The Bully's Hated Mate -
The Bully’s Hated Mate – Chapter 63
CASSIA’S POV:
I didn’t know how long I sat here but everything was meaningless now, now that I knew that Lucius had abandoned me.
Abandoned us.
All I heard as I sat there in the dirt for five days with only occassional cups of water to survive was the sounds of bugs and rats as they scurried past.
The sound of the gates opened and my eyes raised up, wondering if Lucius had decided to pay me a visit to further taunt me in my cell.
I wouldn’t put it past him to do something like that but I believed I deserved courtesy at least.
“You could come out and spit on my face, Lucius!” I screamed from where I sat down.
I sniffed the air unconsciously as I wept. I didn’t recognize the scent and so I decided to look up.
Lo and behold, Cedric stood before me in his kingship regalia, his smug smile twisted and disgusting as he squatted to keep eye level with me.
“You’re Cassia, aren’t you?” He suddenly asked me.
Something was off with him, always have been since the moment I met him.
“What do you want?” I asked him, suddenly feeling drained from everything else.
I have had the shittiest life and this guy decided to tie a bow on it now… What could he possibly want? I asked myself.
“Aren’t you the daughter of the former beta?” His question threw me off immediately.
I slowly stood up and stayed close to the wall.
“You must be happy that I got rid of your father’s muderer. Right?” He asked me, a smile forming in his face.
Whatever this psycho was formulating, I wasn’t about to be part of it.
I turned away, facing the cell that Lucius had just evacuated and got hit by another heartbreak. I ended up going back to the direction I had been coming from.
“Only that he didn’t kill your father.” He gave a short snort as my eyes went wide in confusion.
“I did” he said and looked at me square in the eyes, hate filling each pupil.
“What?” I asked instantly, dropping my arms and losing strength.
“You see, it couldn’t have been possible to be in this position if I didn’t learn how to pull strings from time to time. Your father was one hell of a disgusting person, I’m sure he influenced Lucius’ dad to be the nice person he was, and where did that get him?” He asked and threw his hands up to signify his question.
“Got his head cut off by the same man he taught mercy and compassion. A weakling, that one, an even bigger weakling was Lucius’ father. I’m so happy they’re both gone and now, the kingdom can feel what it’s like to be under control and good chaos”
He said but nothing he was saying was filtering through to me anymore. I saw him squat for the second time and waved his hands to gain me back to reality, but I was already gone.
“You lot are incredibly boring. I thought to tell you” he said and whistled away.
The bang close of the doors startled the tears that I have been carrying like eggs out of my eyes.
My body shook violently for the first cry, I wept for as long as I could.
LUCIUS’ POV:
As I approached the areas that lead to the Dungeon, I held my bat firmly and strongly, knowing what this could do.
I hid behind some pillars as the illummince of a burning torch started to come into view.
Seemed like a patrol of some kind.
I decided to wait it out but as I stayed there, back pressed to the pillar, I found myself holding the bat at a defence level.
Immediately, the head of the guard came into view, I gave him the toughest wack I had ever given anyone.
I watched as the fire bounced off the hands of the guard.
The guard immediately died and I grabbed the fire, deciding it was best to have a source of light as I journeyed towards my direction, time was not on my side anymore.
I walked towards the dungeon, surprised that there was only one guard on duty.
At first, my heart skipped but then as I approached, I knew this wasn’t going to be as easy.
The guard saw me and immediately charged towards me, holding a dagger at me. I moved my hand without thinking and struck down the guard, killing him instantly.
I quickly took the keys to the gates and pried them open. I charged downstairs, trying to make as little sound as I possibly could but adrenaline did things to me.
I could tell by the nose that I startled everyone, including Cassia.
I didn’t have any time to explain as I moved to her cell and opened it. She was hunched by the wall, like a ball of wool and instantly, I knew something was wrong.
I moved to meet her and she flinched at me.
I sat down with her, confusion playing cards as I tried to figure out what was going on.
“Cassia? It’s me” I said, trying in vain to get close to her.
She slapped my wrists and got up angrily, exposing her now terrifying scars.
“You betrayed me!” She shouted at me and my heart fell.
” I needed them to stop what they are doing to you. I only agreed to play this part to make sure they went along with their plans. It was never my intention to make you feel alone” I said while getting up and trying to hug her again.
She moved away from me, letting me hug air as she began to sob.
“Cedric… He was just here” she said and my b***d boiled in different degrees.
“Why?” I asked, suspicion growing as what he came down here to do.
“He told me that… He told me about my dad” she stopped, like she was in shock and then started to sob greatly.
Immediately, I engulfed her in an embrace and shushed her while trying to rub her back.
“He killed my dad!” She screamed while crying her eyes out.
My b***d ran cold.
That monster!
“Cassia. Listen to me” I said and she pushed me away again.
” You slept with her, didn’t you?” She suddenly asked me and more tears came strolling down her face.
“What? No, Cassia…” I said and tried to reach her again.
She left the space.
“Ariadne said so! She smelt like you and she was wearing my clothes for goodness sake!” She shouted at me again.
I shushed her calmly and nodded my head a no.
“She smelt like me because she slept in the same bed with me. I swear to you, I belong to you and nobody else. But you have to leave this place now! You and Marcus” I said
I took her hands and we both went to Marcus’ side of the dungeon. He was so glad to see us.
“Marcus will take you out of the castle through a tunnel I will show you. The guards aren’t very bright at night and so, this is why you need to escape now” I said to her, holding her shoulders.
She shrugged me off and started to shake her head saying no.
I sighed in frustration. What did she mean by no?
“Cassia. This isn’t up for argument. I can’t lose you” I said, and my voice broke.
” What happens after you get us free? What happens to you, Lucius?” She asked me and while that had never crossed my mind, I didn’t see it as important.
“What if you no longer please the princess? Cedric would never let you be an heir with his daughter and with time, he’ll have you silently mrudered, and your bloodline would be erased completely” she said.
Marcus shook his head in agreement.
“But you’d be safe!” I said to her, trying to make a point.
“I say we take down whoever is at the top” Marcus chipped in.
“Me too,” Cassia said with a resigned voice. “He killed your father, Lucius! You have to make him pay. Killed my dad too”
Slowly the quest for revenge started to burn within me. I started to shake my head to oppose what they were proposing.
“How long would everyone have to live in fear? I know I can’t, and I know that even if I left this palace, I would still be hunted down. We take him down and everyone else who decided to stand with him,” Cassia said again, looking into my eyes in a way no one else could.
The image of my father’s throat being ripped out sent waves of anger coursing through my veins faster than the adrenaline that still flowed in my veins.
“Fine. But I go alone” I said, my voice carrying an air of finality.
“No. If we’re doing this, we’re going to do it as a pack and we’re going to do it together, Lucius. I’ve been away from you for so long to have you take on this risk alone. We’re doing it as a mate and as family!” She said and stood her ground, her smart mouth already forming a line on her face.
Something flowed through me as she spoke.
I didn’t know when I gave her a curt nod in support.
