The Blood Moon Twins -
Chapter 117
HARPER
I flew towards Julie, tackling her off of Remy. I had been working to squeeze my wrists from the restraints the moment Draven left the room. It had been a struggle, and my wrists were covered in rope burns, but I didn't care. Remy bought me a few more minutes when she lunged at Julie, and it was just enough time for me to save Remy from Julie's crazed state. Julie screamed as I pinned her to the ground, but I quickly covered her mouth. I didn't want any vampires to barge in here and see what we did.
"Remy, grab me the rope," I said. I glanced over at her, and she was still lying on the ground, blinking up at the ceiling. She was struggling. Her skin was paler than normal, and her eyes kept going in and out of focus. I needed to get her out of here as soon as possible so her werewolf healing abilities could start kicking in, but I needed her to push through a little longer to help me. "Remy, you can do this," I said when she still hadn't moved.
Julie bit down on my hand, making me pull away from the sudden pain. She tried to scream again, but I smacked her face. I pointed at her and bared my teeth.
"If you know what's good for you, you'll shut up," I warned. "After you tried to hurt Remy, I have no qualms about beating you to a pulp." I didn't feel like myself as I threatened Julie, but this was a life or death situation. Julie had shown she couldn't be trusted. Her chest heaved up and down with strained effort, but then she pushed herself off of the ground and sat up. She crawled towards the rope and grabbed it before dragging herself over to me. She handed me the rope, and I twisted Julie around before tying her hands behind her back. I added a piece to her mouth as well to make sure she didn't scream out again.
When Julie was secured, I moved away from her and looked at Remy. She looked like she was struggling to stay conscious. I wasn't sure if she had time to wait for Caulder and the others to find us. I knew it would be risky, but I had to try to get her out of here as soon as possible. If I could get away from the wolfsbane, at least I would be able to link the pack for help.
I scooted closer to Remy and grabbed her arm. "Come on. We need to get you out of here," I whispered.
Remy's breathing was shallow, and she was using what little energy she had to try to focus. "We won't make it. We need to wait for help."
"You need to get out of here now. If you stay around this wolfsbane any longer, you could be in serious danger." I looked at the wound on her arm, and it was swollen and moist with blood. It didn't look like it had started to heal in the slightest, and it even seemed to be bleeding still.
"They're coming," Remy whispered. Her eyes met mine for a brief moment before they lost focus again. "Caulder said they were close, and they are coming."
I didn't question how Remy knew that information. I knew her magic was strong, and Remy and Caulder's bond was stronger than any other siblings I knew. If she said Caulder was coming, I was sure he was on his way already. I just hoped they would be here fast enough. I knew we were better off waiting for them to come than trying to fight our way out of here ourselves.
"Okay, well, we need to dress that wound while we wait." I looked around for something to wrap the cuts to try to stop the bleeding with, but the room was empty except for the wolfsbane lining the walls.
I grabbed my shirt and ripped a strip off the bottom of it. I knew it wasn't the cleanest option, but it was better than nothing. Doctor Zayla would be able to clean the wound as soon as we got out of here, but Remy couldn't afford to lose much more blood. When I finished with that, I brushed the hair out of Remy's face and made her focus on me. "Just hold on a little longer, okay?"
"I'm tired," Remy said, fluttering her eyes shut.
I shook her gently. "Hey, none of that. I need you to stay conscious for me. Just until Caulder gets here." I was afraid that if she fell asleep, she would never wake up again. After her last coma, I wasn't sure if any of us could handle Remy in that situation again. "Can I just close my eyes for a few minutes?" she asked. Her head was slowly falling forward.
I stood up and then wrapped my arms around Remy's waist. I pulled her to her feet and held her close to me. "Let's just stand up and wait by the door. Julie was supposed to knock when she was ready to leave. When we hear Caulder arrive, we can knock on the door and make a run for it. It'll make it easier for them to find us, okay?"
"What about Julie?" Remy's voice was quiet and hard to hear.
