The Fall Of Lucian -
Chapter 24
Deisy saw the seriousness of the matter and immediately, without thinking it over, she moved away from the human, who looked at her in surprise.
-What’s the matter? -he asked, swimming towards her.
From the horrified expression on his face, the albino imagined that the human was confused by her attitude. What they had done was wrong, from beginning to end.
Now she felt a strong connection with that human, and she couldn’t find a way in her head to get rid of him. The she-wolf moves away from him, and rushes past him to get out of the water.
-Wait, where are you going? -He follows her out of the water.
At that moment, she didn’t care about his nakedness, or her own. All she needed was to get away from this guy so she could think clearly.
-Get away from me,” she warns as she grabs her things.
-Why?
-Because I said so,” he replies, putting on his dressing gown.
-Explain to me what we did wrong, I don’t see anything wrong with what we did, we both wanted it,” he grabs her elbow and makes her look at him.
Deisy looks at the man’s hand and then at his face, he was looking firmly at her with those piercing grey eyes.
-Let go of me,” she says, almost snarling at him.
-No, not until you tell me what’s going on. Why are you angry?
-This should never have happened, and it will never happen again. You’ll be leaving for the king’s castle in the morning, so you’d better go back to your cell where you should never have left.
-What we have done has pleased you as much as it has pleased me, and I know you want to get back in the water so we can do it again.
He wraps his waist, but his hands I slip under the dressing gown.
-Don’t run away from how you feel about me,” he whispers against her lips, the she-wolf’s eyes narrowing as she feels the human’s warm breath.
And that’s when she remembers what he is… a human, a stranger, a man she knows nothing about. The albino opens her eyes wide and pushes him away.
-You’re just a miserable human who can’t even reach my ankles.
Those words were cruel, but necessary. And judging by the man’s expression before her, she knew she had hit the nail on the head.
-That’s it? Why am I a human? That’s why you won’t accept me as your equal?
-You’ll never be my equal.
She looks down and notices that the man’s body is painted with b***d from the wound down. He was bleeding to death, but he was more interested in talking to her than in treating himself.
-We won’t see each other again, you’ll leave tomorrow,” he said forcefully.
-I don’t want to leave,” he retorts, taking a step towards her.
By this time, Deisy had lost patience with him. She decides to transform into a wolf, growls at the human, showing her sharp teeth, and he doesn’t even flinch at the difference in size.
-You are a very beautiful wolf, your fur is special,” he tries to touch her, but Deisy attacks him, but without biting him. I understand, I understand,” he says, but without taking his eyes off her. It’s the first time I’ve seen a she-wolf so white and so majestic.
The human’s eyes shone with great intensity, Deisy could tell, his gaze was intense. She even dared to say that it was more intense than before. He was not frightened, what he was was amazed by the discovery of his species.
But she didn’t think so, so she growled loudly at him. All her fur bristled becoming much more intimidating than before as she began to walk towards him, in that instant, the human realised the she-wolf’s intentions against him.
And with the same, he took a couple of steps backwards keeping his distance.
And that was when Deisy showed her might, letting him know that she was not a pretty little wolf. When she sensed some fear in him, the albino did a violent turn and ran off into the forest.
The human stared at her for a moment and smiled.
-She really is a very beautiful woman.
After that, it was when he had the chance to look at her side that he noticed that under her feet lay a large pool of b***d. He let out his breath.
-Shit with this damn wound that never heals,” he looks up and sees the forest. But it was worth it.
[…]Frantic and fast Deisy was running through the forest, until she reached the herd. She went straight to her house, where Ria was waiting for her on the front steps.
When she saw her, she jumped to her feet.
-My alpha, what happened? -Deisy returned to her normal state, and the young woman immediately covered her with a blanket.
Luckily, at this time of night, everything was deserted.
-Something very serious has happened,” she replied, stepping into the house.
-What happened? Didn’t you practise bathing?
-I did, but someone came along and saw me doing it.
The young woman covers her mouth.
-What is the meaning of that expression of alarm?
-What else have you done, alpha?
She was silent, not sure about confessing to Ria what had happened next. But she felt it was necessary for her to know, she needed answers. She knew that what she had done would have consequences.
