The Fall Of Lucian
Chapter 27

If it hadn’t been for that foolish human, his plans would have gone to shit. If she had allowed him to die as he wished, Ethan would never have sought her out to ask for that favor. She knew that alpha wolf could end Lucian’s life.

In fact, she faithfully believed that he alone could kill Lucian without Eren’s help. Her inner wolf was of an extinct breed, he was the only one of his kind. A black wolf with blue eyes, what a magnificent specimen.

Just imagining it made his mouth water. The power Ethan contained was enormous, though that fool didn’t realize it. For that reason he spared the life of that unhappy human, if she survived she would be by Ethan’s side.

And by the time that wolf sought his magic to save her, she would be ready to set her condition. She longed for that cursed Lucian to die once and for all, still cursing the day she stumbled upon that treacherous wolf.

She clenched her jaw, when she had his filthy heart in her hands she would turn it to ashes. He could never be reborn again, let alone threaten her.

The witch bends down and takes Shery’s hand, the one with the most scarring.

-You would have died in seconds with this cut,” she says, running her finger over the scar, and with that gesture the scar begins to fade until it disappears completely. When you stay with me and serve me, I won’t want a human all covered in hideous marks.

He releases her hand in annoyance and gets back to his feet. He looks at her once more and turns away.

-I’m so tired of all this boring talk.

Ethan was taking too long on his mission, maybe it was time to send a warning to those two to hurry up. He didn’t have all the time in the world, the only positive thing about it was that they were keeping Lucian quite entertained.

[…]

-How are you feeling? -Ethan asks Eren who was warming his body near the fire.

-The ice broke right after you passed.

-The important thing is that you’re okay.

-I wasn’t much help to you.

-It wasn’t your fault you fell in the water, Eren.

-I think we could have ended it in one fell swoop if I’d given you a paw.

They both let out a laugh, but the gesture cost Ethan some pain. He was still dealing with Lucian’s bites.

-They’re too deep, they take time to heal,” the alpha says, pressing his hand to his neck.

-It looks like it. At least you blew the bastard’s bloody ear off.

-I guess I’ve already exacted your revenge for the chunk he took out of you.

-Yeah, well, that’s nothing. To-morrow before the sun rises, we must advance to the top. There will be no escape for you there.

-That’s what I think. But I’m still wondering what that bastard’s deal was with the witch.

-I don’t know, but we need to find out before we take her life.

His companion nods.

-I have to go hunt for something to eat, apparently a storm is coming and we need to regain our energy, you stay here and rest,” he adds.

-You should wait a little longer, Eren.

-I’ll be fine, it was just cold water.

The king stands up, and at that moment, a thick whirlpool forms in front of the two of them. Ethan immediately rises to his feet and waits to see what might happen.

-My dear alphas,” they hear the whisper of a woman in the midst of the swirling wind and snow. What a joy to see my king, the last time I saw him he was just a little wolf cub.

-It’s the witch! -proclaims Ethan. What do you want?

-That’s not manners, blue moon alpha. You shouldn’t treat the one who keeps your moon alive like that.

-Shery…” He takes a step forward, but Eren stops him.

-What have you come for? -asks the king.

Both wait impatiently for the witch’s answer.

-I want them to finish their marriage before the night of the quarter moon arrives.

-What are you saying? But that’s in three days,” Ethan snorts.

-They’re taking a long time to finish a simple task, and I want it done now.

-We want the same thing, but Lucian is not easy prey. And it seems he’s more than aware of that,” Eren replies firmly.

-I know that!

Both wolves hear the woman’s macabre laughter, but say nothing.

-But I want him dead as soon as possible, Ethan. In three days, no more, no less. You’re very powerful wolves, Lucian is nothing against the power of the two of you combined.

-And if we don’t get him in the time he asks? What will happen? -It was Ethan who asked.

-Shery will be mine forever… and no one will ever see her again. Remember my sweet alpha, you only have three days.

Suddenly, the whirlpool vanished and with it, the voice of the witch.

-She’s gone,” Eren said, looking up at the sky. We have a serious problem with this woman.

-Eren, I can’t allow Shery to be in that woman’s hands.

-We’ll find him before those three days, don’t worry.