I blinked at her a few times before glancing back at Julie. She was just lying on the floor, not bothering to move against her restraints. She looked like she had completely given up. "What about her?"
"We can't just leave her here." Remy sounded genuinely concerned, and I was worried she was growing delusional. How could she be concerned about Julie after everything she had done to us?
"Why not?" I asked. Maybe I was just interpreting Remy's concern wrong. I hoped she was just worried Julie would come after us or yell for help or something. I couldn't care less about what happened to Julie, and I had no intention of helping her. "Draven will kill her. We have to bring her with us," Remy said. She looked at Julie and her frown deepened.
"As far as I'm concerned, she signed her own death warrant when she teamed up with Draven, kidnapped you, and then tried to kill us both," I said. In my eyes, Julie wasn't part of our pack anymore. She crossed a line she would never be able to come back from. I knew it was harsh, but Draven could do whatever he wanted to her, and I wouldn't feel guilty.
"She made a mistake because she was lonely." Remy was trying to defend her, and I didn't understand why. She was being too nice to Julie, and she didn't deserve it.
"A mistake you make when you're lonely is sleeping with the wrong person or getting drunk. It's not k********g the alpha's daughter and trying to kill the beta's daughter. This wasn't a simple mistake. She's deranged." I was starting to wonder if Remy was also deranged from the blood loss. Did she fully understand what Julie had been trying to do?
"She deserves a fair sentence for her crimes. She doesn't deserve to die at the hands of someone like Draven. He could torture her or worse." Her throat caught in her mouth, and tears started to gather in her eyes.
My chest tightened with Remy's plea. As much as I hated Julie and her actions, Remy was right. Draven was more despicable than anything Julie had done. After the way Draven forced a kiss onto Remy, it made me sick to think what else he might do, and no one deserved that, not even Julie.
I bit my lower lip, unsure of what to do. Remy was my priority, but her pleas for Julie had convinced me I couldn't just leave her here, tied up like a dog. I wasn't about to free her either, though.
I helped Remy lean against the wall. "Will you be okay on your own for a moment?" I asked.
Remy nodded her head. I slowly let go, not fully trusting her not to instantly fall. She seemed a little unstable, so I hesitated for a moment, but when she stayed on her feet, I took a step away. I moved to Julie quickly and helped her stand up.
Before leading her to Remy, I leaned in and whispered in her ear, "You have two choices. You can either break free with us, or I can leave you here tied up for him. Now take a moment to really think before you make your choice. You know Draven doesn't love you. Do you really think you can convince someone like him to love you? Especially when you couldn't complete a simple task he gave you? If you really want to stay with him, I'm not going to drag you out of here, but I promise you that if you stay, he will kill you." I gave her a moment to let my words really sink in. "Now, are you going to willingly come with us?"
Julie looked around and fear filled her eyes. Finally, she looked at me and gave me a curt nod. She looked broken and like she had lost any will left to fight. She failed, and she knew it.
"Good. Now you will walk ahead of us when we leave. Got it?" I wasn't about to let Julie walk behind us. She had lost all trust fro. me. Plus, if the vampires attacked us, she would be the first one put into danger.

CAULDER
"Ready?" I linked Mason. We were all in place, ready to kill these vampires, so as soon as Mason confirmed he was ready, I would spring into action.
Blade and I stood close to the entrance of the shed, hidden from plain view. There was only one vampire guarding the entrance, but I knew that would soon change.
"Ready. I'm trusting you to get Harper to safety. Let's kill these bastards," Mason said. I knew he was ready to rip these vampires to shreds, especially since it was his daughter who was locked up with Remy.
"Let's do this," I said to Blade.
He gave me a quick nod, and I flung a fireball at the entrance of the shed. I purposely missed the vampire, setting the door on fire. I wasn't trying to attack the vampire, especially because I knew my magic wasn't as effective on them. What I really wanted was a distraction that would draw out all of the vampires. Just as I had planned, vampires started pouring out of the building as the fire spread, and it was go time.
