As I walk into the palace I can hear my dad talking to Rose. I step closer so that I can hear better. I don’t want to go in, but it’s nearly impossible to keep my wolf at bay when I am near her. He gets very antsy just being in the same room.

I can’t hear everything they are saying, but I can hear them talking about our creation and the royals. There used to be a lot of them, until a war happened and they were all murdered.

“Why are they talking about them?” I ask my wolf. He says nothing.

I walk closer and am now at the door. I’m about to go in. I’m trying to keep my wolf at bay before we go in there and claim her. I have known since I first caught her scent that she was my mate, but I don’t want to scare her away. Without an active wolf, she may have no idea that we are mates. So I will wait until her wolf comes forward.

I am about to open the door when I hear them say that Rose has royal b***d and I stop in my tracks. No that can’t be! They will hunt her down! She will be killed and I can’t have that!

Before I can get in the door. Rose tells them that she thinks Lilly, the moon goddess’s wolf has picked her.

That cannot be! If that happens, they are going to come again. We will have another war. This cannot be. We can’t let anyone know about this!

I open the door and yell out. “No she can’t be a royal! They all died!”

Everyone stops and turns and looks at me. Well I guess that’s one way to get everyone’s attention on me! Rose is looking at me shocked. I walk in and stand next to her.

“If anyone finds out that she is a royal, she will be hunted just like all the other royals. I cannot let that happen to her. We cannot risk her safety! There is no doubt that she has a powerful wolf inside. We can sense it. And with all the other packs coming this weekend they will notice it too.”

“We will keep all of this information to ourselves. After the celebrations this weekend we will look into Rose and her past. That way we can also look into her future,” I say.

Rose is glaring at me.

“What makes you think that you can make decisions for me?” She asks me and I smile.

“I am the future King, and this is the best way to keep you safe, as well as all the other members that will be here.” I tell her.

She stands and rushes out of the room. Craig follows her out. I had to hold back a growl. I hate that another man is with her at all times for her safety when it should be me. But I cannot say or do anything about that for now.

I notice my parents watching me with smiles on their faces. Alpha and Luna from the Opal Moon pack are watching me.

“So, what made you make that decision so fast?” My dad asks me. I look at him and take a deep breath.

“Well, as the future King I need to protect those that are part of the kingdom. And she is part of that. With all the other royals being hunted down, it is safe to think that she would also be hunted down.” I tell him.

As I begin to leave, he laughs at me.

“My dear boy, you have never made a decision like that before so quickly. Therefore, I believe it is something else. Is there anything else you would like to tell us?” He asks me.

“Nope, nothing at all,” I say. “But I do want to have a better security system in place and I would like her to have a kingdom guard watching over her as well,” I tell them.

My father nods at me. He is still smiling at me.

“Why are you smiling like that?” I ask him.

“I do believe that you will help Rose bring her wolf forward. As a royal, they come forward on their 18th birthday. So Saturday she may feel off, and I think your presence will help her with all the changes that she is going to have.” He tells me.

“Why would I be able to help her?” I ask him.

“Whether the two of you are ready to admit it or not. I believe your mother is correct. She believes the two of you are mates.” He tells me with a smile.

I look at him with a faint smile on my face. “You are correct. Since I met her, I have known she is my mate. But I don’t want to scare her away. I don’t know if she knows it or not and I don’t intend to push her away. I want to wait until her wolf is present so that she understands as I do, before I act on it.”

“I want to be sure she is protected at all costs. She is the future Queen of our kingdom. Whether it be because of her b***d line, or her mate bond.”

“She will be our Queen.” I say and walk out of the room.
