The Fall Ball -
Chapter 32
(Rose)
How can he just walk in like that and think that he can tell me what to do? I turn to see Craig walking behind me. He is keeping his distance but he stays close enough that he can keep me safe, if anything were to happen.
I walk up the stairs and into our suite. I storm into my room and I slam the door. I can hear Craig trying to talk to me, but I don’t wanna talk to anyone right now. I head to the bathroom. Maybe a soak in the tub will help me.
I turn the water on and get it nice and hot, then I fill the tub. I add in some lavender bath salts. I head back into my room to grab my PJ’s. Craig has finally left me alone. I can hear the TV on in the living room. I grab my things and head back to the bathroom.
I u.ndress and get into the water. It feels great. I shut the water off and lean back. I close my eyes and try to relax. I let my mind wander and space out.
I lay like that for a while. I feel much better. I get out and dry off. I put on my PJ’s. I decided that I should go and apologize to Craig for ignoring him. It’s not his fault that I was upset. I walk out of my room and stop in my tracks. There is someone else sitting on the couch with Craig.
Craig does not look happy about it. He looks up and smiles at me.
“Feeling better Rose?” He asks me. I nod at him.
“Who is this?” I ask him.
He let out a low growl.
“This is Alex. He is a palace guard. He is here to help keep you safe. Craig explains to me.
Alex looks at me with no emotion showing on his face.
“Hello” he says to me.
I nod to him in response.
“Why the hell do I need a palace guard to watch over me? I already have you here to watch me. Who gave him this position and why?” I ask.
Alex lets out a low growl and stands up.
“I don’t know who you think you are. But you should show respect while you are here. All guards take orders directly from Ash, our future King.” He says, walking over to the window.
“Oh hell no! That jerk came in, interrupted our conversation, and now he’s ordering more guards on me! I don’t need that man to do a damn thing for me! I’m going to talk to him right now.” I tell him.
I turn to Alex.
“Where is he?” I ask.
“I am not telling you that. It is none of your business.” Alex replies with a low growl.
I can’t control the feeling that runs through me. Alex drops to his knees and bows in a submissive stance.
“He’s in the office,” he cries out.
I relax a little and leave the room. I head up the stairs and towards the office. I don’t even have to ask for directions. I can feel where he is. I stop in front of the door. Craig and Alex are both just catching up with me.
“Rose, you can’t just go in there. I am not authorized to bring you here,” Alex says.
I look at him and growl.
“I do not need you to bring me here. I found it all on my own. If you are not okay with this, then leave. I do not need you to protect me.” I say as I open the office door without even knocking.
Ash is sitting at his desk smirking at me. I growl at him; my whole body is itchy and I don’t know why. I walk up to his desk.
“Rose, it appears that you are more powerful than we thought. You caused my strongest guard to bow down to you. I think that you need to start training, so that you can control your aura.” He says to me with a smile.
I growl loudly at him. The things on his desk rattle. I look down at my itchy fingertips and see my claws. I am shocked, but too angry to worry about that now.
“Who the hell do you think you are? You have no right to order a guard to watch over me! You can not tell me that I need to train! You have no authority to make me do anything! I’m positive that my a.ura is stronger than yours, so you can’t tell me what to do.” I tell him.
He stands up and comes around the desk. He is now standing in front of me. He smiles.
“You are right, I cannot make you do anything. But I can suggest things. I think you should start training to get your body and wolf on the same page. Due to your emotions, she is trying to come to the surface now. I have placed a guard in charge of watching over you, so that you are always protected. With the most recent information we have gathered, I believe it to be wise.”Ash says to me.
I’m calming down, and now that I think about it he is right. It all makes sense. I look at him and nod.
“Okay, I think you are right,” I say to him and he nods at me.
I turn to walk out of the office.
“It’s late and I’m headed to bed,” I say as I walk out.
As I am walking away, Craig and Alex follow behind me; neither one of them has said anything.
“So Alex, where are you sleeping?” I ask.
“On your couch,” he says with a shrug.
“Okay then,” I tell him when we get to our door.
I go to open it, but before I can do so. I get a whiff of something. Before I can register what it was, I am tackled to the floor.
“Vampires!” Craig yells out.
