy or Harper."

I started walking past the border, but Blade grabbed my arm, stopping me midstep. I was about to yell at him to let me go, but then I saw several pairs of red eyes staring us down. We would have to fight through the vampires to get the girls, and there were at least five vampires waiting on the other side for us, and that was all I could see. I was sure there were more lurking where I couldn't see.

"We can't just rush in without a plan," Blade said, keeping a firm grip on my arm. "I'm confident Draven is the one behind this, and he'll be prepared for us."

"I'm not going to wait around for Draven to kill them," I said. I was shaking from rage and fear.

"I'm not either. I'm going to go get them no matter what, but let's get back up so we have a proper chance against him," Blade said. "We'll get ourselves killed if we go in like this."

I looked at his face, and it was filled with anguish. I knew it was killing him to tell me we had to wait. I could see the look in his eyes, and I knew he was just as ready to rush past these vampires to save our mates, but he was right. We would just end up getting ourselves killed if we rushed there now. We had to be smart about this, but we also had to be quick.

"I'll tell my father and Mason to meet us as soon as possible to get the warriors ready," I said with a nod.

REMY

"Harper?" I whispered, trying to wake her up. I was shocked to see her dragged down into the basement shortly after me. We were both tied to a pillar with our hands secured behind our backs, which limited our movement.

Harper was unconscious when they brought her down, and she hadn't regained consciousness yet. I was starting to worry they had seriously injured her.

"Harper?" I called out again, this time a little louder. I didn't want the vampires to hear me, but I needed her to respond to me. I needed to know she was okay. I didn't know how she got pulled into this mess with me, but maybe the two of us could work together to get out of here.

I nudged her with my foot. "Harper, please wake up."

This time she groaned in response to me. She lifted her head and looked around completely dazed. "Where are we?"

"I think we're in the vampire's headquarters," I said. "Are you okay?"

"My head hurts," she muttered.

I could only see her out of my peripheral vision, but when they had brought her in, I had seen some blood in her blonde hair. "I think they hit you on the back of the head. What happened? How did they get you?"

She took a moment to respond, and it was clear she was still a little dazed. "I was following your trail, looking for you. I saw Julie dragging you away, and I knew I couldn't let her just take you. I was going to go back for help, but then..." Her voice trailed off, but I was able to fill in the blanks.

"Can you link the pack? Tell them where we are?" I asked. I still didn't have my werewolf abilities back, but I hadn't seen them drug Harper, so I hoped she could call for help, and tell them where we were.

Harper closed her eyes, and after a moment, she said, "It's not working. It's like I'm hitting some sort of wall."

"That's because you are," a new voice said.

The voice sent chills down my spine, and I instantly recognized it. The blood drained out of my face as I saw Draven emerge from the shadows. How long had he been standing there?

He gestured around the room. "Do you see all of the purple flowers growing around the room?"

I looked around the room again. Everything was dark, and it was hard to see, but now that he mentioned it, I could see the silhouettes of skinny, tall flowers growing around the edges of the room. I had only seen pictures of the flower before, so I didn't recognize it right away. "Wolfsbane," Harper whispered.

"Ding! Ding! Ding!" Draven said gleefully. He walked over to me and crouched just a few inches away from my face. "We've been growing it for a while in preparation for your capture. Not only will the scent of it dull your abilities, it will stop werewolves from bursting in here to save you. So your friend shouldn't bother trying to reach out to your pack. It won't do you any good."

I swallowed hard and tried to twist away from Draven's close proximity. There was an evil seeping from his skin, and it was suffocating me. I never knew someone could have such horrible intent spewing from them, and I had a feeling I would get sick if he touched

me.

"Let Harper go. You only want me, so why bother with her?" I tried to sound demanding and confident, but I only sounded scared.

"Because I made a deal with that whiny little girl. She brings me you, and I take care of her." Draven gestured to Harper, and my blood went cold. He extended his fingernails until they were as sharp as blades. "I could slit her throat right now, actually." "No!" I shouted instantly. "Don't hurt her. Please don't hurt her." If Draven had to hurt someone, I wanted it to be me. Harper didn't deserve to suffer because of my prophecy and my curse.

Draven chuckled, and I knew he had wanted to get a rise out of me. He grabbed my chin and made me look into his eyes. I only saw darkness. "What do you have to offer me to convince me not to kill her?"

My body shook, and I felt queasy under his touch. I had nothing to offer him.

"Don't agree to anything," Harper said.

"Shut up!" Draven let go of my chin and was in front of Harper in a split second. His hand flew through the air and hit her on the cheek. Red started dripping from her cheek. "You are useless, so I would be careful with what you say, if I were you." "What do you want from me?" I asked to get the attention back on me. If it meant Harper would be okay, maybe there was something I could agree with.

Draven paused and stood up straight. He moved away from Harper and looked down at me. "Oh? You are willing to make a deal with me? You're more obedient than I expected. Only if that useless brother of mine was as well-behaved."

My heart raced, and my stomach twisted into knots. This wasn't going to be good for me, but I had to buy Harper a little more time. "What do you want?" I repeated.

Draven tapped his chin a few times while humming. Then he crouched down so he was eye level with me again. "How about a kiss?" My entire body tensed. The idea of kissing this man made my entire body shake. "A kiss and you won't harm Harper?" "Remy, don't-" Harper began.

Draven shushed her while holding a finger up to her as a threat. "A kiss, and I won't harm your friend."

"Okay." I hated myself the moment I agreed to the kiss, but if that was what it took to keep Harper safe, I could handle it for a moment.

"Excellent." He grabbed my chin, and his mouth was on mine before I was ready. His tongue was cold as it ran over my lips. I kept my lips in a tight line, refusing to move and participate in the kiss. My chest ached, and a sharp pain ran through my heart. It felt like I was cheating on Blade, and tears started to pour out of my eyes. I wanted it to stop, but Draven kept going, forcing his tongue into my mouth. It tasted like sewage, and I was on the verge of being sick. When he finally pulled back, I felt like the life had been drained out of me, and I couldn't stop crying.

He licked his lips with a satisfied smirk. "I get why Blade was so protective of you. You taste sweeter than anyone I have ever tasted before. Surprising for a wolf girl. I look forward to doing that more." No. No. No. I wanted to scream or shout. If that was what my future held, I would rather have Draven kill me. I couldn't live a life where he used me as his personal playtoy.

"I'll be back later. I have business to attend to," he said. His footsteps were silent as he left the room. The only indication he was gone was the distinct sound of a lock clicking behind him. The moment he was gone, I lurched to the side and spilled my guts. I felt sick to my stomach.

"We'll get out of here," Harper said, her voice quiet and determined. "I won't let him use you like that. I swear to you I'll get you out of here."

I wanted to respond to her, but I couldn't find any words. Tears continued falling from my eyes, and my body shook with disgust, horror, fear of the future, and complete and utter guilt.