Eren pats his partner’s shoulder. You could see the worry on his face, and it was no wonder, his wife was in the hands of a dangerous and treacherous witch. Anything could happen, and coming from this woman, anything could be expected.

But the only thing left was to keep looking for Lucian, and by the time they found him again, he would not escape them again.

-I’m afraid Lucian has kept his thoughts private, I’ve noticed that the witch hasn’t mentioned anything he’s told us, what do you think of that?

-I think he doesn’t want her to know about his next moves.

-Yes, but if she found us in this place, that means she can see us.

-But not hear us.

-Let’s keep our conversations secret anyway, I don’t want to risk it.

-You’re right,” Eren looks around him. “I’ll go hunting before I can’t do it anymore. It may be our last homestead.

The snow was starting to get heavier.

[…]

When he opens his eyes, he realises that he is not in the dungeon, and that his cot is much more comfortable than before. He frowns as he feels a nice quilt covering his body.

Puzzled by the new situation, he stands up, noticing where he was. It was the bedroom of a house, he looks both ways and sees absolutely nothing but the bed where he was.

He wondered why he had been taken to this place, was he no longer a prisoner?

Getting to his feet, he walks to the door and checks that it was open. Suspiciously he did not look like a prisoner. He goes outside, noticing that the house was only half built.

Everything was half finished, apparently that room was the only thing that was finished. He looked up at the roof, noticing that it was raining cats and dogs, the roof was missing a part and all the rainwater was pouring through it.

It was freezing cold, the room was warmer. However, he did not go back, but rather down the steps and went to inspect the place… when he reached the bottom, he dodged the rain as best he could and went outside, but stayed under the roof of the house.

It was night, and the street was desolate. The ground was muddy, the huge raindrops falling on the ground, splashing brown water on his trousers. He looks up and sees nothing but rain and desolation.

-What are you doing there? -A woman’s voice caught his attention, he looked to the side and that’s when he saw Deisy emerging from nowhere. Are you planning to escape?

-No, how could I? Am I not a prisoner?

-Do you see shackles on your hands?

She took refuge under the roof, but it was too late for her, she was all soaked. Her dress was a mess.

-Taking a bath in the rain? You might catch a cold.

-Such trifles don’t affect me, I couldn’t get sick from something as basic as that. I leave it to the humans, who are weaker.

-You mean because of my wounds that haven’t healed yet? -I remind you that I haven’t had proper rest, that’s why I always end up bleeding.

Deisy swallows and looks away.

-Why have you come here, ice princess?

-I’m not a princess.

-To me you are, everyone here treats you like one. And from the way you’re dressed, I gather you’re a leader. What do you call this?

-What? -She looks at him cautiously, as he was approaching her person.

-All of this, this village, these people, these houses.

-Herd…

-That! I see that you are the leader in this pack, you give orders and everyone follows them. It makes me think you’re a princess or a queen.

She ends up closing the gap between them.

-I’m neither, I’m just leading these people in the right direction. And I keep my people safe.

-From strangers like me? -He stands a few inches away from her.

-Yes, from people like you.

The she-wolf backs up as far as she can against the wall.

-That hurt a lot, princess. I haven’t hurt anyone in this place.

-Because I’ve kept you locked up.

-Then explain something to me, why did you set me free?

He plants a hand on the wall, and steals all the space from Deisy. The two of them were facing each other in this conversation.

-If I’m a risk to your people, why did the pretentious lady release me from my shackles? -He brushes his lips with his thumb to which she blinks. Come on, tell me, don’t hold back.

-Get away from me.

-I didn’t come looking for you, you came on your own.

He was teasing her, and as he spoke so seductively, Deisy’s heart thudded in her chest.

-I didn’t come looking for you, don’t think it’s a big deal. I came to see if you hadn’t run off like a coward.

-Really? -He reaches a hand towards her bottom, but she does nothing to stop him, “Because I don’t believe you, princess.

-Y-you don’t know me,” she replies, closing her eyes and swallowing.

-No, but I want to,” he murmurs against her lips.

She denies, but he had already slipped his hand under her dress and was beginning to rub her intimate area.

-Let me get to know you, Deisy.