-I did something I shouldn’t have done.
-A wolf? A wolf touched her while she was taking a bath?
-It was more than that, Ria,” Deisy looked at her rather seriously.
And that gave the young she-wolf a hint of what had happened, her mistress had given herself to that wolf.
Wolf?
Ria frowned, she didn’t remember her alpha ever feeling apathy for any wolf in the pack. And for all she knew, Ethan loved his moon too much to betray her; on the other hand, he wasn’t in these lands.
That led her to only one conclusion, it was not a wolf that spied on her mistress, but….
-My lady, have you given your purity to the human?
She didn’t want to confess, but she had to.
-I don’t know how, but he has managed to escape from his cell and reach the river. He found me and saw me doing the ritual. He went into the water, blending in with that position that was still scattered in the water, and then he kissed me. And after that, you know what happened.
-By the goddess of the moon.
-What will happen now?
-My alpha, even if that human is not his mate, he is now the man who won’t let go anywhere. If she felt a simple attraction to him before, now her desire to be with him will get worse.
-And how can I get rid of that?
The young woman denies.
-The potion was to get rid of the feeling she had for this human, but if that same person was the one watching her do it, or touching her, then what she once felt for him would grow.
-What I was missing.
-My lady, you must fight what you feel for him. Send him to the castle.
Deisy didn’t answer, since that was what she thought. The problem was, how did she do that?
-I know…
-He needs rest.
She nods and heads up the stairs to his bedchamber.
-He’s hurt, he’s lost a lot of b***d. I’ve left him by the river,” she tells the young woman as she goes upstairs.
Ria looks at her alpha, and then at the door to the exit. The young woman takes that course and goes outside the house.
She walks briskly to the path leading to the river, and unexpectedly comes across the scent of the human. She stops and sees him trudging out of the dense forest.
-Wow, you’re all over the place,” she mumbles with difficulty.
-You’re dying!
-Yes, so it seems.
And with those words, the human falls to the ground completely unconscious. Ria kneels down next to him and takes his pulse, he was still alive, but only just. The amount of b***d he had lost was tremendous, she would try to save his life.
[…]Adara wakes up feeling her body very heavy and sore, she tries to get out of bed but a strong burning sensation settled in the back of her neck that prevented her from sitting up.
-What the hell happened to me? -he complains.
The young woman brings her hand to the back of her neck and feels a huge circle around the back of her head, which already had a kind of scab on the surface.
-You shouldn’t be touching it, soon the scab will start to fall off and only a very pale pink mark will remain,” she turns to look at Bardas who is approaching with a tray in his hands.
-What is this? Is this what I’m thinking?
-Yes, it’s what you’re thinking,” she confirms, setting the tray down on the table beside her. I had to do it, Adara.
She blinks a couple of times as she watches him. Then she looks down, as she begins to remember everything that has happened.
-Have you started to remember? -She just nods. Are you all right? -Bardas sits on the corner of the bed.
-I’ve behaved like a child.
You’ve behaved as any she-wolf would have.
-No,” he denies.
-I didn’t mind, to tell you the truth,” she looks at him with embarrassed eyes. There was only one thing that bothered me, and I hope you never have to do it again.
-What’s that?
-I don’t want you to hide a jealousy from me again, I was furious when I found out that you went into who knows where to stop me from getting to you. Why would you do something like that?
Adara looks down again.
-I thought my relationship with you would be like my parents’, but you’ve been so busy that you’ve barely spoken to me.
-I see, it was my fault.
-No, it’s not that. I’m…
-Yes, it is. I should have discussed it with you first, I know. I know your heat was very close, you’re my moon, I can know these things, I was trying to keep you at a distance so you wouldn’t freak out by being near me, but I only heightened your desire. It was my fault.
So he wasn’t ignoring her, he was simply keeping them both from losing control of their actions in front of everyone. And she thought otherwise, and it turns out that Bardas was actually looking out for her all that time.
-How could you think I was ignoring you or leaving you aside, you are my moon, I will never stop caring about you Adara,” he caresses her cheek, “Not even when you are no longer by my side, understand, you are very important to me. And now that we’re completely united, there’s nothing that can stop it.
She smiles.
-I love you, Adara.
