The CEO Wants To Divorce Me -
Chapter 34
Emma hadn't expected things to go the way they had, and it was as if everything was starting to get out of hand.
Her back was turned to Arabella, her downcast face a complex expression.
They were beside each other at a very young age, and the Arabella who used to always walk beside her with a gentle smile is now being hurt like this by someone else........ If she can't even reach out and pull her through, who else can Arabella rely on?
"Arabella, I ......"
Emma was about to advise again when Wyatt, behind her, suddenly knocked on the door.
"Emma, it's time for visiting, let's do it another time!"
Before Emma could react, she was suddenly half-embraced by Wyatt and took a few steps back.
"Eh? What are you doing?!"
She frowned and slapped Wyatt's hand, only to find the man moving too forcefully to allow himself to defend himself, winking at her as he walked away.
Emma hesitated a little but went along with his words and called out to the woman in the hospital bed, "Then Arabella you rest and don't worry, I'll find a way to help Uncle Ruth!"
Emma looked at the man with some annoyance as she was half-embraced and half-pushed out of the room by Wyatt, "I haven't even finished my sentence and it's not even time for a visit, what do you mean?"
Wyatt sighed as he looked seriously at Emma, his eyes, which had always carried a smile, turning serious, "What's going on with Ezra and Arabella is not as simple as we think. You should just stay out of it and let the two of them work it out on their own." "Why, Arabella has grown up with me since we were kids, and I know what kind of person she is better than Ezra. How could she and Uncle Ruth do something like that!"
Wyatt rubbed his brow with some headache, not knowing for a moment what to advise.
To the untrained eye, Ezra was born into a prestigious family and is a business genius to boot. The man who created the financial myth of the James Group in just five years and was able to take the entire chain to the bottom during the industry's slow period. Others may not know, but Wyatt understands that although Ezra is harsh and cold-blooded, he has never had any principles. If he didn't really hit his bottom line, he would rarely do anything so extreme.
Just this time......
"It's not just Ezra and her marriage that's in front of them now, it's also about two behemoths, James Company and Ruth Company.Ezra wants more than an abortion and divorce, too, he wants to kill to pay for it!" "He's now decided that Aden Ruth was the killer back then, and that someone must be behind it. Even if you talk Arabella out of it again, Ezra won't be able to let Ruth's family off the hook that easily."
He caressed the side of Emma's face and coaxed gently, "Why don't we wait for now, naturally the people who want to obfuscate are more anxious than we are. When we have clear evidence, we'll help Arabella, okay?" Emma kept her head down, somewhat deflated by Wyatt's arms around her chest.
For some reason, it was suddenly clear to her how powerless Arabella was.
When those two stubborn and paranoid people meet, it's true that one of them will always get hurt. Even if they hit each other, they won't let each other go.
Emma glanced at the sickbay door with worry, and wondered if they would be a good match or unlucky when they met.
Arabella knew she could never stand up to Ezra with the power she had now. She had no more illusions that the man would be willing to leave her alone, and just sat alone in her hospital room often, speaking only on the rare occasions when Noah Hall came. Instead of staying at the hospital, she quickly checked out of the hospital and went straight back to her villa.
Grace Ruth still lives there, and with her father in jail and not being there for her all the time herself, Mom must be distraught.
But as soon as Noah Hall heard she was going to be discharged, he immediately put a stop to it with disapproval.
"Miss Ruth, you are still very weak and it would be best to spend some time in the hospital for observation if it is not necessary."
The man's brow sunk and his softness actually toughened a bit, and Arabella looked at him with amusement; after all these days together, Noah Hall's image had gone from being a doctor who was not approachable at first to a friend who could now be joked with. "It's all right Doctor Hall," she said in a warm and soothing voice, with arched eyebrows, as if she were comforting a small child, "I'm not so frail. And I'm just going home now to see if I'm too tired."
Seeing how insistent Arabella was, Noah Hall said nothing more and just thoughtfully escorted her out of the hospital.
The scent of summer is growing stronger, and the golden warmth of the sun carries the characteristic warm summer air, softly dispersing the nighttime humidity.
Arabella returned to her cottage to see Grace Ruth already waiting for her at the door.
"Mom, why are you standing outside, it's still windy." Arabella rushed forward and when she got closer to her mother, she realized that half of Grace Ruth's hair was pale.
As a young woman Grace Ruth was beautiful. But the woman hadn't dressed herself since Aden Ruth's accident. She was so well protected by Ruth's family that this natural disaster was certainly a shock to her like nothing she had ever known.
Even now, Arabella had no intention of telling Grace Ruth that she had been pregnant. Since the baby hadn't been kept, the fewer people who were grieving because of themselves, the better.
Arabella ducked her head and lowered her eyebrows, trying to hide the frustration under her eyes. She had even put on a long-sleeved dress today just so her mother wouldn't notice the scar on her wrist.
Right now Grace Ruth's state is really worrying her and giving her mom one less thing to worry about is the only thing she can do right now.
"Arabella, you're finally back."
She wrapped an arm around her daughter and gave her a terrified look up and down, "Did that crazy Ezra do anything to you? Don't be afraid, even if daddy isn't here, mommy can still protect you!" Arabella's eyes immediately flooded with moisture.
How many people in this world are willing to say the word "protect" to themselves anymore? My mother is even more vulnerable, yet she is still willing to stand in front of me.
She forced a smile and took her mother into the room.
"Mom, don't worry about me, of course Ezra wouldn't dare to do anything to me, after all, there's still Grandpa."
She hid the lump in her own voice and gently patted Grace Ruth on the back, comforting the fading woman the way she had comforted herself as a child.
"Don't worry, I'm already talking to him about Dad. It's only a matter of time before we get Dad out."
She pressed her mother's forehead hair close to her, giving her instant courage, "Take care of yourself too mom, don't wait until dad is out and your husband is sick."
Hearing her daughter say that, Grace Ruth's heart, which had been hanging for days, finally dropped a little. She looked at Arabella with surprise, and the hope of the past finally appeared in her cloudy eyes.
"Good, good," she smiled and nodded repeatedly, the half-year-old woman smiling like a teenage girl with a starburst of anticipation in her eyes and heart, "I'll be waiting for you to bring your father back!" Arabella stayed with her mother for a while longer, and when she had been put to bed for her nap, the woman went straight out the door.
Since she had promised her mother that she would reunite their Ruth's family once again, she was going to try to make it happen.
